Rainy, here, so I put on a pot of Chili. Can't wait till I get my partner, already looking at patterns. But can't pick the material out until I get the Name. Neighbor and I are going to Atlanta to pick up some material..all we have here is Hancock's and Hobby Lobby (Its a 2-2/2 hr drive), but we make the trip about every 3-4 mos. Wanting to look at different material..Hope we can find a JoAnn,s..Anyone shop in Atlanta??

Okay... with one exception (we've got an odd # of participants right now), I've identified matches, and will begin sending out PMs to you over the next 24 hours. We need to find one more person to play -- Someone who would like to make something traditional and/or scrappy and might be open to receiving a quilt with novelty prints (for example, food) and/or green fabric in it. ;-)

I want to remind folks to re-read the opening post. For those who are repeating, there are new rules about regular contact with your partner and with me. I'll include details about this in the PMs I send out.

Get ready... start your engines... ;-)

While you're waiting for me to contact you, why don't the veterans from last year share here what they found most helpful in the early communications with their partner-- what helped you know what kind of quilt to make for your partner? Anyone else can chime in, too.

Mainly I went by the colors....next the pattern...but my partner said to surprise her, so that wasn't to hard for me...I decided on the Spool Quilt using differnet colors for the spools...I think to enjoy this swap, you need to stay in touch with your partner and also on the board.

I did two the first time around then two others, then helped on last. I must say that I have now made some great gals to talk with and enjoy sharing our quilting successes with. Only one really challenged me and that was a pastel since I do not do those very often and not a lot in my collection, it was nice to step outside my box. Would I do it again, NOT! Once was enough for me. I have truly enjoyed my quilts I received and they are all over the house. Being sure even if you pm or post once a week to your partner, it helps to know the other is working on it or at least thinking about it. Best to get started on them right away so life does not step in the way and you can't finish it on time or unable to. I know that a couple of my partners loved the chitter chatter and that is what they needed for reassurance on making the quilt.
If you are my partner, be sure to answer question after question after question and I for one would love sneak peaks. That was the fun part to show the progression we had but did not show the last so as to not spoil the surprise. Well enough of my two cents worth. Looking forward to your pm Jillaine. Give me something to motivate me to get some things done and a direction. After finishing my 120 ufos, I feel a little lost because I don't have any new goals yet this year. Ugh!
