August Secret Pal Swap - Sign-ups Close July 31 at Midnight
 

This is a monthly secret pal swap. There is a sign up every month, and you can choose whether or not to participate each month. You will get a different partner each month, and the person you send to will may be different than the person you receive from. Failure to send your package after signing up will be cause to be banned from all future swaps. Please do not sign up if you cannot fulfill your obligation. Have fun and be creative!

After receiving your Secret Pal’s details, go to work and put together a package with something you think your pal would like. There is a $15.00 limit on this swap that does not include what you have in your stash. (This does not include shipping) Most swappers do not mind like-new stash items. Please send items you would like to receive. Do not send smelly, holey, thin, or stained fabric or obviously used items that should be put in the trash. You will need to send me (Hav4boys) a PM when mailing and receiving. This way I can keep my records straight. Also send a PM to your SP thanking them. This is an important part of participating. It lets your secret pal know you got their package.

Please take pictures and post in group as everyone likes to see what you get.

Packages need to be mailed out by August 21, 2023; this is a Firm deadline. All International mailings must be mailed by August 10th Firm. If you know that you cannot mail by that date, Please Do Not sign up.

For international mailing it is very important that you mark your parcel as a 'Gift' on the Customs Declaration (there's a box you can check). Also, the value should be $10 only (even if you send diamond necklace). The person receiving the package is liable for Import Duty, Tax and a Handling fee. This can cost the person receiving as much as $40.

Padded envelopes are much cheaper to send compared to small boxes. These can be ordered free of charge from the USPS website. Additionally, shipping with PirateShip.com can save money.

I do too and already signed up for both groups. So much fun.

I'm back for a bit after a REALLY long absence. I ended up having what we THINK were long covid symptoms, which have taken a lot of medical care - finally back to sewing a bit after over a year of not really being able to do much except work and exist. We had a small house fire in May, so are redoing the kitchen, and after the recent hailstorm we found out we need a new roof.

What has everyone in the group been up to?

I have someone I'm not sure I've swapped with before, if I have it is long enough ago it was before I started keeping track of who I had and what I sent them!

My package left today to someone north of me, which rarely happens! We’ve had frequent rain, but have not had that extreme heat this summer.

My package will probably go out Saturday - I've worked nonstop this week and then tomorrow night is my guild's annual "flea for all" where we all bring stuff we don't use anymore and you can pick up some neat treasures for a song. So hoping there is some stuff my pal will like.

Well on the last moment Hurricane Hilary past more East of us. We did still get a lot of rain but thankfully not as strong a wind gusts if it would have gone straight over us as was initially anticipated.

My secret pal package is going to a swapper, I have been with in other swaps before. She has a lot of changes going on in her life. I hope she likes the items I picked for her.

My package arrived over the weekend, but I only come home for 2 days a week. What an awesome gathering of goodies, I wish I could master the photo thing. Gaijin sent me 4 books that I haven't read yet, a terrific bundle of complexion fabrics and 4 Fall fat quarters. My dogs got a bag of Pumpkin Biscuits. Since they sort of eat everything in sight, I am sure they will love them! She sent me 4 patterns and a small kit, a case for needles with thread in them, finger protectors (how did she know?) Grip dots for my rulers and the cutest little Beetle needle threader with a light! Gaijin you went above and beyond!
I was thrilled to see you work in Binghamton. I am appointed as pastor of a church in Cortland!

So glad you liked your package! I’ve been to Cortland many times and here’s what I know about the town: the snow if often terrible there and I was told they have an awesome coffee cafe.

Got an amazing package today from @Rebaquilts , my pal should be getting theirs soon as well. I waited a few days hoping the heat would break - it is so bad that my friend's lightswitches on the outside walls started to melt, so I was afraid anything in a package that wasn't in an air conditioned space in transit might too. @hav4boys , so sorry I forgot to message you, this heat has me fried. 103 with a heat index of 116, and this is the 6th similar day in a row. Supposed to hopefully storm tonight and break the heat.

Good Morning,
I received my package from RevPam yesterday. I received my requested fabric (green for a Christmas wreath) and surprise fabrics, all of which I can use. I collect sunflowers - she made a crochet sunflower magnet which is now on my refrigerator and a little appliqued wall hanging with birds and sunflowers, that will be going to the office to decorate a wall. She also included several quilt patterns, an apron pattern and sunflower patterns. My embroidery machine scans patterns so I'm going to try my hand using those for embroidery designs.

Thanks to Quilting dragon I’ll have a good weekend LOL , my box came chock full of fabric, magazine, Halloween Dec, a magnetic pick up, a pincushion, wow just too much :-) Hugs for sure and even my kittie loved the box, she climbed right in! Hugs and kitty kisses :-)

So glad that I jumped back into the swap as I needed some mail that wasn't junk or a bill. Got a great package from Rebaquilts. She even sent Sarah a treat.

The book was one I have been looking for...I would give a lot to have m6 childhood hardback copies of Noel Streatfeild's shoe books back.

But like the helpful kid I was, I gave them away when we were collecting books in elementary school for a school that had lost their library in a fire - having no idea how hard they would be to find now. Thank you SO much for that.

She sent purple fabric, chalk, a Kaffe Fassett book, 2 vars of my fave cucumber melon soap from bath and body works, the book, and two kit kits for me, plus Sarah's treat and a note, all packed in sparkly glitter tissue. I received my August Secret Pal package in person from BrendaK. She gave me so many of my most wanted items. Too many to list all off, some are bright fabrics, a paper piecing ruler, DMC threads in blue and muted red, sewing tape, wooden spools, pins, a book and many extras. Some of the extras were tea from China, moon cakes, a tube turner and many adorable key chains, pins and book marks. I am sure I forgot something that is why I am enclosing a picture. Thank you BrendaK. It was so good to see you in person. I am really blessed to have been able to visit. Thank you.
