OOPS....The third picture is NOT this month it's from another month?????????? I made the mistake when uploading and deleted it before posting ~ it doesn't show on my 'review changes' but when posted it is still there???? So you get to see a swap picture from a previous exchange...sorry I don't know what I'm doing wrong to eliminate a picture even though I've deleted it and it still shows....

Lookie lookie what I received from Maggy aka Maggie ~ Maggie was so very generous with me, from the sweet tooth ~to the reading material ~ to my most wanted item the Clover Clips which I've really been wanting to try! But her item that she made for me the apron that is a towel....I cannot tell you how many extra steps I take, especially when I'm canning to 'find' a dish towel to wipe my hands that I've laid down....never where I need it....now it's an apron and towel combined...who would've thunk it?????

I told Maggie in my thank-you to her that, this past Quilt Week here we had an apron 'fashion' show and one of the ladies had a very old and tattered 'apron' that was her favorite....it was a large circular collar (much like a large dinner plate with the center cut out to fit over her head...the collar part extended to just over her shoulders...I hope this makes sense???) then to the front was attached 1/2 of terry bath towel no ties but the idea of always having a towel at the 'ready' really appealed to me! The plus was that it also protected her clothing.

So when Maggie sent the same thing different design it is GREAT! (see second picture)

Thank-you, Thank-you Maggie!!!! <big smiles="" and="" quilty="" hugs="" to="" you="">

Wonderful packages! SP's ... your packages seem to have left Long Island ... when will they arrive? The post office isn't telling me ... YET!

Thanks again. (PM will follow as soon as I have screen name.)

WAY off topic

This is going to be way off topic, but it DOES
relate to the sp swaps.

Talked to my wonderful MIL last night and she
asked me how would I feel about taking a family
cruise HER TREAT!!!!!

It will be an Alaskan Cruise!!!

We will be going in July, and DH and I will have to
get U.S. Passports, this is all providing that DH will
want to go, but hell if he doesn't I will tell mom to
heck with him I will gladly go.

I asked Timbo last night if he would want to go, and
he must be up to seeing Alaska as a tourist this time
because he went to his computer and started checking
out the process for getting passports.

Happy Dance!!!!!!!!!!

Sooooooo if we DO take this cruise with my in laws I
might not be joining the sp swap UNLESS I can be lucky
enough to have everything ready to go early in the month
(depending on the departure date).

Krystyna 04-13-2012 06:03 AM

Louise, how exciting! You will have a ball and so happy that DH is going!!!
Why on earth do you need a passport? As far as I know Alaska is still part of the USA.

works4me 04-13-2012 06:38 AM

I believe the Alaska cruise may stop in Vancouver, BC. That may be why a passport is needed. I know we get a lot of cruises coming through here.

Lori Peercy 04-13-2012 07:50 AM

Tomorrow is the deadline for mailing so get to stuffing those packages!!

Lori Peercy 04-13-2012 07:51 AM

Is it only me who gets the quilting board is not responding? Then I have to recover the website.

you only need a birth certificate to cruise to alaska even though it goes to canada. i am a budding cruise queen (10 down and counting). also you can get a US passport card to cruise with which is cheaper (about $55) and faster than getting a regular passport. all of the document information you will need will be located on the website of the cruise line you will travel on.

louise above all enjoy the cruise and remember to take a really large data card for your camera for picture taking. the alaskan cruise is just beautiful!!!!!

I had trouble getting on this site a couple of days ago. Said that there was no internet connection and that went on for several hours. But other internet sites worked so I will figure that it's the QB that was messed up. Otherwise, everything runs normal for me now. No troubles like others have been saying or discussing like doing very short PM's or such.

Krystyna 04-13-2012 08:30 AM

Sometimes the site is a little slugglish and buggy, but ... that's life. Nothing is perfect. Especially me!

On a happy note ... both packages are out for delivery!

mscupid804 04-13-2012 08:30 AM

Somebody school me plz, why do you need a passport to go to Alaska since it's an American state?

I think it is because the cruise stops in Vancouver British Columbia?

OFF TOPIC REPLY....... The site is wonky as my first post/reply came back in HTML code

Whoo Hoo Louise an Alaskan cruise is WONDERFUL!!!! Even for those of us that live or lived in Colorado where winters can be long.....Alaska is a cruise that WILL take your breath away!

We are certified cruise junkies with 34 under our belts and Alaska is one of our favorites, the South Pacific is my first favorite ah Tahiti.

I'm almost certain that most cruise lines require passports now as the preferred identification. The only way to know for sure is to either read your particular Cruise lines guidelines which will super cede any other information about what ID is appropriate or accepted by a particular cruise line or rely on the travel agency you are booking with....you don't want to get to the ship and find that your cruise line requires a certain type of ID that you aren't prepared to show.

Most cruises to Alaska do make a stop in BC as another person replied. Don't delay in getting the passport applied for, especially if this is your first time getting a passport..... sometimes it can take 6-12 weeks. Walgreens take the passport pictures as I'm sure other places do as well.

Forewarning Passport pictures are worse than drivers license pictures :0) When you leave the ship should you be in an US port and don't want to carry it.... lock that passport up in the safe...it is more valuable than gold and very attractive to thieves.

Send a PM if you'd like some names of friends of ours who run whale watching out of Juneau. Also will share if you want some great shore excursions at different ports. You're going to love cruising Alaska truly your heart will be singing "AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL!"
