I agree! Very sweet!

Now here is the quilt I sent Nancy in Louisiana ... that very sweet lady claims that she liked it.

Looks like an ordinary striped quilt, no?
What you can't see is the quilting ... which was done in variegated thread ...
Here's the back ...

(mumble, mumble, the woman has no patience, mumble ....) Well I was just about to load my camera card into the computer to show y'all Krystyna's quilt, but she beat me to it. I was waiting for a sunny day to show it off to its best advantage -- and to-dah! today we finally have sun!

But let me tell you about the quilt ... it's GORGEOUS!! The colors remind me of our trip to Hawaii; the blues and purples swirled with greens and a touch of bright yellow. The quilting looks like the ripples on the top of the ocean after a big wave crashed over the lava rocks in front of where we stayed. Now the strips ... she made some of the skinniest strips I've ever seen -- we're talking millimeters here. I don't know how she did it, but that's our Krystyna. There is A LOT of labor (and a lot of threadwork) in this little gem, and I'm proud to be the owner. Thanks, again, Krystyna.

Krystyna 02-27-2013 07:54 AM

Oooo! Nancy, I would love it if you could send me a photo of the stitching on the front. It was so hard to capture without the right light. And there is never the right light in this apartment. Sorry to have jumped the gun. :(

GirlLivingForJesus 02-27-2013 07:57 AM

Krystyna did you hand quilt it? It's really pretty! I love the color of the binding! And the back is awesome!!
Thanks for the encouragement by the way! I'll be back in April to do a doll swap! This month is really really busy for me! Not sure how much sewing I'll get done! Ladies on here have been helping me so much so it should be better next time!
Love Ya Gals!

urgodschild2 02-27-2013 08:25 AM

Krystyna.....I am so encouraged by the back work. LOL. I am learning how to quilt on my machine. Doing the meandering seems easy at first but it can be tricky. I got hung up on trying so hard not to cross over a line. My quilt teacher told all of us.....why can't you cross over a line?????? Where is it written that you can't do that.???? So I am practicing the meandering like you. I love the colors of your quilt. Of course those are my colors anyways. LOL.

Krystyna 02-27-2013 08:29 AM

GirlLFJ - No, that was free motion quilting. I'm still learning. Looking forward to your return. In the meanwhile, practice, practice, practice!

AlaskaAlice has received my DQ and asked me to post a photo. Glad you liked it Alice. I also sent her an 'Australia' mugrug :)

I now know why I never work with striped fabrics much, especially not to bind with :)

dabbler312 03-01-2013 10:13 PM

I'm being a nervous nellie - I mailed my dq to OK on Monday - it should have arrived by now - sorry I can't track it - when I cleaned out my purse yesterday I mistakenly grabbed the wrong postal receipt and shredded it. I hope it gets there soon.
