This is my first Bomerang Swap, so I have no past experience to reflect on and respect others who do. It sounds like those who are "in" are committed to making it a positive experience. Looking forward to being part of this group. I requested the 16 member, slow-paced group and will do my part to make it fun!

Bee Beatty- you're going to love doing the boom. I enjoy so much seeing everyone's fabrics and then deciding which block pattern will make them shine. Sometimes you just pet the F8s for a few days until they tell you what they want to be. You'll get back blocks that you would never have thought to make for yourself.

Thank you Libster for the post. Looking forward to the new quilting friends. Can't wait to see all the fabrics and make blocks!

I have been in 2 boom swaps. The first swap I received all the blocks and this swap I am still waiting on 3. Not sure when they were suppose to be back so am still hopeful they will come. I am not a person who likes change, but I am going to sign up again and am sure everything will work out fine. Reasons to sign up in mho is: the swap is a great way to work with others fabrics, which can be a challenge, so much fun getting squishes in the mail (which won't happen this time), a great way to challenge yourself in making something you wouldn't try otherwise and so fun to see what other people do with your fabric. With the holidays here, I am signing up for a slow group. It is nice I am retired so have extra time to work on the blocks. Let the fun begin.

Question: What is the time frame for the F8's to be to you and the finished blocks be due back to you?

jaba 11-23-2013 07:17 AM

Jannie you have 3 weeks to mail your F8's to Janice once you get your names. Then you have 2 or 4 months to make your blocks and mail them back to her. The actual dates depends on when the boom is closed. Janice said she would be gone this week end so she will answer your question when she gets back I'm sure. If you have time now, just start cutting your fabric and packaging then all you'll have to do is put a name on each one. There's usually 16 or so in a group so you can start with that.

Jannie - to add on to what Jaba just said, if you have certain colors you'd like to see or are going to use the blocks for something specific (like, granddaughter or husband or something), a lot of us tend to type out a short note to put in with the F8. I can usually get 5-6 on a page and then cut them down & put them in the baggies along with the fabric. It seems like a lot of work but it helps the people working on your fabric later to know what you want without having to get back on the QB and search and hunt to see if you had any special requests or information about the blocks/quilts.

FYI

the Quiltmaker's 100 blocks vol. 8 is now available. I picked mine up at Joann's today along with a ton of fabric that was on sale. :)

Jaba...now I have questions, imagine that! LOL When I get the names of my group or groups and send them to Janice should I wrap each one in a baggie or clear wrap with each members name on it and a short note so she wont have to or would it better to send them all unwrapped with the names on them in a Priority envelope so she doesn't have to unwrap them all and put them in another envelope to mail out to us? That seems like a LOT of work for her..Since we've never done it this way before we better all be on the same page to help her out! OldCatLady, I saw that magazine last week but had already ordered it (still haven't received it) but it looks interesting! I have all the other volumns

Joan, I was planning to baggie-up my fabric and then (since I'm in more than 1 group) put them all into one big baggie for each group.

Sounds like a fun project. Can't wait to get started
