you know you're a quilter if your child graduates and you have all their stuff packed and by the door the week after graduation so you can make their room into a sewing room.

You know you're a quilter if you won't let your child live with you while they go to community college because you would have to give up the converted sewing room.

You know you are a quilter/sewer when you get up in the morning and you still have the pins in your pj's (chest area) you put there for "just in case" and forgot about it. (BTW I never get stuck either) .

You know you are a quilter when you go to the store with your wrist pin cushion on because you are so used to it, you forgot you were wearing it. (I've done that several times).

Elle: The little town that we will be retiring to in the mountains of North Carolina DOES have quilts on the buildings and barns and such around town. Its possible with a grant for Handmade in America. They are wooden "quilts" and each one is usually a pattern special to that person. Like the realtor in town has the house block on their building! So even if you go to town and don't have time to stop at the quilt shop, you can still get an eyeful of quilts!

There is a tiny village up above town called BeeLog. It was a logging town until that petered out. The elemntary school is called Beelog Elementary and they have the log cabin block on the side of the school building.
I thought that was pretty cool.

Well how about that. Loads of the houses have really pretty tiles on the front. It seems its an Andalucian thing. I really like it and the houses always look clean, they wash the tiles down and paint the rest of the house nearly every year and in some villages its in their lease that they must paint every year. They really are fanatic about it.

Lisa, Too funny. I was just saying to hubby. We really don't need this big bedroom just to sleep in and I'm considering moving us into the guest room, and he says " You want a bigger sewing room, eh?"

Yep, you know you are a quilter when you can't wait to have an empty nest so you have more room for sewing machines and cutting tables.

You know your a quilter when:
Dear hubby asks if you would like a new necklace for your 17th anniversary, and you say you'd rather have a gift certificate to your favorite quilt shop! (true story  )

    I ditto ddrobins!

Here's another. You know you're a quilter when DH gets up and closes the bedroom to so your sewing machine will stop making noise over his tv!

You know you are a quilter when your hubby asks you if you ever come up for air, and tells me I hybernate in my sewing room.

You know you're a quilter if your sister comes over for the day and you spend most of it coming back to this site showing her all the wonderful things you want to try someday; and you can tell her more about the folks that made them than you can about what your brothers have been up to.

My husband just told me one as I was reading some of these to him.

You know you are a quilter--- when you spend hours on the quilt forum reading about and looking at other people's quilts

You know you're a quilter if:

.....you insist that the floor tiles in your new den are 12" square, so you can lay your quilt top or backing down and square it up perfectly.

....You start saving those jeans the kids outgrow instead of donating them. They will make an excellent jean quilt someday.

....You find yourself NOT telling your kids where you are going so that you won't hear "Oh no, not another quiltshow!"

....You look at the skirt of the person next to you in an elevator and envision it cut into 6" squares.

.....You need new clothes and spend two hundred dollars on material instead!

....Your weight has shifted since childbirth and you are removing some "small" items from your closet and run across a sundress you wore on your honeymoon. At that very moment, your DH walks in and says, Oh, I always liked that dress, don't give it away. And you're thinking to yourself, give it away? huh! that's cotton!

....you ask for fabric or gift certificates to fabric stores instead of other gifts for your birthday, anniversary, or Christmas.

....You try and decide if it's fair to have an equal budget for your daughter's college tuition and your quilt habit...$100 for her...$100 for quilt stuff...hmmm seems pretty fair to me.

....When your Keepsake catalog arrives in the mail, you read it end to end before even looking at the rest of the mail.

...A book of block patterns sits on your bedstand instead of a novel.

....Your husband knows the names of block patterns and occasionally even knows what pattern they go to.

....Your trash never has fabric scraps larger than 1" by 1" in it.

....You carry around more pictures of your quilts, than of your children.

....If you are in a strange city and spot a quilt store, you almost cause an accident trying to do a u-turn.

....Your sock drawer has fat quarters in it.

....You buy your daughter a dress because you like the cotton print not because she would look good in it.

    ....You pet fabric.

If you are not actually quilting, then you are online at a quilting website.

If your ironing board is always set up, but you never iron clothes. *Why would you want to iron clothes? Aren't they supposed to be wrinkled?*

Oh those are good and made me think of more.

"You know you're a quilter if your DH can't fix your sewing machine, so you tell him to SHhhhhoooo so you can!"

"You now you're a quilter if you're planning on putting quilt photos in your Christmas Cards!"
