One question... I am thinking of joining and was wondering what center I would do and I remembered that I have four 12" blocks done of compass stars all on black background. Can the center be the 4 blocks together?

Don't forget we aren't starting until October, so you have time to do something else if you want to. I haven't started, I am waiting for a new book to arrive and I'm hoping that will give me some good ideas.

ok, just a few questions.

i understand 100% washed cotton but the embellishing is an open statement.

so here are the questions

1) embroidery? hand or machine ? or none ?
2) beading ?
3) piping ?
4) decorative fibers?
5) painting ?
7) fusible web?
8) applique - must it be handwork?

Anyway... Am I understanding it right that a participant would up make the center square and pass it on. Then when the next center square would come to you and you would make the 1st border on that quilt, then on the next the 2nd border then the 3rd border on the next one passed to you?
You would end up with 7 people in a group so would then end up making all 6 borders one on each plus your center square on 7 different quilts?
Another question: with mailing every 2 months does this work out to a 14 month time frame?
Okay, o answer your questions. If you were the participant, there would be you and 5 others (6). You make the first block and send it on to the next person. Everyone else does the same, sending it to the person next on the list. Its a 12 month time frame. Okay.

Are you going to join us, cīmon you know you want to, international or home, the choice is yours. PM Patti or me with name, address and email address and state your choice.

Elle
Thanks. I think I understand now. You are right I do want to but I think I'll give it more thought before I commit.
:D

I'm still considering it!
Want to think on it for a couple of days, if that's ok?

Pam, yes you can certainly use the 4 blocks together. You can do pretty much whatever you like...its your quilt!

Yup Klue, you are right, the embellishing is an open statement. You can do pretty much whatever you think is appropriate for that stage..keeping in mind that you might not want to add anything bulky or really heavy. These will have to be quilted later and mailed several times. On the current IRR...I did thread painting on a round on Butterflyspain's quilt..she did some hand embroidery with ribbons on mine...so...you could easily do most of what you listed. I'd be careful with the beading and piping depending on the size of the piping.

No the appliue does not have to be handwork.

Bring on the questions...my fingers are just itching to sign you up!!!

i'm toying with the idea of making a self portrait and calling the quilt

Around The World With My Friends

it would be more like an abstract rendering and not a photograph
