Good Morning! I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter! We will have a peaceful and SUNNY day here in Wyoming and I intend to use it wisely. (I am sewing!!!) . I hope that you find a reason to smile today. I can't wait to see a few more swaps come through.

Question: did the longer mailing time help anyone ? I want to know if its better to have two weeks to mail or should it I stick to a firm 5 days? Its all up to you your the ones playing. I am just sending out "I blew it" packages (seem to do this on a regular basis thank you all for forgiving me when I do). I think though this month was a bit more successful any thoughts on this vs secret pal? I know you love secret pal I do too but it seems more people are being responsible and taking the shipping seriously because well.. we all know if it didn't get mailed. I had two people that I made an error on their names (happy lab vs happylab) and we were able to solve one of them and the other I will fix. I can go back to secret pal if you think its safe to do it... so let me know please.

Happy Easter!!!

I am fine either way..secret pal doesn't really matter, as the fabric colors/patterns are still secret until the person gets them. Time to mail is no biggie to me either (gheez, I am sooo easy going...lol) as long as they're mailed within the time frame that is set.
My main issue is making sure if someone sends then they also get back. And if someone doesn't fulfill their end then they don't get to play. I'm sorry if that's harsh, but the ones being "shorted" probably don't think it is harsh. And I know I wouldn't want to be the one being "shorted".
Lastly, I see no need for you to apologize, Brat...as you're doing the best you can..and none of us have waved our hands volunteering to take this on...My hands are firmly down at my sides...lol..

As always, I am happy to "angel" and help out when needed...as long as hubby quits being "Tim the Tool Man" and getting injured! (Said with love for dh...)

I dont mind either as secret or paired. Paired was fun because i was able to get LaurieJo sochi colors to help her get a jumpstart on her quilt. And it doesnt matter if we tighten up the ship date or not. I live in the sticks so getting into town means planning ahead to get to the quilt shop. I am hoping I am the only one left who hasnt seen their swap yet. If so, consider it a successful swap and whatever magic pixie dust you sprinkled worked!

I had a lot of fun shopping for those. I found the most fun QS off the highway driving home from watching princess golf. I used the extra as a quilt back for a wedding gift this last weekend!!

Those are some lovely fabrics! Love the deep rich colors...

What a pretty quilt back! What does the front look like???

As far as secret vs paired, either one is okay with me. The advantage of a longer mailing deadline is time to shop after I know what my partner really likes so I can personalize the choices somewhat.

My front was made with blocks I received from a D4P swap hosted by jclinganrey in January. They were hard to give away. I hope I get in her next Batik D4P!!

Wow Sheri what a GREAT quilt! ooo la la! who is the keeper of the quilt? if you don't have any volunteers... just saying... :)

The blue batiks are gorgeous Tubsfam. So glad you received such a wonderful set! well if its up in the air on partners vs secret partners I am sticking with partners. Its easier to be accountable if you know where they live :) I think we have some great players here. Then we have people who go missing and we have gulp me. But things tend to get fixed so even if they are late they are there. That is a grand thing in my world. I am easy to please. I understand not everyone looks at things so simply. So bear with me please :) We will have a quick sign on up the 25 and the 1st I will get names out again. I have surgery on the 9th so gotta get things done before then! patriotic ladies patriotic.. or reds, whites, and blues your call in case you have more of those than flags and fireworks and stars.

Wow SheriR that turned out great, haven't even started on mine yet, but I sure recognize some of those blocks. Think my next one will be batiks also. I'm collecting those lavender - purple and turquoise colors and probably have enough but they are all set aside just for a quilt.
Happylab added to it today when I received these beautiful batiks! They are perfect for sure and will most definitely be used in the quilt I want to make. Thank you so much happylab, they are perfect for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brat, you're so funny! I needed a quick gift for a wedding I thought I had missed. I was reluctant to gift away my pretty batik blocks. I spent zero money on this as the blocks were from the swap and the back/batt I had!!! I practiced some free motion and put the bride and groom's names mingled with hearts and loops lol. Don't look closely. I'm not real good at FM, But I'm FREE. :D

