Default October Secret Pal

<style> </style> This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can
choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner
every month, and the person you send to will be different than the person you
receive from.

1) You Need To Send The Hostess A Private Message When You Mail Your Package To Your Secret Pal.
2) Once You Get Your Package From Your Secret Pal, You Need To Send A Private Message To The Person Who Sent The Package To You Thanking Them And To Acknowledge That You Did Receive It.
3) After You Have Thanked Your Secret Pal, You Will Need To Send Me A Message Telling Me That You Have received Your Package So That I Can Keep Accurate Records.
Failure To Send These Three Messages Is Reason Enough To Be Banned From The Next Month's Swap.
Packages need to be mailed out by October 15[SUP]th[/SUP], this is a Firm deadline (Not a suggestion). If you know that you cannot mail by that date, Please Do Not Sign Up. You can send your package as early as you'd like!
If you are sending an international package it will need to be mailed by the 10[SUP]th[/SUP] of October. Due to mail processing, our mail dates for international mailing has to be as early as possible! It can take many weeks to reach your SP so any delays in mailing can delay the start of the next month’s sign-up sheet being posted.
For international mailing it is very important that you mark your parcel as a 'Gift'. Usually on the Customs Declaration there's a box you can check. Also, the value should be $10 only (even if you send diamond necklace, lol). I know that each and every time the wonderful generous gifts are far in excess of this amount, but if the true value is listed (and it's over the allowed 'Gift' amount) The person receiving the package is liable for Import Duty, Tax and a Handling fee. This can cost the person
receiving as much as $40
As an aside, padded envelopes are much cheaper to send compared to small boxes. I'm not sure if that's true for every carrier or not.
Our International board members are welcome to join the swap.

There is a 10 dollar budget for this swap. Items from your stash or homemade items are not included in the $10 limit. Postage isn't included in the ten dollars. The most important thing to remember with the budget is to have fun, but please do not spend more than $10

Sign ups will close the 30th of September, and names will be paired on the 1st of and sent out no later than the 2nd of October (I will try to have all names out on the 1st.)
If your pal does not receive her/his package within a reasonable time (7 days max from mailing deadline for within the same country. Then I will need tracking information, 15 days for between countries. There are exceptions, but I must be notified of any delays in sending on your end). Failure to comply may result in the following: Being banned for the next Month.
This is why it is imperative that you keep the hostess informed on any mailing issues.

Question time. I am considering joining this swap. I looked back at what people received in previous swaps. No way did the items sent add up to just $10. Is that because they already had them on hand, so it wasn't counted towards the $10? I want to be fair in what I send.

Hello wnd you will love this swap. There is s $10 limit, but some of us collect things all year long and we give out of our stash. Some also just spend the $10 and that is all. Then there is things that our secret pals send to us that we dont wanr or need and we pass it on to others.
What is sent out of your stash does not count toward the $10 limit.
Hope this helps you.

Come on and enjoy the fun! I think everyone has some bit of anxiety hoping their Secret Pal likes what they've put together and that it's 'enough'. But that is far overshadowed by the joy of receiving a gift, so meticulously put together, by someone you likely don't know that the thought of value or fairness never enters your mind. The act of kindness that comes through a $10 package - with or without additional gently used items - can be quite amazing! Come on and enjoy the fun - I think you'll like it

I am going to step out and throw my name in this month. I've been away from swaps for almost a year, but I have a quiet month (finally) in October so this is a good time to join in. I've missed this group and the people in it!

Welcome back quiltingdragon. A Lot of the oldtimers on here are no longer here, don't know what happened but they have been absent for awhile. Sure would love to get them back the chatter was awesome then. Of course we have a lot of newbies too and they can handle the chatter pretty good too. LOL

Hello Verna- I'm in and I just sent my info!

Lilrain- please join! It is fun. You just never know what you will get. Some things are handmade, some are purchases and others are pass-alongs. No matter...putting together an imaginative package to send is much of the fun! I wish we would get more information on our swap person, but there is a challenge to it, too!
