WHAT MONTHS ARE LEFT, MY SISTER WOULD LIKE TO SIGN UP.

Right now we have two for each month except Aug, Sept and November, and we have 3 for December. So, we do have the potential for a total of 36 quilters. We have lots of time yet, so I am sure more will sign up as time goes by.

STAR 01-07-2010 09:17 AM

I would like to join, and will take november

Deb watkins 01-07-2010 11:29 AM

Horray! Two for each month except August. Three for December. We are on our way for 36 quilters participating!

My sis, Pat, will take October. I'll pm you her info.

Deb watkins 01-08-2010 11:44 AM

We are 26 strong now! Looking for Jan - Nov to make it 36!

Deb watkins 01-14-2010 11:46 AM

Still have several months available for this Calendar Swap!

ntaylor 01-14-2010 07:38 PM

I'd like to join and I'd like July if possible and where would I find a pattern for a Sunbonnet Sue applique? And I'm a newbie

Deb watkins 01-15-2010 03:07 PM

Hi and welcome to the swap! You can find several patterns on sunbonnetsue.com. I will put you down for July! Any question, feel free to post or pm me!

MistyMarie 01-15-2010 04:11 PM

I have some WOC that has tiny Sunbonnet Sues on it that I would like to use for the background. Can I use that, or does it need to be solid cream?

STAR 01-15-2010 05:09 PM

I was thinking muslin, is that ok?

ntaylor 01-15-2010 05:59 PM

MistyMarie...I love the sampler you have as your profile pic, do you know where I can get the pattern?

Deb watkins 01-16-2010 12:14 PM

I would say that if it is cream, muslin, very pale tan that would be okay. I am using a real pale cream. And if there is any little stuff in the background, works for me!

Most of the blocks were made from quilterscache.com block patterns. The blocks are from swaps, but I know the ladies chose blocks from that site to follow.

krazy4quilts 01-17-2010 04:45 AM

I would like to join please. Sounds like fun :)

Glad to have Carol join. I will give her March since there is only one person with that right now.

Hope is is ok to double post, here is my SBS with the fabrics I have on stash, she might be a bit busy with this fabric so going to get some more fallish fabrics this week and play some more.
What do ya think? Will she work?

Deb watkins 01-19-2010 07:32 AM

Saw this on the applique question thread....will work just fine. Though in looking at yours, I realized that I made a huge mistake on mine.............

crazyquilternc 01-19-2010 08:06 AM

I no the the size of the block is 12.5 but how big are you making the sunbonnet sue?

krazy4quilts 01-19-2010 08:20 AM

I think mine is 7 inches or so. Im going to add some fall stuff to it also.

Deb watkins 01-19-2010 08:29 AM

Your SBS can be 7" size or the larger version. What ever size you want, just as long as she reflects your month.

kwhite 01-19-2010 09:01 AM

If there are two sewers for a month can we send our 12 and get the other sewers block for our month back? Instead of getting our own block back.

If you are referring to the apron on yours, I like it. The differences are what make this fun.

Good Idea

Deb watkins 01-19-2010 10:58 AM

I like the idea of NOT getting one of our own back. Is everyone okay with this? Cuz you can ALWAYS make another one of your own if you want.........And I had another thought, it may appear that the blocks we doing are a little 'plain' on the background. Not to worry, as when we put our blocks together, we will quilt or free motion or whatever for the background.

krazy4quilts 01-19-2010 11:28 AM

I am going to add a bit more to my blocks once I get what I want to do figured out :)

Sounds good to me of not getting mine back I am sure I will have an extra or 2000

STAR 01-19-2010 11:32 AM

LOL,not getting one of our own is a good idea if we can do it.

If we have the incriments of 12, it won't be a problem at all. Right now we are working towards 36 participants.

azam 01-19-2010 02:36 PM

I'm okay with not getting one of my own back, although she's turning out to be pretty cute. :-D
Deb, I don't know what the mistake is on yours, they look cute to me.

crazyquilternc 01-19-2010 02:46 PM

I liked your SBS she was cute

I like the iea, too. I've been reading up and watching tutorials online about applique. I haven't started yet, but I'm not so afraid of it now. I can't wait, actually, to get started. It reminds me of playing paper dolls as a kid ... my grandmother gave me a paper doll book that had cardboard templates for clothes and squares on the pages that looked like fabric, and we "made" the dolls' clothes. This reminds me of that ... and, like I said, I can't wait to start. May have some questions once I do, but I've learned that this board is great about answering questions.

You could always make an extra for yourself.

Deb watkins 01-20-2010 06:55 AM

Sharon - don't be afraid! I made a huge mistake on mine, but since they are already done, with the exception of the extra things I want to put on them, I am not going to fret about it. It is supposed to be fun, a learning swap for those who have never done applique' and I am truly looking forward to seeing everyone's idea of their theme month! don't be afraid to ask questions, we have a wealth of experience to share!
