Partners will be assigned on 1 October and the dolls need to be postmarked on or before 5 October. If 10 days isn't enough time, you may wish to wait for the next swap.

If you haven't participated in one of my swaps before, all I ask is that you read this first post and send your doll on/before the deadline.

I don't send or PM a pattern. If you do a little research, there are many helpful tips and some patterns posted in some of the other doll swap threads (see bottom of this post for links), among many other places on the www. Just keep in mind the guidelines.

There is info for each type of doll below...

RULE #1: READ ALL THE RULES AND ALL OF THE FIRST POST OF THIS THREAD!!!!

Anyone with a no-send will not be added to the swap list.
You must be 18 years old or older to participate.
AFTER I assign partners, you need to PM your mailing info to the two members that will be making your dolls. Please do this promptly.

"RULES":
1. Thoroughly read this first post.
2. If you have "no sends" (dolls not yet sent from previous swaps), complete those before signing up for another one. Lack of communication can look like a no send. A post needs to be made when you receive a doll from a member.
3. You make the dolls from start to finish. Please don't buy doll bodies or pre-made clothing--that isn't fair. They are a lot of fun. Everyone is on a different level.
4. If you want to participate, make it clear in your post so I don't accidentally sign up an innocent by-stander! (yes, I did).
5. It is not required that we send a gift (candy, fat quarters, threads, etc.) but a lot of members do, and it very nice. That's your choice. ;)
6. HAVE FUN!

This is a swap where you will make two dolls to be sent to two different participating members. You will receieve two dolls from two different members in return.

NON-DOTEE (REGULAR-TYPE):
What/how: (for one doll) Take two 6 to 8-inch fabric squares--right sides together--and cut out your doll-shape. Sew, leaving an opening for stuffing, turn right-side-out. Stuff. Stitch shut. You may wish to draw a pattern on paper first, then trace onto the fabric. Each doll will be unique.
Or do it completely your own way, staying within the 6-8" requirements.

NOW GET CREATIVE! Add clothing, hair, buttons, beads, ANYTHING you desire! Most of all HAVE FUN!

These dolls don't weigh much, so they can be shipped pretty cheap. They will go first class in most cases, unless you are using something REALLY heavy in/on your doll.

Don't forget to take pictures of your dolls before you send them out. Post pictures of the dolls you receive, and of the dolls you make after they have been received by their new mommy.

I will assign partners in one week on October 1. That will give you a couple of days to exchange addresses. Dolls need to be mailed NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 5!

This swap is open INTERNATIONALLY...not just USA.

Be sure to remember to take pictures of the dolls you make in case someone you send to doesn't have a camera or a way to post pictures. DON'T post your pictures until after the recipient has gotten her doll so as not to spoil any surprises. I think it's neat to see photos of the doll in her original home and in her new home.

So far, we have: moosegirl, Up North, barbsbus, Gwyn, Ruth Camp, sapdoggie, and possibly me...depending on when they schedule my DD's CT scan and some other issues I'm having right now. Had I thought of it earlier, I would've loved to've done a trick-or-treat bag swap!

Oooh I wish I could do this one:( I have the FLU and I'm behind on some other swaps that are due out next week. I don't think I'll have the time to do a doll. I need fabric and can't afford it right now anyway *sniff*. But I'll definitely catch the next one. I can't wait to see what every one does.

Gee our doll swap seems to have shrunk. Oh buttercream how about running a pin cushion swap.....I think you mentioned it once.....I could use some...I really only have one..of course my dog chewed up a few...before i got to use them.......hmmmmmsounds like a good idea :D :D :D

Ruth, a pincushion swap is on my list. It's already approved with the mod. I've just been waiting for a good time to host; when I'm more settled.

Maybe the reason we don't have many doll swappers this time is that I haven't been on the Quilting Board much lately. I don't know. I know some have dropped because they have not received dolls from partners on more than one occasion. Hopefully it will pick back up.

Now, I'm going to go work on assigning partners for this one.

I'm so packed with other obligations, I can't take on learning a new thing, or I'd join in on the doll swap. I would probably be more likely to do a pin cushion swap...that sounds like fun too.

I'm not sure when to do the pin cushion swap. It may be better to wait until after the holidays since everyone will be wanting to get those big projects done. I'll be glad to have you for any of my swaps, though. :)

moosegirl's witch she made you looks almost identical to the one she sent me. I just love those legs! Up North's scarecrow is such a cutie, but I think she meant to send that pumpkin pin cushion to me! (ok, not really). I love pumpkins. Everyone is doing such a wonderful job on these. I can't wait to see more.
