Hi ladies,
Wow, I am so excited to watch all the rows develop over the next several months.

Please send me your contact information by PM. Include your full name, mailing address, email address and a phone number. Please, do NOT put your contact information on this board. Only send it to me and other swappers by PM- this is for your protection.

If at any time, for any reason, you believe you will no longer be able to particpate, please let me know. Life happens, for the good and not-so- good, and we understand that. If you think you might hold up the group for some unseen reason, let us know and we will work out how to keep the rows moving and get back to you when timing is better. We have two months to complete each round.

A few things to know:
always send the row your make/complete to the person listed after you.

Mailing dates are:
1st Row – mail by Dec. 1st
Row 2 – Feb. 1st
Row 3 – April 1st
Row 4 – June. 1st
Row 5 – Aug. 1st

A few things to think about:

Correspondence - include with your starter row. This could be a piece paper, note card or anything you choose. Consider this your opportunity to express your preferences, such as colors, techniqes, and what not to do/use. Perhaps you prefer to join your rows when they come home to you - you would state that in your correspondence.

Labels - Send along a label with your starter row for each person to sign. This can be as simple or fancy as you want.

Sashings - Does anyone in the group have objections if any of the swappers wants to send along sashing to be used to join the rows together? It may affect the cost of shipping.

Mailing the rows - What is the preference of the group - do we mail according to the dates, or do we want to mail the rows as soon as they are finished?

What are we forgetting to address?
Suggestions?
Comments?

Shall we declare our themes now? I'll start a new thread titled 'Themes'. Add your name and your theme.

best,
d

I do have some questions, since I have never one either a row or a round robin before. Do I need to name my theme, or is it "evident" from the first row that I send? I don't want to put too many restrictions on what others can do, send Sashing along? I don't think I can pick my Sashing style or fabric until I see all the rows. My general theme is the beauty of nature (including people) however anyone chooses to interpret that, whether stylistically in blocks like wild goose chase, scenery panels, or appliqué --or anything else--songbirds, big birds in flight, mountains, lakes, trees. Anything that includes those elements. Or how we have made nature yet more beautiful. With pretty barns, old outhouses, barns, and sheds. A field under plow, ready to harvest or being harvester. Water in any of it's forms--waterfalls, lakes, rivers, clouds, ice. Or water from a hand pump. Or a tap.

CharlotteMarie, do you have a particular version of Sunbonnet Sue that you particularly like? And is there a pattern available for Sue's house or do we pick our own?

Hi Krisb, Any Sue you want to do is fine. I haven't done my houses yet, but it is because I can't decide on one thing. I just love both things and want to incorporate them into a quilt. As far as any specifics, I want a light blue background. It can be tone on tone or just plain light blue fabric. I have seen lots of both patterns on this board and the only thing I don't want is wonky. Plain houses and plain sues I guess. Sue can be scrappy and houses can be scrappy. Just colorful is what I want. Does that make sense?

Hi Krisb;
No one is required to name their theme - it more or less is for the sake of fun and to get everyone excited and start conversations among the group members.

I love how 'open-ended' you are about your possible theme. Makes me want to put my thinking cap on and start mulling over all the endless possibilities.

Still trying to connect with a couple of group members who seems to be missing. :-( Let's keep our fingers crossed they show up soon.

best,
d
