I can't wait for this new swap to open. I hope you count me as a repeat swapper too eventhough I missed the last one. Right now Quiltermomma and many others are in a swap that the leader has dissapeared so the swap can not complete for now and our blocks are tied up. I am a little swap shy but know this would never happen with Deb and any swap she sets up. I am super excited to see with what ideas for a civil war swap you come back Deb.

I think I'm in that swap with you Anna. I did two sets and LOVED them.... I'm still hoping for the best. I'm also excited about Deb's swap. She's on a mission now to find us a great project!!!

Deb watkins 07-14-2012 06:25 PM

Well, I made it to the Quilt store = she gave me some great advice. QM - I think the Moda fabric is the Kansas Troubles line - I have used them before - guess I didn't really pay much attention other than it was Moda. I bought 6 different fabrics - will post them Saturday after I get settled in to the Lancaster hotel. (yeah ..... I know.... more fabric shucks -) I have decided to..........wait - I should probably start another thread.......I have to let Patrice know that I am yet again hosting another swap. I think this one will be popular - theme wise - so I am going to allow more time for sign up and finishing. Yeah, ya'll just have to wait a bit.....

SheriR 07-14-2012 07:16 PM

OMGOSH Deb how can you tease us like that!!! LoL I'm so glad you're enjoying your vacation!!

Deb watkins 07-14-2012 07:25 PM

well, ya'll must love my teasing cuz ya'll just hang around and bug the snot out of me to host another one....not that I am full of snot.....my eyes are brown......if ya'll understand that. And I am so sad that another host has left you with threads hanging.....I know how much all of you love to block swap.

sharon b 07-15-2012 06:34 AM

Here it is Sunday morning and I am still hanging around waiting to hear what the next swap will be ***tap***tap****tap..... hhhmmmmmm***tap ****tap****tap..... guess I better find something else to do besides sit here and wait ......hhhhhmmmmmm

LOL :)

islandwiz1 07-15-2012 12:28 PM

Sharon b, I'll wait with you. I just love Deb's swaps!
Carolyn

sharon b 07-15-2012 06:37 PM

Islandwiz1-looks like we might have a bit of a wait in front of us ..... hhhmmmmmm.... guess it is a good thing I got a job and will now have things to keep me busy during the day , instead of sitting here waiting :)

Annaquilts 07-16-2012 07:06 AM

Well in the mean time I can play with fabrics and find some that might be appropriate for this swap.

Deb watkins 07-16-2012 09:06 AM

All I will say is that it WILL be Civil War theme.....so look for your muted, darker colors, smaller prints or CW reproduction printed fabric...I guess that being said, this swap may tend to be a little more 'higher end' swap. I have 7 fabrics already bought, and will look at more today in Lancaster. I hope I can figure out how to post the pics, and I will show you the fabrics that I am using - just to give everyone a sense of what I wish. Those of you who are familiar with CW will have no problem in selecting fabric. Well - finishing my coffee and off to the fabric stores!

QuilterMomma 07-16-2012 09:52 AM

Enjoy your day then. Looking forward to this swap and will enjoy whatever you decide on.

Here are the fabrics that I chose to show what fabric values will be used for Civil War theme. I will start a new thread for this particular swap when I hear from Patrice.

Carolyn, they are more muted colors, usually a darker value - with complimentary light prints. I have posted what I purchased to give a good example. Some of the bolts will specify Civil War prints, or Reproduction prints - Kansas Trouble, or Buggy Barn are some examples.

Oh... a little.... I am in LOVE with your fabric choices. I'm struggling to find time to work on my DearJane. But I have six weeks off school after Thursday so I have hope.

(I love cheddar's and plums. So don't be surprised if I do mine in those colors.)

Deb watkins 07-16-2012 08:57 PM

There will be plenty of time to sign up and to complete......oh Patrice.....!!!!!!

Yummy CW fabrics Deb.

The picture is of a wedding quilt I made for my DS out of all Civil War fabrics.

