i have a question....
did i read somewhere that we're supposed to use wool felt for the needle case? if so, why? where do i find it? i got some felt, but it was labelled 'craft felt' and i didn't notice what it was made of, so it's probably not wool...what do i do? or is this 'panic' unnecessary? :)

peachs 12-03-2013 05:58 PM

i feel like an idiot. found my answer. thanks!

I think I now know why some swaps limit you to one spot in the assignment line-up. Kind of time consuming to double check and make sure you didn't get partnered twice with the same person. And this time I looked back at the November sheet and tried not to duplicate any partnering from Nov with Dec. But won't do that again, will be too much to go through all that in January, so it will be pot luck in the assigning!

didn't get assignment sent you a pm!

Welll, to tell the truth, I just copied the info the the previous host of this swap had written up. I really don't know. I think wool felt is expensive and don't think it is neccessary. Any one have any feelings on this? The needle cases I received did not have wool felt, I don't think.

I don't care, as long as it looks nice. wool felt is hard to find. saw some yesterday only colors was natural and a dark grey.
Sent mine out you should get it by Friday, so start looking for it.

Old_Rosebud 12-04-2013 01:09 PM

I have only had one needlecase and the insert was felt (not wool) I believe.

dotcomdtcm 12-04-2013 02:58 PM

Thank you Judy, for planning the swap, amnd to my dear pal Lynnie, for cheering us on.
I will mail tomorrow! Happy " Holidaze". Take some time for yourself! Dotty

lawsonmugs 12-04-2013 04:33 PM

This is only my second time swapping a needle case and I don't really care what it is made of.Mine was just beautiful that I recieveed last month. I use mine for show not usually for actual use.Same with pin cushions. I have a couple that were made for me and are used daily. Most are too nice or cute for use.Just my opinion.Mary

peachs 12-04-2013 07:51 PM

i'm trying to find time to work on mine...looks like i won't be able to until friday. :( but i'll get it done this weekend! i made a sweatshirt for my husband in one day, start to finish, pattern never made before, so i'm sure between friday and saturday i'll be fine. :) maybe i'll even be able to send it saturday! (post office will be closed, but hy-vee takes packages, too!) :)

this swap is such a great, fun idea! thanks so much for starting it!

lynnie 12-04-2013 07:58 PM

this swap is always fun, usually more chatter, but with the holidays, people dropped out. BUT...the next one is after the holidays, so there's no excuse for not swapping. From all of us swappers to our fearless leader, thanks for all your time, effort, sweat and threads. We greatly appreciate you.

paintmejudy 12-05-2013 06:28 AM

Thank you, Lynnie. And if I am not as often lately, I know you are my #1 cheerleader and will keep the pack going! So, chatter on, ladies.

And Dotty, yes, Holidaze -- perfect!

Don't feel bad about not being able to work on your swap item till the weekend. Although I started last weekend, I still need this weekend to finish.

could some one send me a link to sew a needle case. I think felt would be fine if I am not mistaken

Did you have one in particular in mind? There's this one where the whole thing is felt:

And this one that is more quilty in nature:

Aaand when I'm just looking for ideas, I go to pinterest and do a search... this one is just for needlebooks

Oh, I don't envy you that at all. I lived up in Maryland and Virginia for 10 years before heading back south to spoil my nephew and go to school.... I still find it amusing when the south Mississippi shuts down for a dusting of snow.

Old_Rosebud 12-06-2013 05:07 PM

lawsonmugs - I think it looks beautiful! Much better than the sleet and freezing rain most of my area enjoyed today. Of course the frozen stuff fell after we had gotten 3 inches of COLD rain.
I don't think I will be ready to mail this weekend. Its going to be next week before I am even close to being ready. :/

paintmejudy 12-06-2013 06:13 PM

Argentium, the Pinterest site is fabulous! Thanks so much for sharing!

