Default Spring churn dash 12.5 block swap

This is a Spring Churn Dash Block Swap.

Think of Spring colors (yellow, pink, purple etc.) Let your imagination wonderfree.

The signups will begin on 1 November 2017 with the closing date being Midnight November 30[SUP]th[/SUP], 2017(4 weeks)
The Deadline to have them to me (in my hands) is February 3rd 2018(9 weeks)

I will swap them and mail them back out to you no later than
February 17[SUP]th[/SUP], 2018(2 weeks and 3days)

If I do not receive your blocks by the deadline date, I will have no choice but to swap the blocks received from the other swappers out without you.

Please make sure to read the Quilting board rules.
QB General Swap Rules:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/member-...-a-t20154.html

The Swap is for sets of (4) Blocks. The limit is 5 sets per swapper. 20 Blocks maximum.

I will trade out all the blocks I receive. Don't forget to make a set for yourself.

Block size is 12 1/2" Sq.

The sets are to be a churn dash block. The set can be made with the same color of fabrics or different fabrics can be used, the background needs to be cream colored
so that all the different churn dashes can play nicely together in a quilt.
100 % cotton fabric must be used. Please use good quality cotton fabric, you should not be able to see through your fabric.

If you do Applique in the center block of the churn Dash it must be sewn down!

Embroidery blocks whether hand sewn or machine sewn are fine also.

Mailing Instructions:

Pm me for my address when you’re ready to Mail.

Make sure your board name is on each block ( you can pinit on, use address labels and stick it on, or you can use a base stitch andstitch it to the block).

Place your finished sets in one Large baggie, make sure to put your address and board name on the outside of the bag in case the package gets damaged or ripped in the mail then the post office can mail your blocks back to you.

Mail your blocks to me in a priority flat rate envelope(you can get this from the post office for free and it will only cost you $6.65 for the postage and the tracking is free) Please use stamps only on the return envelope. (Metered mail expires.)

Give your package time to get to me please. Make sure to address your return envelope back to yourself. Don't forget to use the proper postage. (Thank you.)

Should anything come up and you need to withdraw from the swap, just let me know.Life happens sometimes.

***NEW***

I have a request. I am requesting that each swapper enclose One extra block in the swap theme. This block can be 6.5 or 9.5 or 12.5 inch square. This is a just in case block. In case the mail messes up and things go awry. If I need them, I will use them. I hate to disappoint anyone. If I don't need them, I will hold a drawing 2 weeks after the swap blocks have been mailed out, and whoever wins, I will send them the extra blocks. I will take care of the postage. I do thank you for helping me out.

Now, let's share early fabric pulls, ideas, and blocks and have a little fun.

Hope to see you on our Spring Churn Dash Themed 12.5 Block Swap adventure.

YEA, I got approval to host this swap hope you all will come join me.

Just a few notes, I made the start date of the signup for 1 November 2017, but if you want to go ahead and start signing up I will make a participation list like I did on the last swap and post it regularly so everyone can see who is interested in joining me on this adventure.

I have also gotten some suggestions for the background and the colors of the churn dash. This is what Cuppy suggested.
I also do agree that a color theme would be nice, help make it flow and be consistent, like using cream or white tone on tone backgrounds, and maybe choose two main colors to use, such as gray and yellow purple and yellow or red and pink, any 2 consistent colors, as long as they read that color and also use other colors with it. It is nice to identify a quilt by its color like the yellow and gray one on the bed. You can also add some applique to churn dash, like flowers, butterflies, or an animal. Thereceiver can add to them also, once they receive them and add their own colors, lots you can do with churn dash.

Thank you Cuppy for the suggestions. Ladies what do you all think do you want to do Cream or White tone on tone for the background and do you have a suggestions for 2 colors that we should use or we can go creators options.

you can post here or PM on what you think would work the best.

Yay! Another swap, Armylady count me in!

I'm open to either cream OR white backgrounds but don't have an opinion about the other colors. (Maybe just say "pastels" to keep with the spring theme).

I do have a question though, should the entire block be just two colors or can the "churn dash" part be more than one color? Also, can you post a "pattern"... I've seen churn dashes made from different proportions and want to make sure I use the correct one!

Jayne Welcome you are the 1st to sign up. I would think that the Churn Dash is of one color but I am not for sure still kind of new at the quilting aspect, I will see what some of the other ladies think some of them have been sewing longer than me, you all are the ones teaching me what I am learning.

I have a book that has patterns in it. It shows what size to cut the pieces and shows a picture of how to lay it out but not specific instructions on how to put the block together, I just use the layout picture to put mine together for the winter swap and they came out good.

By "Spring" churn dashes do you mean fabric themed wise? Or colors?

We are all still trying to work out the fabric we all want to use, I am thinking that it could be either, that is what I was thinking when I made up the announcement, but some of the ladies are making suggestions on whether to do 2 colors like (Purple and yellow, pink and red, or etc) Do you have any suggestions.

I was hoping for florals maybe? That way we can use our stashes without going out to buy for the swap. I think we all have florals? (I do!) Narrowing the swap down to special colors will make it harder for some to join. I like the scrappy look myself, with everyone's differnt fabrics and colors in one quilt. A common background fabric is a good idea too. That will balance out the differnt fabrics. Just my two cents worth...

I'm thinking about this, but not if we have to use Priority mail. First class mail is tracked and is about half the price. The last swap I was in on another board it cost me $3.70 to mail 15 blocks. Double that for return postage and it makes a real difference.

I like the idea of spring colours on a cream background instead of specifying just two colours.

Ladies I would hate for anyone to have to buy fabric in order to participate in this swap. So this is what we are going to do, lets take a vote and see what everyone is interested in using in the churn dash. Do you want to use Floral with spring colors, or use 2 colors. The more I think about it I think the background needs to be White tone on tone (I am sure everyone has some of that in their stash). If you all would rather use a cream color that just let me know and if everyone agrees then that is what we will do. I will see what everyone if saying and by the week end I will post what the final decision is. I hope this will help everyone out.

Belfrybat I am Ok with however everyone wants to mail their blocks just as long as they enclose the postage for the return of the blocks and you have tracking coming to me and going back to you. I am just use to using the free flat rate envelopes from the post office with the cost being $6.65 and with free tracking. I think I am going to call the post office and see if there is a cheaper way to mail with free tracking.