This google search also gives you a good feel for what it looks like-

Did you have fun shopping Deb? Looks like you bought every fabric you could find nearly. This will be great. The fabrics are in my stash from the Buggy Barn so I will fit in very well.

QuilterMomma 07-17-2012 01:17 PM

Beautiful Annaquilts. Love that quilt!

Got the okay from patrice! As soon as I make the sample blocks, I will post the pics and open the swap. Cheddars and plums will work as long as they are muted, not bright or striking.....I have a muted plum with cream.....I am looking forward to this swap!

SheriR 07-17-2012 09:46 PM

It's all civil war prints for my dear Jane. But I'll get it OKed before I do anything.

Deb watkins 07-18-2012 03:55 AM

If it is a CW print - okay with me.

islandwiz1 07-18-2012 05:42 PM

Anna Quilts, Beautiful quilt.

Deb, I'm in on this swap too. Ladies where are we all waiting?

sharon b 07-18-2012 07:52 PM

I am waiting right here !!!!! :)

Ok you got the go ahead - can we at least get another hint , since they are Civil War fabrics - I take it they are Civil War blocks ? Are they more traditional ?????

SheriR 07-18-2012 08:24 PM

*****tap*****tap*****tap*****

QuilterMomma 07-19-2012 08:47 AM

well?

Fraew 07-19-2012 09:28 AM

Come on Deb. You know some of us need all the lead time that we can get!

I'm not gonna say who, but I think you might know them. He he.

Deb watkins 07-19-2012 12:31 PM

Okay okay okay - boy you girls are a tough crowd. I looked at several books to make sure the block I chose were CW, not U.RR.......I have decided on three - Shoo Fly - a star with a either a 4 path or solid center (not sure which one I am going to go with) and Double T's. Let me get them made and posted so you can see what I want to consist in this swap.

QuilterMomma 07-19-2012 12:37 PM

Ooooooo, we are all on our computers waiting. How much trouble can we get into just waiting around for you to be sewing these up?

Krisb 07-19-2012 05:05 PM

Love the idea of having a set that includes different patterns. Usually my second block is the best. Learning on first, OK on second, bored by third.

Annaquilts 07-20-2012 04:18 AM

Deb I realized pretty much all my CW type stash is FQ. Do you think any of these patterns will lend themselves to that? Do all fabrics in each block have to be exactly the same? I realize you might not know the answer to that yet so I can wait.

Deb watkins 07-20-2012 06:58 AM

Anna, since we will only be making 4 blocks of each pattern, I am thinking it may be doable Even though the block shows usually just two colors - I am okay with three or even 4 depending on the block itself. My fabric is in the washer now - so I will be cutting out my block samples tonight. I think that will give everyone a better idea once I post them in THE NEW THREAD SWAP......

Annaquilts 07-20-2012 08:22 AM

Thank you Deb. I am looking forward to seeing the samples. I have never made a Double T block but I like the look of it.

Deb watkins 07-20-2012 08:47 AM

The blocks will all be in the Quilterscache.com site- so everyone will be able to make the blocks the exact same way. All blocks will be 12.5 unfinished. Gee, I am still waiting for my fabric to dry!

QuilterMomma 07-20-2012 10:28 AM

With as much fabric as you purchased, which is very nice mind you, no wonder taking time to dry. :D See, you are as anxious as the rest of us now.

dabbler312 07-20-2012 12:50 PM

I've been lurking in the weeds watching the progress of this swap and wish now that I had signed up - I did make a couple of the blocks and sent them on to another board memeber that is making a quilt for a JoAnn employee that will soon be leaving for the military - wish I had taken a photo of the blocks to share they turned out very nice - red white and blue. Thank you Deb for hosting this swap and for posting the link to the pattern. Will watch to see what you decide to do for this next swap - my current LQS BOM is with CW fabrics.

I enjoyed seeing everyone's blocks.

QuilterMomma 07-20-2012 02:38 PM

Oh, Deb is offline right now, she must have gotten the fabric out of the dryer and is working on the new blocks. Excited to see them.
