I've come up with a layout to use for the Feb block design. I'm using the basic idea of the cut block, but I went a different direction after that. Now to finish sorting candies for the colors I need. The white diagonal strip is a strip (not pieced) - but this was the easiest way to get EQ8 to show the basic idea. all the sashing finishes at 1"

Oh, Macybaby, as you move forward with this please post it to the 2021/2022 Birthday Swap site so we can just stand in awe at your progress and finish. What a good blend of the proposed pattern (Debby Brown Color Blocks) and a more intricate pattern using the same concept.

lol - yes that is the whole quilt, I'm just using the block design and modifying it for my layout. Sorry if that was confusing. It's a 16 patch with a corner cut off. I changed it to put in a strip and then re-attach the part cut off.
