I didn't get photos of the fabric shop, but I did buy 4 remnants. What's popular in Denmark right now? OWLS! Owls everywhere! They're on the upholstery fabric, and t-shirt fabric, the iron on patches, and there are buttons galore. I bought 4 remnants and 3 spools of thread for about $35-40. The thread was cheap compared to home, but the fabric is SO expensive. There was this one remnant I wanted, but marked down 30% it was 1.7 meters for $32. My boyfriend's sister in law asked if they would mark itdown more, but they wouldn't budge, so I left it. I did get 1 really cute piece that is hot air balloons though, and another that I promised to make something for the new baby from, whenmom decides what she'd like. They didn't carry Guterman thread, but did have Guterman notions, which was strange. I did get 1000 meters of thread for $4 though, and that's not even a sale price. If I like it once I get it home, then she's going to get me some more for my boyfriend to bring back when he comes for the christening next month.

I started with a cold yesterday, and spent all day today in bed so I wouldn't get the new baby sick. It started as sinuses/head cold, but now it's already ears and cough. I was just sick for Thanksgiving darn it! If I don't get better quick, I won't even get to hold the baby before we leave!

It's almost 3am here, and I think I've about quit coughing for now, so back to bed for me!

I just have a cold. I would not call this the flu, and i don't think I've ever gotten the FLU actually, and I have never gotten a flu shot. Don't want to, cause I don't want to get sick! I get a yearly cold, about the same time of the year, with the same symptoms, and they don't necessarily make me think flu, cause well.. I can still exist without feeling completely like death. They tend to actually be sinus infections that come after common cold virus. anyways whatevas.. hahaha

I did finish 2.75 blocks for the remaining boom blocks I had to do today. So.. as soon as I get off my duff and go to the store and get the fabric medium for my acrylic paints, I will finish 2 more, and then I will just have to hunt for Kelly's fabric that appears to have gone home with the mailman and never arrived, and then make one block for Stitchingpost as soon as I find where i put her fabric (think it's still in my backpack) but she doesn't care when it's done so no stress about that. Sooo now I can start working on my table runner. yippee. Ok.. after tuesday that is.

yup. i can sing a verse to that song! i am allergic to thimerosal and it is the preservative in flu shots. quite uncommon allergy. the good news, after nearly killing myself with the stuff, i was told by a pharmacist that i could take a single dose shot as they did not contain thim because they did not have to be opened and preserved the way the multi-dose bottles do. he was kind enough to call the serial number into the drug company to be sure! then he sat with me. i told him i knew right away i was fine because it didn't feel like a flamethrower had just removed my arm. sure you can relate!! for those not allergic it doesn't hurt. everyone around you? does that mean no shopping or leaving the house? don't know how you could do it! it is good to know what will kill us. i had a very bad allergy to nuts and chocolate so i once told my dr i was going to go eat a mrs.fields chocolate chip cookie and off myself. he didn't think it was funny. i thought it was a very creative (and tasty) way to go! now i'm not nearly as reactive to them--i can eat chocolate (thank you, thank you) but still no nuts. i can deal!

Glad to know eating a Mrs. fields wont be the end of your demise. I think we all have something that causes us some sort of allergic reaction. I wonder if 100 yrs ago there were as many allergies out there as there are now. interesting have to look that up. wait Anastasia our neighborhood bookworm, Kelly! our other grand bookworm are allergies on the uprise over the last century?

glad to hear you got so much done Erin. Good for you. I got tired watching you do it all lol. need a nap now. It feels good to get your commitments checked off, those little checks feel so good. A dear lady gave me this wipe off board so I can keep track of what I have to work on and its so nice to fling one or two off the list. yes yes it is. I am that much closer to finishing my table runner. the kids are here til tomorrow so I will finish it then I believe. A lovely way to spend Christmas. By the way: MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! shall I sing? (say no).. la la la.. wait fa la la la la la la la la. who wrote those creative lyrics? boy they went all out with those.

This is my best logical guess at 9:24 am (I woke up at 9:07 am):

There probably are a greater number of allergies because there are a greater number of "things" to induce them. Technologies have created all sorts of stuff - latex, polymers, chemicals, etc - that didn't exist 100 years ago. Look at the back of any food container (non-organic, non-homemade) and you'll see a laundry list of chemicals, additives, and other weirdness that you're putting into your body. I suppose I can't promise but I feel pretty confident that these are all creations from this century.

And then, think about the products purported to be the end-all, be-all products such as pharmaceuticals, cleaning agents, and product stabilizers that later show to be carcinogens and toxins. I'm sure that we haven't figured them all out yet; every time you are exposed to that ingredient or product, your body is building up a little bit more of a sensitivity (kind of like people who were not latex-sensitive as a child and die of anaphalaxys-reaction as a grown up) and that is assuming that the cancer resulting from the product use doesn't get you first!

So, I think the (short) answer is "yes, there are more allergies/allergens now than 100 years ago."

Merry Christmas everyone. Getting ready to go to church for Christmas Eve service - I'm part of the hype, as well and then home for a late dinner and opening of our presents. It's just hubby and me, so we can do them whenever we want - but I love to do them on Christmas Eve. I left my Secret Santa boxes under the tree so it looks like there's more. With just the two of us the presents are pretty sparse. Have a blessed evening!

Presents are not what Christmas is about. I received a simple iron for the holiday from my dh. I loved it. Mine was on its last leg so for me that was pretty darned great. I gifted him a pair of flannel lined pants. End of present giving and it worked for us real well. A nice dinner a peaceful day and well I think that christmas was what I hoped for

Kelly thanks for the analogy and yes I agree that has todo something. I listened to somet alk show and the incidents of cancer that have shown up truly came up in the last 120 yrs. Prior to industrialization there were extremely rare cases of cancer found. then it started to climb as technology did to theamazingly awful numbers we have today. so its take the bad with the good I guess. I am allergic to walnuts and get this.. chap stick. makes my lips swell to mondo proportions. I use face lotion on them instead. Not as delicious as say cherry chapstick but it works. I can use coco butter too if I wanted to go for the grease bomb look lol.. I will quilt my second runner tomorrow and in themail it goes. I am jazzed. I like it enough to keep it so its safe to send I think My daughter wanted to abscond with it. So a small hit perhaps.

Well Brat, if the lips swell, then you don't need botox to fit in right?

Hope everyone had a great CHRISTmas. I have been so busy. The week before CHRISTmas we ended up with two teenage (18) permanent guests in our home due to a domestic problem in their home. WOW these kids really need guidance in a lot of areas. We don't have a lot of room but we will make due. Just what we needed at the age of 70. Now that CHRISTmas is over, perhaps I can get started on my table runner. I am certainly not as professional as many of you on this board are but maybe my swap partner will not be too picky LOL.
