I am intrigued by smaller sized quilts lately. Is anyone interested in swapping doll quilts?

Here are a couple of links that inspired me:

If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, leave a reply or PM me!

What size are most doll quilts? I'd probably be interested in doing the swap. Can we get some more info? Do we only make 1 or do we make multiple and receive a variety back? How long would the swap be open and when would the mailing deadline be?

Sizes could vary. Anywhere from 12" x 12" to 24" x 24". I think one quilt per person to swap would be good for a start.

Swap partners could give color hints, likes/dislikes, or just let the quiltmaker create.

Thanks for your interest colettakay! Even if it's you and me it will be fun! But hopefully we'll have some other participants!

I think it sounds like fun!
I would like to know more as well though!
Also I live in Canada, would that be a problem?!?
I will keep an eye and see if more details emerge!
Great idea!

I hope this covers the guidelines. I borrowed some of them (with permission of course!) from another doll quilt swap.

DOLL QUILT SWAP GUIDELINES

SIZE: from 12”x12” to 24”x24”…any size or shape in between.

MATERIALS: natural fibers/cotton, wool, linen

EMBELLISHMENTS: if you want to use them, feel free…beads, rickrack, buttons, doilies, ribbon, lace….anything or nothing at all.

CONSTRUCTION: Pieced, appliquéd, wholecloth, or yo-yos; quilted by hand or machine; and bound.

LABEL: It is recommended that you attach a label to the back of your quilt. I know, this can be a bit scary for some people though, so it will not be a requirement. A label is however a very nice addition to any handmade quilt. Whether or not you decide to label your quilt, please do include a note with your quilt with your quilting board name, real name and contact information (snail mail address and/or email address, etc. so that they can thank you).

PARTNERS: You will be paired with a partner for this swap. You will make a quilt for your partner and your partner makes one for you. Feel free to discuss color considerations, likes and dislikes, etc. between yourselves. You will also be responsible for securing delivery addresses.

DUE DATE: The deadline for all quilts to be received is June 1, 2009.

COMMUNICATION: If for any reason you cannot met the deadline or you need to drop out of this swap, please let me know as soon as you know. If you communicate any setbacks with me I can make sure things work out favorably for your partner, no hard feelings.

SIGN UP: Sign up begins today and ends Tuesday, April 28, 2009. I’ll assign partners after that date.
If you would like to sign up, send me a PM or reply to this thread. Please let me know if you are willing to send internationally as we have several members outside of the US.

I might be interested, how long would we have to work on them? I have made a few small quilts and enjoy them.

PS. My avatar is 23" by 27" a little bigger than the rules would allow, but made for an antique doll bed.

I'm a tiger for punishment, count me in!!

I've never done a doll's quilt before, but it was on the list of things to do. :-)
