I'm sitting out also. I will be peeking in once in a while.

I am considering participating in my first Boom. Can anyone give me examples of what "special requests for your fabric" means?
I have a fun fabric that I bought on impulse when my LQS was closing, but I do not have any projects in mind for it. I thought it may be good to use for this and see what folks come up with.

Hi, Terri. I won't be sewing this time but I'll keep checking in to see what everybody is making and how they're doing. Withdrawal is gonna' be hard on me! LOL You know I want to play too. I'm hoping your surgery goes well and you heal very fast.
Jaba, I hope you're beginning to get some relief and are feeling better too.
Hav4boys, here's hoping you're on the road to swift recovery also.
Janice, hug the girls for us all.
GramE, hope you're feeling better too.
Hugs for all my Boom sisters.

I would love to join this group. Please count me in... I'll send email with my info.

??? What exactly do we send in? One 8th in one color? Or do we send several 8ths to make the block? Or does the sewer add their choice of other colors?

Thanks

Good afternoon, Boomers and future boomers. Unfortunately, I’m suddenly down with a cold so am delayed in replying to everyone. I’ll try to get to it later today or early tomorrow. Keep the questions coming as well as the requests to join and I’ll respond soon. I’m happy to see some repeat Boomers as well as some new names. Woo hoo!

Great question. Perhaps you’d like only a certain color used with your fabric, such as white on white (wow) or only red. Perhaps you want to give the block maker a lot of freedom but absolutely don’t want black. The special requests help direct the final product in regard to color. Some people get very specific with their color requests while others don’t give any. As for the block style or pattern, that’s entirely up to the person making the block. Hope that helps

Default Boom swap Gallery

Those new to the Booms may like to see some recent blocks made by our swappers. Follow the address below to the gallery I’ve set up. You’ll be able to figure out for yourselves what some of the color requests may have been. 😃

Bugaboo, you may send any single Fat 8th (18x11 inches -one for each member) you wish to send. You may use all the same fabric or they may all be different. It’s entirely your choice. The maker then uses fabrics from their own stash to complete a block of their choosing for you. We usually like to make sure a substantial part of your fabric is used so it will complement the other blocks being made for you. It’s also part of this swap that the remnants of your F8 are routinely keep by the block maker as you would be able to keep the remaining f8 fabric once you’ve make blocks for the others in your group.

Hope this answers tour questions.

Thank you Janice! That answers my questions. I had looked at previous booms and posts but couldn't figure out where the other materials came from.

Hope you feel better ! ! ! Colds are no fun!
