To suggest that it is "dragging out" makes me think of how excited you are to do something so wonderful for your dad, and how much harder it is the closer you get to the deadline. It is, of course, your option to sit out on the next. It, too, will have a four month deadline. And, participants will still have life happen that prevents them from meeting the deadlines. I always hate when I check in on the thread and the comments have gotten negative (by more than one participant). This is the thing that will keep me from joining again....will have to think about it!

That being said...all of mine have been sent, last one approx. 2 weeks ago. Hope they have all found thier way home safely! I wait patiently for my grown ups...I have plenty of things to do while I wait.
Alikat110, I do agree with you. I hope you decide to play next Boom. I found something that works for me. I too get disappointed when I start reading 2 months into the swap posts that are listing blocks that still need to come home and lamenting that they can't get their quilts done because they don't have all their blocks yet. The 1st Boom I was in I thought I wouldn't do the next one because of it but I love the swap so I decided that 2 months into the swap I would just limit how often I got on the board in this swap. I wouldn't read it as often and that keeps me feeling good about the swap and enjoying it so I do hope you play with us next time. There are a lot of the players who don't post but still play. If it was different I would post more but I found this works for me

Let me begin by sending my apology's, I wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feelings, just giving an update. There has been a little confusion on this thread over who has sent and who hasn't or who's fabric it is and where to send. I realize that there is time left and should have stated it better. I would however like to know that if whoever can't make a block that they would let me know. Would love my fabric returned so I can make one if need be. For me, if I would get some 1 or 2 months from now they would just be UFO blocks, just because I wanted to finish my project before a new Boom started. I would most certainly like a block from everyone for this quilt if possible. Didn't mean to step on any toes, I apologize.

I'm sorry if you feel my comment is rude or negative. I have other swaps and needed to free up my design wall by mid June as it doesn't look like I'll have all the blocks in by then. Dad is excited about the blocks and I need to move them so he'll quit worrying about all the others and get him side tracked on a different set. He still doesn't know the blocks are for him. (BTW, I haven't received your lovely puzzle block...I hope it shows up at one of our houses)

I've been in several of the booms now and understand health/life issues come up. I really do appreciate the ones that have posted they'll be late (or had someone else post for them) and we know what's up with them. As far as "dragging", again I'm sorry if you felt this was negative.

Yes the mailing deadline is June 1 and to imagine that 10 blocks will come in is kinda hard given my past experiences in the booms...no messages/updates have generally indicated a block is not coming home. (8 if you count the 2 that let us know they've had problems...wishing them good health and speedy recovery times for the summer )

I would love if everyone was able to do a status update, mainly so we all know that our fellow boomers are alive and well and partially so we know to set the blocks aside and continue waiting if we know they are coming in. I don't want to arrange a block layout until I can get all the lovely blocks included.

If someone is feeling so overwhelmed, please let me know and I'd be happy for you to keep the fabric without worrying about a block and I can make a note on my spreadsheet. This is to be a fun learning friendly swap and I still feel it is.

I loved the idea of the Boom when I read about it... Signed up (admittedly overzealously), experienced a series of just unpleasant life experiences that have caused me delays... But I am not late yet. I am, however, completely discouraged by the pressure and negativity of what I thought would be a fun and sharing experience.

I recognize this was a commitment I made and had, and still have, every intent on keeping.

if it means anything on perspective, I have to be out if my home in 31 days, and am spending all of my non-work, non-chore/family time sewing. No boxes have been packed. I have no home to move the boxes to. And I have a disabled husband that is limited help with cleaning or packing a 5br house. A little understanding and patience, please.

If nothing else, please wait until I miss the deadline that the swap coordinator set before being disappointed in me.

I see what you are saying alikat, but there are a couple of these folks that haven't even been on the blog to let us know what's up with them. i am missing 13. I know I was late sending out my F8, but I would like to hear from the ones that are missing to let me know that I can still expect them to arrive. I will definately participate in the next boom, I have the fabric ready, so maybe I will get them out early this time. Lovingizabella, perhaps, you could send pm to some of these that are missing. ninakk, scrapper, cuppy, goldendog, dottiedodge, girlscout, navarre. I think we have heard from lovingrandma, tracibug, roseysue and babyfire. Has anyone heard from quiltingmommy?

Hey, Guys....I just point this stuff out because, again, I feel that we have to think of things from more than just our point of view. Communication is about 99% the message recieved and it was coming across poorly (sorry to be blunt). I've mailed out all my blocks and still felt the sting. (Moonwork...I hope my block makes it to you...I'll start another, just in case, as I have some fabric left over). We don't have the luxery of all other indicators of what our message was intended to say (i.e. body language) , so what we say here needs to be worded well. Just my two cents!

Tracibug, Life happens and as a fellow last minute mailer this round just know you have sympathetic ear right here. I'm sorry that you're having a rough go right now and as I can only speak for myself, I am not disappointed in anyone. I hope things get better for you and would offer to help if I didn't live across the country Mal

Hello All,
I am sorry I have not been on this thread as much as I normally am or as much as I would like to be. Aside from dealing with my own brain surgeries I have been dealing with other family issues as well. It is not easy to be a swap hostess and a mom and a patient and a worker and so many other things all at once.

First let me say that there should never, ever be anything negative posted on the Boomerang threads. This swap is supposed to be about making friends and in turn making blocks for our new friends. If we cannot support each other, than we are not to tear each other down. I know we all get excited and we all have plans for our blocks but making people feel bad because they might have to mail their blocks on the very last day is just mean. People join this swap because we do have a longer turn around allowing time for them to do what needs to be done in life and still enjoy swapping.

Second I know there are several blocks still missing in this group and I can tell you that my blocks & goldendogs will be mailed out by the deadline. I will get in touch with those who haven't mailed by then and see if there is something they need help with. Our first effort should be to see if we can help someone in need, not penalize them.

Lastly, I hope we can all remember that we all work at our own pace. People do updates sometimes to keep their own records straight not to put pressure on anyone. Other people don't update and then do one or two large ones. How people stay on track is up to them and we should not assume they are stating they want their block back immediately just because they post. I hope everyone will share pictures of the blocks they have received and I hope even more will share their finished products.

Now I hope we can get back to making friends and blocks for our friends. June 1st is coming and so is the next boom. I hope to see all of you there. I personally will not be swapping in the next one but I will continue to host for all of you who still wish to play
Hugs
April

April is correct. My blocks will all be out on time. During this boom, I have had 3 operations and bouts of blindness, but am working very hard to finish. Besides, being in pain almost all of the time, I have still worked on keeping my dyeing business active, so this has been a very stressful time for me. Above all, June 1st is a definite timeline for me to keep. Judy
