lol! I hear ya! Well, you could go with bears...or...you could go with that beautiful fabric. One would be gorgeous, the other adorable. Since you already have a woodsy quilt...I vote for the other! I love the teal and I love the paisley in the other one. I LOVE paisleys though!

NEOMA LIKIE THE TEAL,GREAT CHOICE APRIL!

ckcowl 03-24-2010 11:52 AM

I am so excited now, i mailed out 6 blocks today, got home finished 3 more, and only have 3 to finish which i plan to do in the morning after i get home from work and i will have them all done!!! yea :) boy, there for a short period of time i didn't think i would ever reach the bottom of my tote bag full of envelopes.
i don't know what everyone is doing with their 'scraps' from this but i put each fabric along with whatever i added back into the original envelope and dropped it into a drawer after i sealed up each finished block ( the people who wanted their scraps back i just kept a little 2" square) so i would have a piece of fabric from each block...i'm going to make the scrappiest of scrappy quilts!!!

STAR 03-24-2010 12:24 PM

ok ladies I am planning on doing 2.0 and have 2 fabrics washed and waiting to be cut but I have aquestion for all of you.How did you choose your fabric?? I wanted to pick a fabric that I really loved but then when looking at all the blocks depending on what the other person adds to them they may not read as "my choice fabric" I am not saying they look bad because I LOVE what I am seeing. I chose 2 fabrics from my stash that I liked, had enough yardage, and would not know how I would use otherwise.

what do you think??

I love them both, the top is my fav but I like the paisley too and the colors are great....
I know Kysmommy2 & Dettonslisa-I am not big on paisley but some I find I actually like...I have even been known to have some in my stash!! lol

MadQuilter 03-24-2010 01:11 PM

Well, I got two more done last night and then I miscalculated my cuts on one of the fabrics. That's what I get for staying up too late. Need to get creative with that block...but I will. It's looking promising that I may make it. Thanks for waiting - you are a sweet bunch.

No April, I will not only send one block.

mistiliz 03-24-2010 01:15 PM

No problem blueribbontoes! :) Whenever it gets here will be fine for me.

sew cornie 03-24-2010 01:24 PM

April, if my 5year old son had a vote, it would be bears all the way! But he's not making the blocks or getting your quilt. LOL. I love the two fabrics you just posted, but bears would be fun too. I guess I'm not really any help after all, huh? After seeing all the blocks that have been posted, I don't think you could go wrong with anything. Everyone does spectacular work!

kysmommy2 03-24-2010 01:38 PM

lol! we're converting you with subliminal messages! ;)

surprise. surprise, surprise Today I mailed all 35 blocks plus 1 for April's little one. For 72 years I have been thinging everything must be perfect Then this year I started quilting. as I started receiing your beautiful blocks. I became aware of how far from perfect a person caan get. I have ben so intimitated I would not send my blocks out. I started redoing them. My seam ripper had no consideration for my wrist and hand being broken in seven places.I am dropping out of 2.0 while I practice quilting and get better use of my hand. Thank you April for hosting the swap and each member for being so kind.ISPY

Gigix12 03-24-2010 06:22 PM

Ispy...You are to be commended for doing all those blocks with a broken wrist. No one can fault you and I'm sure your work is beautiful. I'm not handicapped and I was ripping all the time....I think it's a hazard of the hobby.

Maybe you can join again for #3.

Nice swapping with you.

ReRe 03-24-2010 06:41 PM

I love to see all the lovely blocks and can't wait to see the ones that come my way when 2.0 starts. I am already excited about 3.0 and 2.0 hasn't started yet. I know the exact material to go get as well. All I have to do is figure out how much material 36 F8s is and how to cut a F8. Anyone tell me?

ispy 03-24-2010 06:42 PM

After rereading my post I am worried that someone may think that I ment your blocks were not perfect. NO no no I ment that they were so good they made me see how far from perfect my blocks are.

A swap is special because it's such a variety of blocks, which equals a variety of new friends. I don't judge the blocks I receive, I just love the effort, the adventure the block had at your house (with out me there), the vision of a new idea, and the surprise of it. NO ONE needs to feel inferrior or not good enough for me. If I wanted to receive 35 perfect blocks, I would hire them done by an expert. I jus want to receive 35 blocks from friends.

BarbS 03-24-2010 07:15 PM

Yes....I sure did.....loved your choice of fabrics to compliment the one I sent you and your work is wonderful......I think I sent you a note when I returned your block.....at least I hope I did.....but you never know.....I been a little STRESSED at work since I returned .....or maybe the correct word is OVERWHELMED.... :(

KBunn, those are really pretty blocks. It's so interesting to see how everyone interprets the fabric, some in similar ways, some very uniquely.

Mosher, your growing collection is stunning! My jaw was on the floor . . . I'm envious you get to enjoy seeing those every day. LOL. Just makes me even more excited with anticipation of 2.0!

kysmommy2 03-24-2010 08:54 PM

awww =( Sorry to hear that you are being pressed right now. I am glad you liked your block though!
I have always wanted to visit Canada and since we moved from Fl to NV I feel like it might just happen one day.

I too LOVE that the interpretations can be very different. That is actually one of my very favorite things about the boomerang swap!

thanks,jan10

reneebobby 03-25-2010 04:50 AM

Star I would say yes, I bought 4 and washed, dried, used heavy starch, cut and got 24 fat 1/8's need to head back to the store for another 2 yards.

Star your question was to pop in here but I hit the wrong button
. hahahaha

MadQuilter 03-25-2010 07:56 AM

Yesterday I got colletakay's, kysmommy2, and
OdessaQuilts' blocks done. At this rate I'm gonna make it. YEAH!

Some of the fabrics have been pulling me in two opposite directions, and I tend to listen to them.

April, did you find those @ fabric.com? I know I've seen at least one of them there! And I don't care which one you use -- I'll work with anything! Love them both.

Haven't been here in a while ... too many projects and DD's musical last week, so trying to get caught up and back on track. Just checking in today ... more blocks to go out early next week!

Star, I wondered, too, about what to send this time around. But I am thrilled with what has come back, so you should really not have to worry about your blocks "not reading as my choice fabric"[sic]. The fact that you have a common fabric will tie it all in together.

Also, when all else fails, you can use sashing.

I have selected my fabric for 2.0 also, and it is another paisley, but this time not nearly as "eye-catching" as the wild blue/orange/pink/purple/lime concoction I sent to most. The other 3 I sent out (kept the last for myself) will be made into a WH for my living room. I haven't seen any of those come back yet, but have not picked up today's mail.

This has been a thrilling exchange, and those of you who have committed to 2.0 for the first time around, you're gonna love it, too!

Well, you can get 8 F8's from a yard, so 4 yards should yield 32 F8's.

As for cutting, I would take a yard of fabric, cut lenthwise down the middle (the fold), then cut 1/4 yd pieces just as if you were cutting at the fabric store. (Or cut the 1/4 yd pieces first, then stack together and cut the fold -- whichever works for you).

Does this help?

MadQuilter 03-25-2010 08:47 AM

I chose two different fabrics and some of the returns make me say "I would have never thought to put those colors together" and yet, they all work. So far I have loved every one of the Boomerangs that came home.

I have made some where the fabric told me explicitly what it wanted to be paired with and the combination left me scratching my head. Sometimes I said: "REALLY? I mean REALLY?" and I went through my stash again to see if there was a different match. But, those fabrics were firm in their decision.

This has been such a fun exchange.
