I get photos from my niece every day, they live in Chicago so I don't get to see them, actually I've never meet her 2yo daughter in person only thru photos.

Ahh Mona..he is so cute!! Ive had shoulder problems for a week. The orth dr told me last year Id probably need another "shot" unless I chose surgery. I cant get into see him until Nov 6th. Had to get up and try to sleep in recliner last night it hurt so bad..Trying to finish my bosses quilt so I can get it in the mail to her. Hopefully she can return it on the 3rd and I can get binding put on it. I haven't done anything with my brown blocks..still thinking about QAYG or what to do with it....

Joan, so sorry you are having that kind of pain. Only you will know when it's time to consider surgery. In the meantime: ICE! Ice is your friend....

Had a guild meeting on Saturday. One of the sweet ladies had bought a Studio cutter, and a small fortune in dies! She was kindly letting us bring fabric and have a cutting party with her dies. I had her cut up 4 collections of fabric for me, to make Take Five quilts. When I got home I started to sew them together and couldn't get a 12.5" block with a scant 1/4" seam! One side was always small so I had to cut every block down to 12.25". Then I started to measure the pieces with my acrylic rulers, and they were so off! The pieces that make the Take 5 block are an 8.5" square, an 8.5x4.5" rectangle, and three 4.5" squares. The 8.5 actually measured 8.5x 8 and 3/8". Same for the other pieces... one direction on each was a full 1/8" short! I thought, 'they have a nerve to call their company "Accuquilt" when it's dies are anything but accurate'.

Anybody else find this kind of inaccuracy in their accuquilt dies?

Yep! I found that I need to move my needle over two positions to get the correct size of a finished block. Like you, I was in disbelief that after cutting and that adjustments still needed to be made:(.

Having said that, I made a Hunters Star quilt using the Go die and it turned out beautifully. I didn't realize until all my blocks were sewn together that they only measured 12 1/4", but because they were consistent in size, the quilt went together well. It was after this quilt that I started to make adjustments with the needle.[SUB][SUP]<strike>

When the piece is 1/8" shy, that only leaves you with a scant 1/8" seam... which is just too small.

My friend has the hunter star die too, but if yours only come out 12 1/4", then I guess that die has the same problem.

I've been making my Christmas lap quilts with my Christmas blocks (both mine and the ones Hav4 gave me...). However, I couldn't bear to give this block away, from Ibex. So I made it into a Christmas wall hanging and will enjoy it on the wall every year. She did such an amazing paper piecing job on this!

awww. Love your binding and sashing! I had no problems with my Accuquilt Hunter's Star giving me a 12.5" block. I am troubled by the idea that their dies may not be acurate. I better double check my dies before I commit to making 12.5" blocks.

I hope these next couple of weeks go by fast for you Joanelizbay! Aches that destroy your sleep are troublesome on so many levels. I sympathize and am sending you lots of good gris gris to heal quickly.

That is super cute Sewbiz.

i have found my accuquilts dies to be off also. My solution is to only use the dies when I am making the blocks for myself. So they all are the same size.

very rough day here.

Morning, Waves...just a quick fyi that the next couple of weeks I'll be traveling and busy with a couple of big house projects so my attention here will be spotty. I'll have time to check in but for the most part, not a lot of posting At this time, it still looks like we'll be a go for sign-ups at the end of this year. Stay tuned!
