Karen, hers has gotten worse in the last 4-5 years, especially the last 6 months. But she wonders if she is heading into menopause. I was young. Hers is also asymmetrical which is an added complication. |
You will be in my thoughts and prayers for sure GramE and your daughter and family. Keep us posted for sure! This far away sometimes is a very bad thing, wish I was closer to you but you are really in my thoughts and prayers

GramE, I will be praying for your beautiful daughter and family. May the children and all the rest of you be at peace as she undergoes this surgery. May she recover well and have no more problems with this condition. Praying for good healing with no setbacks, no infection, and no further surgery needed. Praying for the doctors and nurses who will touch her and make decisions regarding her. God guide their hands, hearts and minds. Amen.

Ok, ladies, actually friends. My 42 yr old daughter Natalie is having surgery tomorrow at Cleveland Clinic. Her breastbone/sternum is buckling in putting pressure on her heart, left lung, stomach, esophagus, etc, etc. This is a condition she has had since birth but drs always said it was not harmful. 40 years later, they know better. Pectus excavatum is the condition, hereditary, her son actually has the reverse problem which is a much easier fix, a brace. They will be cutting her sternum, pulling it back out like it should be & fastening it with titanium plates. Hers is a severe case, twice the measurement insurance requires to fully pay for repair. Her DH is with her 300 miles from her four children, family & support system. The surgery will take 4-6 hrs. She gets in line at 10am. She is second in line, they are expecting her surgery to begin at 11:30.
Things back here are tentative with the kids, 11-17yr old. Wetting the bed, nose bleeds, tears, lots of anxiety. She is anxious to get past the surgery, to start healing. She has to stay in Cleveland for a week after being dismissed because of drainage tube and possible complications. I'm heading to Cleveland on Thursday/Friday so Jason can come home and get the kids back in their own beds. I believe God has got this under His control. He has been ahead of them at many turns. But you all are part of my family & I wanted to ask you if you feel lead to pray for Natalie, the surgeon, and all of us waiting. She's a bit ticked to be missing the eclipse :shock:. She is an RN and we all know a lot of details we probably wouldn't know otherwise. Doesn't matter how old your children are, they are still your children. GramE, by now I'm hoping that her surgery is over and she's in recovery, doing well. I'm keeping her in my thoughts and prayers for a quick, total healing. ((((((Hugs)))))) my friend and Boomer family member.

This weekend my niece flew in from CO. We just found out she is having a baby after years of trying. I decided to make her a quilt. I found the pattern on Craftsy.
