Ladies, please, give me ideas on what you would like for the next swap. It would run from Aug. to Around Nov. 1st. You would have from Aug., Sept., and Oct. for block planning and making and mailing. We can by pass a Winter/Christmas theme and go to something Spring. So your working ahead if you want.

Do you want something funky and different or something like butterflys/birds/bees?? You tell me. I prefer to not host an out right kid theme swap. But, hey, I will listen to the majority.

I'm just a lurker, but was thinking the other day how much fun an international block swap would be. Choosing a country and making a block w/ something about that country as it's "theme" Either a literal idea like a animal or plant that represents that country (for example) or a quilt block that has something about the name of the country in it, or the print of the material used represents the country, etc.

Another Idea might be to have a swap with only 6.5" blocks that have to do with sewing and quilting. It would make a great Wall Hanging for our sewing rooms......

That's a great idea. We haven't had a block swap like that before. (I've spent quite a bit of time in the archives and have seen no swap theme like that myself.

It could also be a US State block theme as well. We are a country RICH in culture and history.

If we swapped for each season that would make a glorious four season larger quilt!
hugs,

I am really tempted to join this swap! It has been ages since i've done one, but i remember what fun it was. Count me in! I' m visiting my dgk but will be home in a week or so and cAn start then. I love making 12" blocks. And being born in Vermont i have to love the foliage and all the scents and tastes of fall in the northeastern United States. One teensy problem...we had a minor electrical fire just before i left home, and the recovery people packed up all my fabric and everything else, so i will find out what i have and where it iz once i'm back home. Just like going hunting in the fall,LOL. On the positive side, i discovered we have a leather couch! Been a long time since I've seen it! Where else can you put the stash overflow? Now I can't wait to get started.
Judith i'm curious why no dp9 blocks? I can understand no 4patches as there is no work involved, and not on par with others' efforts. But i love what Jenny Doan does with a 9patch. Just asking not bucking the system. Wish i could get started now! There are tons of quilt shops here in north Texas, but dh has said i can't take anything back with me. Grrr! We are downsizing so we can move here in a year or two, depending on how fast we can sell out house.
Ok, tmi! Just please sign me up. Thanks!

Hi Nancia,

No DP 9's, because, Unless you are sending 4 DP's sewn into a 12 1/2" sq, they really are a funny block to fit in. Now, don't get me wrong, I love making DP's. But, when you only have 1 quarter of a DP 9, well, you really need to try to make them fit in. That is just my opinion. That's all. I really don't mind a 4 patch or 9 patch because the make good filler. And, they look great with something appliqued to them. Or, you can even take them apart to use as filler also. IDK, did I make an error banning DP 9 quarters. Am I missing their value?? I will definitely listen to your comments on this. I guess in my inexperience, I don't know how to make them work.

I tend to agree with judith on the d9p's. They look pretty dang odd as a block in a sampler. But, that is my mind's eye.

So far we have done summer and fall, I am wondering why not winter and spring? Or a winter and spring together?
