I love this subject. I got an old workhorse Bernina for $3 at a church sale!

Ok ladies, I started this thread and I am loving it!! The overwhelming theme of the best find is the featherweight...We have even heard from the featherweight queen herself appropriately named featherweight here on the board. I was thinking of starting a weekly thread of your best garage sale/flea market find for the week. Let me know how you feel about this ..post on the board or feel free to PM me! I will start by saying I found a quilter today who was selling loads of good quality fabric for great prices...So I bought it all! Now I am waiting for DH to go to bed (he goes very early) then I will sneak it into the house and into my stash area. He won't know the difference!

Loretta, I saw the block that is in the middle quilt in a quilt airing out on the line of a neighbor of mine. Sorry, awkward sentence. The quilt was at least 70years old, 20 years ago. Have never seen it done by anyone but me since. It's name is jack in the pulpit, I think. What do you think. That was the best find at a sale for me....free.

I love reading what others have found, my finds are few and far between but they are so special. Dose any one collect sewing kits or thimbles? I have found some very special etuies and one was a wishbone that was croched to hold a thimble. Any one else find goodies like that?

About a month ago I stumbled on a basket of fabric - mostly 1/2 yd + and some trims and bindings and in the bottom were 4 new omni grid square rulers! Basket and all for $1

I have found wonderful fabrics & notions as well. But I feel this was probably my best quilt related bargain.
Mine isn't a garage sale find, but an estate sale one. I bought a Montgomery Ward Damascus Grand treadle sewing machine with all the attachments for $50 a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had time to play with it much, due to harvest being in full swing, so between my off-the-farm job and doing meals and being taxi driver for my guys when I am home, my sewing projects are sitting looking at me until I can get at them. Hopefully I'll be able to post pics soon!