Elisabrat 04-23-2014 09:17 PM

Well she did say she was FREE right.. um got about three quilts sending your way right of way because you POSTED your free so phew the cost is right in my range! ha ha heee heee gotcha! WHAT? you lied??? sheesh ... guess those will sit on my counter til I can find the backing (always helpful) then send them on to my quilter locally. jan :)

I am so thrilled to see your pretty fabrics Jaba those could NOT have been better picked. Its like she knew you! and well just got notification from Maggy she received hers also so thanking the good heavens for such a lucky thing. I feel better each and every time one comes in so .. keep them coming! I need to see all returned nicely and did my part. Praying I don't need any angels so cross fingers with me, lets say a goofy prayer like.. hula bula fabric come flying home. if that doesn't work we go to plan B. since I hadn't planned on ANY failures this month I will think of that plan when it happens or should I say IF it happens. Crossing fingers happy thoughts....

Elisabrat 04-25-2014 07:33 PM

Since no one has written yelling I guess I will start the new swap sign ups? here goes nothing!!!

Trippgal 04-25-2014 09:44 PM

I left a note with nurse bonnie to confirm she picked up her package. I havent heard from her. And still waiting on her pkg. you said she mails in her own time frame.....

kiffie2413 04-26-2014 04:18 PM

Trippgal,
Nb also doesn't usually let you know she received your fqs, either. Which I like to hear from my partner they received so I know they weren't lost... I have had a few that don't let me know. But I guess maybe I am "Sweating the small stuff" here..as long as we ALL get our fqs that's what matters...
K

jaba 04-26-2014 04:35 PM

That's why I started sending mine 1st class, automatic tracking number and I know they received. I don't think it's "small stuff" kiffee, it's called courtesy, plain and simple, whether you like them or not, seems like there are people that have a really hard time saying the word "thank you". Just don't understand.....

That quilt looks gorgeous! You did an amazing job free motion quilting too.

Marich52 04-27-2014 02:00 PM

I have been late with my thank yous....but when I got home, I found my wonderful fabrics waiting for me. Thank you to Teresa (tlambing) for the beautiful pastels and thank you to Kelly(TheMamaHauser) for the wonderful earth variety and special surprise. I can't wait to use all of them! The two of you have restored my faith in swaps. The swap packages were a great homecoming surprise!

kiffie2413 04-27-2014 04:10 PM

Jaba,
Agreed on all. My dad used to say that all the time, "It's just common courtesy...". Rest his soul, the older I get the smarter I realize he was! I send mine 1st Class as well, didn't dawn on me to check the tracking number...that's a novel idea... Which leads me to another of my Dad's sayings, "You have to be smarter than what you're working with...". Lol. He loved to tease with that saying...I sure miss him....

My mother always taught me to never forget those "thoughtful words", please and thank you. My Dad has always done that too and I tried to teach my children that if nothing else. I have heard them upteen times reminding their own children to say those little words and even hear them now with grand children. Kind of makes me smile, I made plenty of mistakes raising them for sure, but this is certainly something that must have soaked in. I hear you on the missing part, still have my Dad here at 95yrs. old and in fairly good health which I am so grateful for. My Mother died 20 years ago next month and there are things all the time that just makes me smile like it was her for sure. Just little things that can crop up day to day, thank heaven for memories.

kiffie2413 04-28-2014 05:34 PM

I hear you on the memories...I have some wonderful ones.
It's great your dad is doing so well at 95! My Mom will be 75 in August, she has lived with us, since we added an addition to our house when my Dad died 12 years ago. I am so grateful I still have her. She had lung cancer, had 2 of the 3 lobes of her right lung removed along with the tumor. Went thru several rounds of 2 different chemos. She pretty much sailed thru the chemo..lost her hair and had to have some shots for low blood counts, but all in all did great. But she ended up with an abscess in the area where the chest tubes had been from the lung cancer surgery. She and I have had numerous 6-9 week inpatient hospital stays for IV antibiotics in the years since the surgery. I have an amazing hubby, as I stay 24/7 with Mom when she's in the hospital and he never says a word except he knows I need to be with her.
Mom recently celebrated 10 years in remission, I know we got a miracle!
