I made beautiful stockings for my whole family from Eleanor Burns book
Christmas at Bear's Paw Ranch. They quilt themselves as you go. I also put our names on the cuff. If you don't have the book, maybe you could check it out from the library or find it online. It is a good book to own. Amazon has a good price on it.

The pattern is listed under the quilt in a day website, but for some reason, I couldn't get the link there to work. So I looked it up on Google, and got the direct link to it:

Hope that helps.

Ok, this is the same pattern I used, only I made the larger ones-regular stocking size from the pattern in my book. You can use the free pattern and enlarge it following the same directions. What is so neat about these stockings is no raw edges
showing when completed. Do you have a stocking at home that you could trace for a pattern? If not, just free-hand and enlarge the free one. The free one is 9 x 7 in.
I had to searh on the Quilt in a Day site for the free patterns, too. It is in the top bar. I used this small one to make stockings for my two granddogs. They were just like ours and so cute. I made seven large and two small ones and embroidered our names on them. Made the cuffs in a shade of deep red and embroidered with gold thread. No holly leaves.
Her book has a lot of good things to make in it. It is a good investment.
Oh, I also used Christmas fabric for the lining which made them even prettier. You can do this. Have fun.
