Not a part of this swap, but inspired by it. Violet's prompt was to try something new, so I bought a couple of bias tape makers to try them out. This led to the inspiration to do a science-y wall hanging. I decided to make an oxytocin molecule (aka the love hormone) out of bias tape, fusible adhesive, and applique. Such a fun project! Thanks for the inspiration Violet!

Jess,
That is awesome. I love it! |
So nice to see your updates. :)
I have fabric ironed and will be working on the unicorn center this week....Lord willing. |
Great Jess, hope everyone is as inspired as you are.

Hello Ladies!! Just 3 more days until November 15th and our 1st border mail date. How is everyone doing?? I know a few are already done...can't wait to see pictures of the others.
I finished Hav4boys center today and it will be in tomorrow's mail to Wendy. I decided to add some princesses. I really wanted to find some "paper doll/dress up" fabric but couldn't at the few shops I went to. *btw..sorry I went with just a basic piano key border...I had intentions of something a little more detailed but my dad passed away last week and not a lot of creative juices flowing yet...hope you still like it!! |

I received my center back with border added by Wendy...sorry the picture isn't very good, I don't have a place with good lighting to take the picture in the house and wanted to make sure to get it in the mailbox before the mailman came this morning. I had sent her a message shortly after hearing about my dad because I wasn't sure if I would be able to finish my border and even feel like continuing with the RR. But after seeing her addition and having my border added to my first center, I've decided I will keep going.
Wendy will be getting Hav4boys center from me Violetsunnus will be getting my (Carriem) center from me Both are in the mail today. |
Hello Ladies,
I am just getting back stateside. If I get back home before midnight Monday 15th November I will drop my package at a fedex location, if not I will drop it off at fedex on Tuesday 16, November. Thank you, Violetsunnus |
Love this Carrie. It looks great. Kai is going to love this.

Nice add Violet.

I will definitely need this quilt top in hand at the fabric store to buy fabric. I do not have any of these colors. What a great reason to shop!

Thank you. I am glad it worked. I do not usually make quilts with straight lines or blocks that have been done before. I usually create and make quilts from my mind, so this is new for me, but I am so much enjoying trying something new. This is a quilt I am working on now -trying to get it better Attachment 636511
Have a great day. |

Have a great day. Wow Violetsunnus! That is very pretty but looks really hard to make. I can't even wrap my head around it. Is it applique or pieced? Thank you for sharing pictures of what you make. Very interesting. |
It is pieced. I have not done appliqué before. Carriem’s center is appliqué I believe and I am thinking of trying to appliqué a block or two for her border. This round robin is giving me the inspiration to step out of my box and try new techniques and learn thru others. I am already looking forward to doing another. Question-would anyone be interested in doing block swaps where you make 11 unique blocks a month and then you swap 10 of those blocks for 10 other blocks one from each person in the group and you do it every month for the next six months giving you 60 blocks. Thinking of something like that after the holidays and if anyone has any ideas please share them with me and if you are interested let me know and if you think anyone else would be interested.
Thank you.. |

Kai is up today. I am making mermaids to rest in the water fabric at the bottom of the quilt. I’m putting one mermaid in the center of each side what do you think?

Carrie,,, i’m so glad you didn’t feel the need to quit. As soon as I saw your center I knew I had to make the bowties m. Many years ago I did a round robin (and actually this was a row by) and it’s three dimensional! it took me 20 years to get the feel for it and then I got quilted recently. We went to Alaska in 2018 (cruise) and got the printed panels on the trip. Prior to that nothing worked properly and I just could not finish the quilt. I’m really glad that I waited because I think it’s magnificent now. Before it was just the white and blue. Anyway all that to say that I had just bought all that Judi Roth or mild fabric to sew I had everything I needed to take care of your quilt…. What with all that I’m really glad you’re sticking with it.
|
Off to play with my mermaids. Have a great day kiddies.

I received the bird quilt from Violet, working on some paper piecing for my border!
|
Hello!! Has everyone received their quilt ready for the 2nd border to be added?
I have the barn center...worked on that this week. PP'ing is done, now need to finish the rest of the border and add to the quilt....should have some more time to sew tomorrow morning. |

Violetsunnus Potted Plant Center theme, Be Daring! I added a round border of a bright, solids and fitted pattern. My comfort zone is more muted fabrics and I normally do not work with solids or for that matter use orange as a back ground. The whole Round Robin is new to me and trying to make a border fit and going around a corner is challenging but if it comes together gratifying. I hope Violet likes my addition. She mentioned liking bold colors.
|
Great job you your addition Anna!! Very vibrant and I think a good choice!

I LOVE IT!!! Gosh, I am so excited and enjoying this whole process. Seeing people do things they have not done before as well as trying new things myself. I have the fuzzies!😁😁😁
|
I was looking at those coroners. I think they are great. I certainly like the corners. Your work is appreciated.

Bird quilt is on it's way. The applique in the center is gorgeous and so detailed in real life! I decided to continue the bird theme with some paper pieced birds in the corners and bird houses of various shapes and sizes on the border!
|
Very nice. Love the bird houses

Hello!! Some great additions done this month. I just got albums updated...looks like 2 more to be posted.
Will everyone be able to finish up and mail by the 15th? |
Well, this is a first for me. I will be mailing late. Hopefully by Thursday. Helping care for my mom has been tough the last couple of weeks. I have a plan for the Hippo Anniversary quilt and can hopefully get it done by Thursday's mail.
|
Thanks for the update!! Caring for parents can be trying that is for sure.

Hello received the round yesterday. I will be mailing this round tomorrow and sending tracking info.
|
No, not yesterday Monday. Sorry I am missing days, today is Wednesday not Tuesday. So I am 1 day behind. You know how we have fall back an hour, spring forward an hour-we should also have fall back a day, but I guess that means we would also need to have spring forward a day as well. Just the ravings of a quilting Lady. Have a good day.
