I am still here and working on my project for Nancy as well as my table runner for AZKat in Brat's table runner swap. As if life wasn't crazy enough,my house was broken into on Wednesday. They took my big standing jewelry box, and all my jewelry. All I care about is my Mamaw's necklace and my first Mother's Day present which was a necklace from my hubby. Thankfully I wore my wedding and engagement ring that day because they cleaned out my jewelry dish on my vanity. It kills me about my Mamaw's necklace because I just put it back in there that morning, I have been carrying it around in case a tornado hit. There is two weeks left in my quilt drive and this week we have VBS and then to hand out quilts again.

So sorry sikesjj, tragedy happens and then the thieves come out to play. Pretty sad to even think about it but seems as though it always happens. Hope your insurance will help you out with this. We have a second home in Denver and that happened to us 2 years ago. They went through everything and left the house in a total mess. Insurance didn't pay for all of it, but helped out a lot. Have home security now and it is so worth the money, even for the peace of mind.

jamie-- so sorry about your break-in! i had a lot of reading to do and had just responded to the most recent post. just handle things one at a time! as much as i am anticipating receiving my new bathroom-in-abox (lol), i am more concerned that you re-establish comfort and security in your home! as i just mentioned , i hope to have beau's ready to go out on monday. i was doing a little pre-finishing trimming and the blade got a little bit adventurous! no body was hurt, no limbs or lives lost, just a little shorter project than originally planned. now i know better than to work on this when tired!
happy dad's day to all the lucky guys out there, and happy dad's day to all the good women who gave them cause to celebrate! dh is just glad to have me home! had such a good time at grann's,\. it was like a shortened summer camp for us! we sewed, we talked, we laughed, we ate, we had lots of fun! oh, and a miracle occurred-- i went to sleep at midnight and out of bed by 8 a.m. not my usual hours, and i'm sure grann thinks she has me re-trained. i fell asleep as soon as i got home, all that talking. and did i mention shopping? are very tiring, but sew much fun!
oh, d'sm, i'm sorry, but i didn't get your runner finished as planned. i will continue to work on it and 'git 'er done!"

I watched the news yesterday the new thieves are watching for funeral announcements and robbing homes while the funeral is under way. How horrible is that? I always thought jewelry boxs were instant invitations and should only hold your inexpensive costume jewelry. I picked places like inside the toe of a boot, in a pair of men's slacks hanging.. not in coats not in between your mattress or in your panty drawer somewhere off kilter that it might escape a robbery. I am sorry you lost something so special. My mothers wedding band and a necklace were appropriated from me also several years ago but unfortunately it was from either my own son in his bad days or his girlfriend while I was out shopping. it was the toughest thing to accept but the memories are there still. And that my dear friends is what really matters. not the stuff but the memories. I treasure mine

onto fun things I am thinking time is just to short to mail to me Quennie so maybe you can write Jaba for her mail to and send it there? that would be the best plan if its not in the mail yesterday things are so slow here and I am slower yet picking up things. Promise to write when I get to Wyoming and let you know how much I love the nose warmer you made for me, and ear flaps they will come in handy too!

thieves taking advantage of life events is nothing new. back in the day we had to hire a "gift minder" to stay in the house with the wedding gifts during the wedding and reception. and you just didn't tell the gossip columnist about your vacation till you got back, and had to hire a housesitter anyway. we are putting all 4 animals in boarding when we go to dallas. it will cost a bunch, but this time we have seen the accommodations and met the actual caretakers. no more petsmart hohell! i should have sued them and had them brought up on animal abuse charges!! we will have our mail held, and only one car will be in the drive as usual! my 2000 mustang crossed 60K miles last week. honked down the highway in celebration. my neighbor teases me about never using my car. since i met grann i've put on a lot of miles. fun to do the hills and turns of her area! saw several horse and carts while there and amish or mennonites on golfcarts zipping across fields. also saw a farmer plowing with his team of horses, and he was walking behind them with the plow. very scenic area!
have a safe move, brat! enjoy your new digs! i hope you are getting some bun warmers also!! lol

Honey I have built in 'bun' warmers lol.. actually two years ago my daughter picked up a case of the hand warmers and a case of foot warmers for Steve. I think we used two, gifted a few out so lots left for those cold mornings. I checked on the weather year round, the average snow and rain and honestly the winters are a lot like up here in the Sierras it appears. will check back with you on that after my first winter. my luck it will the coldest winter in 150 yrs!

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend! I spent yesterday with my best friend, helping her make several dozen of her fancy cupcakes, a BIG banana pudding, and this amazing cake that is 2 layers of lemon cake with a whole cheesecake in the middle of it. I had to laugh when I got there. Apparently the first thing she did for the day included a ton of powdered sugar, so she puts it in the kitchenaid mixer and her daughter distracted her when she was turning it on, so instead of turning it on low, she went straight to 3 & the powdered sugar blew up all over her kitchen, lol. She'd just gotten it cleaned up and her husband pulled in from being sent to the store again right ahead of me. She was so frantic for most of the time I was there, and her daughter hadn't slept the night before and was begging for attention, so I was her cheerleader and her reminder to breathe....oh, and also her dishwasher & counter/table cleaner.

My boyfriend called me this evening from Denmark. He said he'd been playing with his 8 month old nephew all evening and was worn out. He said his goal was to teach him to crawl before he left and he was almost there. I find it funny that they apparently push the babies a bit in the beginning to hurry up and be able to hold their head up and push up and such, and they encourage parents to begin "water training" at just a few months old, but aren't so big on hurrying ambulatory skills. I'm curious to see at what age they begin potty training too. The whole business of the differences between US and Danish practices, customs, and financial things is completely fascinating to me.

I'm running a little late on my project with all that's gone on lately with my machine and family and such. I contacted my partner but haven't heard back from her. I got almost all of my runner cut out for Elisabrat's swap too. I needed to take a break to decide on a binding color for this project. I still haven't decided, but I'm thinking I'll probably match the outer band of border. Otherwise I think it'll be too loud. My side project for this swap has eluded me. It was a little something extra I wanted to make to throw in, but I just can't get into it, so I have something else in mind instead.

Tomorrow it's back to the grindstone. Blah. I hate Mondays!

dustysmom um... who is your partner for my swap? curiosity makes me ask...

I laughed at your friends poor experience how mean and evil am I? I would croak if I did that. I hate when I use my handy dandy hand mixer (no kitchen aids here unless cats count) and filling or such comes flying out at me. ugh I hate that. a box of powder sugar. sit on the floor and just cry. not so funny when I really think of it. I think she will be finding it for weeks to come..

I hope everyone is rapidly sewing in this room and is quiet because they are wickedly working as fast as their fingers can so everyone has a smile at the end and get this.. so maybe there will be that holiday swap in the near future

Lilrain, and she PM'd me last night that mine was ready. I'll inbox you.

I agree, she's going to find powdered sugar for weeks, lol. I laughed too when I heard. Sadly, her husband was standing there and busted out laughing as soon as it happened. I think he's still in the dog house!
