OOOO NOOOOOOOO!!!!! I just got back to town late last night, opened my lovely ornament, and the first thing I did was look for my camera to take a pix. But I left my camera at my daughter's house! Will post a pix as soon as it arrives, better late than never, right?:o

Seeing these brought to mind an unrelated but funny story. I see that Ugly Christmas Sweaters are all the rage now. Here locally we even have an unofficial Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl along one of our historic business districts. Years ago, probably in the mid 90s, I was in Penney's and saw this wonderful (at least to me) Christmas sweater covered with seasonal images; I'd never seen one before as they weren't common then. I got it and wore it for years. When I moved a few years ago, I decided I just had to get rid of some things and that sweater was one of things to go. So of course, at Thanksgiving one of the SILs suggested that we all wear our UCS to Christmas. I'm not sure whether to file that under 'ahead of my time' or 'a day late and a dollar short' -- but I am not buying another one to wear one time for a laugh this Christmas!

Those lil sweaters are wonderful! I can knit, but it's not pretty...lol. My crochet is much better.

I had several of those "lovely" Christmas sweaters, and also sweatshirts...anyone remember the ones where we made them ourselves? I had some that I cut open down the front, added fabric trim on the cut edges, around the neck, and around the cuff of the sleeves. I also put buttons and buttonholes down the front.
Others I put the iron on transfers, and added fabric paint. I did some for Halloween, too.

And I made seasonal vests.
I'm laughing now recalling how I wore them all, and boy I was "stylin"...:D

I must admit I still have 2 or 3 of the VIP fabric panels (uncut) that are to make your own vest. Christmas, Autumn, and sewing themes.
I've actually thought of sewing up one and wearing it...I did really like a couple of them. But then I thought again...lol.
Maybe selling them is a better idea, but I've not seen anyone wearing anything like them in years..

Hello there, looks like we still have people opening and posting pics of their orns. Loving everything that has come. Hope to be able to get to making that album of the pics sometime next week.

Seems that Mrs. Mother Nature is still in a tizzy for some reason. She is really throwing our meteorologist around for a loop or they just suck. Not sure which. Sure hope things straighten up soon. Of course I did see a forcast this morning of yet more snow coming. Thinking of renting of room somewhere warm and cozy where I wont see anything white other than fabric for a while. LOL Oh well, if you are gonna live the middle of nowhere surrounded by mountains in the Northeast of the states I guess you have to expect snow. Too bad I dont know how to ski.

Ill check in with everyone later. Off to get some cleaning up done and plan dinner for this evening. Another busy evening here with ball schedules and such.

klaws 12-10-2014 08:51 AM

Where are all the pictures? Why aren't people posting pictures of the ornaments they received?

lawsonmugs 12-10-2014 10:07 AM

Dorothy (dfelker) did not post pics of the ornaments I made for her, so I will. :D

This was my first ornament swap and I really enjoyed it! I have gotten lots of ideas and have been so impressed with the generosity of all of the quilter's on this board. My orny's are pretty simplistic.....but I tried hard! lol

All of you did a fantastic job on them. :)

God Bless all of you!

Has anyone heard from Mrs Shak? I haven't seen her on this thread or any of the other swap threads. Getting a little worried about her. I PM'd a thank you for my ornaments and haven't heard a thing. I'd love to know she is alright.

Quilty-Louise 12-12-2014 12:24 PM

I haven't heard a peep from her either. She was one of
my swap partners to send too.

I wouldn't worry about someone because they are probably just dealing with holiday tasks right now. I know I am behind on many things myself. I just had to take a break and relax before the rest of my busy day to finish up this weeks list. The count-down has begun for Christmas. Am I right??

As a side note.... A car ran into my house a couple days ago and all the insurance companies, adjustors and contractors are eating into my time. Plus my car is stuck in the garage because of the damage. The post office and last minute shopping has to be by taxi. A true comedy tragedy happening around my house for sure!

Oh No, RedGarnet! That is terrible! I hope the damage to your home isn't too awful and that it is easily fixed. Not a great thing to happen at any time, but right now? Two weeks before Christmas? Oy!

lawsonmugs 12-12-2014 01:54 PM

Oh my goodness Sandy. Hope it gets fixed soon and you get your car out soon. Was the car damaged too? Or was it just blocked in?

Red Garnet I'm so sorry about your house, car etc all so close to Christmas. you sure dont need that stress but I think you will handle it well by your previous post and this Quote you have on your posts

Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern ... It will come out a rose by and by. Life is like that ...one stitch at a time, taken patiently." one stitch at a tome.... have a marvelous Christmas.

RedGarnett, that sucks. I thought only stuff like that happened to me. Hope it all gets fixed in a jiffy.
We have to travel an hour or more sometimes to get to a large enough city for a variety in shopping. This weekend will be spent shopping for Christmas for the kids in Harrisonburg which is an hour away and across a mountain. So instead of rushing through it DH has decided we are taking a little vaca with it. Staying the night in the Burg while shopping. I have to say I am getting somewhat excited. Its been nearly three years since we have had a weekend away by ourselves. To top it all off we actually have the money to relax and enjoy the shopping this year. Cant go hog wild but can just go shopping and not stress to much. I am feeling extremely blessed at the moment.

A little while ago we were talking about pinecone wreaths. I finally took a picture of one that I have up this year. It hangs above a small part of my Santa collection.

mdall can I email a picture of my ornies from my phone and have you post them, sorry I'm computer challenged. Lol

RedGarnet222 12-14-2014 11:41 AM

Thank you girls! I have it almost to the point of the contractors coming to do the work now. I spent the whole day on the phone Thursday (and part of Friday) to all over the dang continental USA with my insurance company and theirs, two sets of contractors visiting here and two adjustors (also here) later and it just has to be ok'ed by the main claim adjustor at my insurance company in phoenix and the dust will be flying around my house for at least three days. I am praying the rain and snow doesn't slow the work. We will see. In the mean time my car is stuck in the garage and I have no wheels!

But, no one was hurt, so that is the most important thing. Thank the lord!

Happy you will be getting your home repaired! And I know it IS irritating how much time and effort it can take to get things resolved.. it's bad enough when it's my own doing when I go through it.. a tad worse when it's someone else's..
But as you said, thank God no one was injured!
