Important:

I've received some feedback from the last swap that some of the blocks swapped had small centers. The blocks were trimmed to the proper 6.5" size, but the center block did not measure 2" square, which means the seams were off. Please check your blocks as you make them, and insure the center square is a full 2". The culprit is most likely seams too big. As I mentioned earlier, you have to sew a scant quarter inch seam to get your blocks to measure right. It makes a big difference when you start putting them together and need your seams to match up.

Please be careful!
Much appreciated....

Thanks for the info about the center square. I don’t even measure the middle square, only square up with my 6 1/2” square ruler. I’ll start measuring the center square!

I will need to go measure mine. Blocks measure right, didn't check center block. Hopefully I can work on them on Saturday and Sunday. Right now babysitting while my kids are packing to move today and tomorrow.

If you are sewing strips together, just measure the center strip once you get the two side strips sewn to it. That's the easiest time to make alterations, if any are needed.

One thing about swaps: They always make me a better seamstress.

I agree here. Between Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilts and QB swaps, I have improved so much in the last two years!

I'm happy to see so many people signing up! Are you planning a third swap someday in the future, Sewbiz? I think it would be so cool for me to have matching scrappy 9-patch quilts for my girls bunk beds one-day!

I agree also! I try hard to send “almost” perfect blocks. I still need more practice. As the saying goes...”practice makes perfect”. Tally for today: swap - 8 , for me - 2 //. The ones that don’t make the cut, I keep and hopefully I can make a pet bed or something else.

Nice blocks, D.Henson... I love that Paris fabric!

I usually find some fabrics I have had in other people's blocks. Guess it's a small world, fabric-wise.

Here are some I put together yesterday.

And here is what I was working from... Ack! Scrappy chaos.

D.Henson, Nice blocks! I had blocks that I kept from the last swap. Probably the most experienced quilter has some blocks they like and some they don't like in a batch of sewing... wrong fabric selection, wrong size, wrong colors, etc.

Wow, SBG! I like your table settings. lol You are ready for scrap stew. Is that a Wiss or a Gingher? Both brands are so pleasant to use. I love mine.
