I made my first quilt about 40 years ago - back before rotary cutters and rulers. It was a sampler type and I designed the 12" blocks. I did it when I was staying with my parents with a baby, while my husband was in Basic Training for the Army National Guard. It was king size, sandwiched in the front yard in the fall and hand quilted over the winter and ready for our bed when DH got home in the spring. When family was cleaning out the house after my Mom passed, they found a box with my name on it - and inside was the patterns and templates for that quilt! I had no idea that my Mom had kept them after I was done using them.

I have been sewing since I was about 5, and sewing was my first carrier and I learned that the part of owning a business I liked the most was the Accounting, so after my second child was born, I went back to school and now work as an Accountant and sew for fun. I sewed a lot until after we bought our first house and then homeowner stuff and raising kids took the lead and there were years in between where I did very little sewing.

Then about 10 years ago there was a mystery lap quilt project on another board (it had a sewing subforum) and I thought it looked fun so I dug out my sewing machine and ironing board and I've never looked back.

I recently moved, and have a really nice sewing studio and managed to cram 120 of my vintage sewing machines in there, along with my big embroidery machine, serger, sashiko, Juki industrial straight stitch machine and my HQ 24" long arm.

I've been using "Macybaby" as a user name for 15 years. The original "Macybaby" was a weanling filly I bought- and that was her nickname. Have not owned horses for several years, and was planning on dropping that user name, but then I got a ragdoll kitten in January, and "Macy" was the perfect name for her. So now I have a new "Macybaby" in my life.

QuiltingLawyer and all- I don't know for a fact, but, it is obvious that QuiltingLawyer is a criminal defense lawyer for us quilters. We need her when we get caught by the Quilting Police and charged with the horrible crime of cutting off our points on triangles, or pressing to the white fabric.

Crispy- LOL - our own defense - love it
NZ - what a thrill to have younguns in our group - always enjoy multi generational gatherings. No way I can complain having to take care of one person when you have three totally dependent on you.

Hello everyone. I have been quilting for about 10 years now. I started back then to spend more time with my mom. We still quilt together every Wednesday morning and evening at two different groups.
I fell in love with 2.5” squares when I came across a picture of a postage stamp quilt. The photo was of a Queen size laying across a bench. It was beautiful. I have been addicted ever since! I have made 7 quilts and 18 Christmas stockings with 2.5” squares. See I’m addicted! I am always on the look out for new ideas.
I have a daughter Kelly and a son Matthew. Both are married and each have given me 3 grandchildren.
lucky me❤️

Lol! I am definitely here to defend anyone on charges from the quilt police! We must defend our rights to be imperfect quilters! At least I do... I definitely don’t answer to the quilt police.

Hi all, I'm D. J. & just returned to Texas after about 20 years. Hubby of 42 yrs is DOD/USAF & has moved us all over this planet. I'm a small craft airplane pilot, retired postal carrier, and did accounting for yrs & now enjoy saying I'm retired. Oldest daughter is 2 hrs away with our 2 grandkids, youngest daughter is about 8 hrs away & hubby is 5 hrs away & comes home 4 days a month if I'm lucky! When he travels I'm his driver dragging a quilt project with me!

I've been quilting since 2013 & started with a Cal King 12" block sampler with prairie points (quite a challenge) which progressed to a Postage Stamp Quilt (PSQ) using 2" squares(took 4 yrs for no repeats except the highlight of the quilt), now I have 17 quilts in various stages (mostly flimsies). Was busy in the third & fourth year doing donation quilts for Quilts of Valor. I was challenged by a QB friend to do an applique lap quilt & found it very intimidating but I muddled through & she liked it but I probably won't be doing another. I've enjoyed being a host on Quilting Board.

Working on reno of 1938 Craftsman home so I have to complete one house project then I allow myself to finish a quilting project to at least the flimsy stage. I'd rather be quilting!!!
hugs,
dj
