Hi Barb
That does sound heavenly. My aunt was a nurse out in Bakersfield when I was young, and it was so romantic to stay up late in the hot desert night and hear the trucks going up and down the highway. I wanted to be a truck driver!
Now I live in the smallest town I have ever lived in, 50,000 people! They divide themselves into 5 groups of about 10,000 each,
mostly by which Catholic Church they attend, Italian, Irish, French
and Polish, then the Wesleyan University crowd and the South Carolina group. They are a little clannish. But our town has a lot to offer.
I would like to keep in touch with you.
Hopefully
Diann

My pinchushion is on it's way to Australia, they couldn't give me a delivery confirmation, but they did say that the PO could track if they needed to off of the customs number

Janis 11-20-2010 09:04 AM

I got my pincushions!!! From Lindyline, I got a very nice sewing purse, a wonderful cupcake pincushion and one that is square in shape and I'm still trying to figure out how she made it.
I got my pincushions from Lynnie too!! I got a 3 stack high pillow type pincushion with a decorative center and held together with a ribbon. I also got a striped fabric tube pincushion that is tied with see through, is it organza? and looks like a roll of candy! Also a cute little magnet to hand on my fridge!
If they can post pictures of the things they sent me, I'd appreciate it as I can't. If not, I'll send a picture to a friend and ask her to post them for me. Thanks a lot!!
Janis

The pincushion will definitely add a little sparkle to my sewing as Christmas approaches. I can't wait to hang my snowflake on the tree. We usually wait to put our tree up about the week before Christmas and leave it up until Epiphany. But I might have to take my snowflake into work and hang it in my cube.

I received my pin cushion (plus other goodies) from ZQuilter today. It was so cute. She also included some Werthers chocolates (for DH) and a sachet (pine scent) and a scissor holder matchine the pin cushion. I took pictures with my trusty 5 year old Kodak and went to hook it up to the computer and the connector is broken. So, unless the photo lab can obtain the pictures from my memory chip, no photos until I get a new camera. Thanks so much ZQuilter. You are soooo talented.

You should be able to take your memory chip into Walmart, Walgreens or any place that makes CDs from your memory chip. Usually the CD is around $3-4. If you have a Costco, I think they also do that. Wow, just in time for Christmas ( a new camera). :-D

twinkie 11-23-2010 06:43 AM

Only problem is I already received my Christmas present. It is a 1903 Singer model 27 treadle sewing machine in like new condition. I am absolutely thrilled. It has the pheasant decals which I understand is quite rare. At any rate, I just love it. Also, I work at WalMart and am going to take it in today and see. Thanks for the advice.

Yes, they are so easy to make. I use the decorative long pins with the colored (Pearlized, yellow or white) heads. Just pick out your colored bead (I prefer the star beads because they look like flowers). Place the pin thru the hole and just before the bead meets the head of the pin, drop a dab of hot glue. This keeps the shaft of the pin from being covered with glue. Then pull the pin tight with the bead. And Wahlah, you have a decorated pin.

Thanks Twinkie for giving the pin tute. I have tons of beads as a few years ago I was into making leather mitts and moccasins with beaded designs. Now I know what to use some of these beads for!

The rolled one is actually just 2-1/2" fleece strips in different colors. SCraps if you would. Then roll them up and use regular glue to seal the end. Make wonderful quick gifts. The santa necklace with beads was made by me and my GD. Fun isn't it. Good time to wear it from now till xmas.YOu can calso cut smaller strips like 1" and roll with diffrent colors, Look like baby kelly rolls nad glue a pin on the back for a little gift for quilting friends. Glad you rec'd them and like them. *H*U*G*S*
