I'm trying to finish two quilts for the two Marines in our family...I need to find buttons from Marine uniforms...does anyone have any to sell or an idea where I might find some; can't ask my Marines the quilts are a surprise.

have you tried asking a marine recruiter? perhaps they would know where to find some. A dry cleaners? they replace buttons. I just can't imagine a marine taking buttons from a uniform. never have seen uniforms in thrift stores. makes sense-wouldn't want anyone impersonating a soldier. How bout a costume shop?

check with a marine recruiter. Might be able to get some for you.

What about an Army/Navy re-cycle shop? Or perhaps some from online?

I just looked on eBay and they had some old ones and some new ones. Have you tried that yet?

My DH kept his uniform from WW2, do they still let the military
keep their uniforms? If so, there must be a lot of them around, due to illness or death of the original owner. Sad as it is, this would be a marvelous way to recycle them. Seems to me that I saw some in a yard sale a couple of years ago, never thought much about them at that time.

My son is in the Marines. I could ask him if he can get any. I would be happy to send them to you. I also like the idea to check with the dry cleaners if you are near a base. I bet they would have them. Let me know if you want me to check with my son.
