I have to say, I would never have pegged some of my fabrics as 30s, however, let me be quick to add, they all came from charm packs very clearly marked "30s Charm Pack".
There were plaids, dots, and some [sort of] geometrics along with the expected florals. Other of the charms were so typically 30s I never had a doubt. Smiles and hugs to all!
I have a quilt made of 30s, 40s and a very few 50s fabrics, all from feed sacks. My grandmother started it and my mother finished it. As a young girl, I remember waiting for the feed delivery so my sisters and I could pick out the bags we wanted them to leave to get the least ugly fabrics. If none of us were there, the delivery guys would leave the ugliest ones that no one else would want. LOL We had to be picky, we were going to be wearing those sacks to school!!

J, I love scrappy type quilts. All the prints in your picture looked nice to me. :-) I'm sure they will sew up into a nice quilt top at some time. The 2 mostly white ones wouldn't contrast very well with white for a block (like the block instructions for this month)-- and contrast is something to think about too. I'm glad you are comfortable with your choices now. The main thing is to have fun in a swap, that's what I think! I'm glad you are participating!

Linda, Wow, you wore feed sacks dresses to school. That's so... I don't know, American? :-) You must have a lot of cool memories. I was raised in the city and my mother didn't even want to keep a dog, so there weren't any feed sacks in my youth.

Jane, Yes, you will have a lot of fun seeing everyone's blocks, that's for sure! It's one of the perks for being the swap leader. :-))))) I'd like to see them all too! :-p

Should we post photos of our blocks before we send them in so we can see all the blocks? Just a thought. It wouldn't really spoil the surprise as we wouldn't know which ones we are going to receive.

givio.... I think the word you were looking for there was OLD... lol. hugs and smiles!