Seems as if some of the gals are stressing about not mailing this week. Hey, it's not a race, you have weeks and weeks left to send.

lynnie 12-06-2013 09:19 PM

wow, those pics of the snow are so relaxing to look at. I love the snow too, but it can be dangerous. Luckily,
we live in a condo. the distance from our gate to the sidewalk is about 16 inches, so tht's all we need to shovel. lucky us. or neighbors have about 15 feet.

Psychomomquilter 12-07-2013 05:44 AM

Argentium , thanks for the info, just wanted to see what kind of material, how they are made and all. I did find out that was shjort & sweet, so I will also try my hand at that one, and will look at those links today. again thanks Mary

lawsonmugs 12-07-2013 09:09 AM

Lynnie 13"???....... That's funny. my driveway is L shaped and about 500 yards just to get to the gravel road where my mailbox is across the road. Judy I was just hoping to get mine out early.I don't like making my partner wait til the last minute. You never know what life will throw your way when you wait til later.Everyone stay safe and warm and enjoy the weekend.Mary

lynnie 12-07-2013 10:36 AM

mary, I live in a condo, and my house is close to the walkway, when we put our fence up we went the farthest we could from the front door, for two reasons, bigger closed in patio and less shoveling. we kinda went over our limit by mistake, buy about 2 feet and the length by about 7 feet. we had just moved in and well, a case of beer and $50 can change a multitude of sins with the old board we had, My dh is on the board now and won't let that type of thing happen. so yes, we have a measly foot of show to shovel by ourselves, the condo does the walkway . worked out to be a win win situation

Mailed to my partners today. Hope they arrive soon. Mail has been erratic to say the least!

peachs 12-07-2013 06:24 PM

Good news, I think...I got my stuff done, just a finishing touch or two left. Going to mail them tomorrow. Of course they won't go out till Mon, but they'll be on their way at least...

I have to say, I'm ashamed of how un-professional they look. But they were my first attempt, and there's no doubt they're home made. I hope my partners aren't disappointed.

Old_Rosebud 12-07-2013 08:38 PM

peachs - I hope I get one! I bet they both look great. I love all the pincushions I have received. Pretty soon I'm going to have to dedicate a bookshelf for them all.

Psychomomquilter 12-08-2013 03:04 AM

I did get my partners, oh and its going to be fun!!

abdconsultant 12-08-2013 05:41 AM

I will be mailing out to my partners Monday.

The reason I joined this swap is for the homemade items. I love homemade. If we wanted perfect industrial made we could just go to the store for p c. or nb. This is just my opinion. We seem to all worry about this.Lol. Just enjoy the swap. That's what it is about. hugs Mary

I know you guys are going to be jealous of my pincushion. :p I finally received one of lynnie's creations and I got the 'santa belly' PC she made. It is so nice that my pitiful pictures just don't do it justice. It is red velvet with glittery snowflake designs. The belt is black velvet with a blinged out belt buckle. Then she made a reindeer pin, red/green glass bead pin, and a 3rd pin with red and green small glass beads. Thanks lynnie - I absolutely adore it! These are all uploaded to my Swaps photo album if anyone want another look at all the great PC's I have received.

Rosebud, Lynnie did a great job and I love the pins. She will have to show us how she made them.

lynnie 12-08-2013 10:26 AM

the pins are easy, just get long pins, I got mine at michaels in the briday dept, and string up your beads and crazy glue them in place,
so glad you liked it.You know, we are all our own worst critics. We always question our own work.

lynnie 12-08-2013 06:16 PM

I'm working on February's pc. what to do??? I have so many ideas, I don't know what to do. I have about 6 weeks on that one. I hope you all like it, coz one of you is getting it, or maybe two of you. Feb is easy. March isn't two difficult, may june, august are. so I need to work on them. the ideas are flying now.

Psychomomquilter 12-09-2013 08:26 AM

lawsonmugs 12-09-2013 09:04 AM

lynnie 12-09-2013 02:12 PM

peachs 12-09-2013 05:52 PM
