Help me decide a theme

I have joined an "Applique Add-on" round robin. Each person will create a background theme and the rest of the group will add appliques to the theme. For instance, one girl is going with an under the sea theme--making a blue background with a few seaweeds. Others would add fish, lobster, nets or whatever they think. One girl is doing a Christmas theme and her background is simply an empty room. Others will add a tree, fireplace, gifts, etc. Someone suggested a house with rooms and each person could fill a window (if it is an outside view) or the room (if it is an inside view).

My problem is I cannot think of a theme. I really don't want to go with the examples just because I'm not creative enough to think of something unique to me.

Will you please offer some suggestions?

Judy

While walking in my garden, I found ... (Background could be sparsely flowered or soil colored)

Things I learned from my mother ... (Background heart fabric - could applique word or picture or both)

I have never participated in a "Applique Add-on" but thought these ideas might work.

How about a bookshelf background? You do the books leaving open spaces for them to add bowl of flowers, picture frames, bowl of fruit, opera glasses, etc...? How about doing a shelf with a the pieced fish bowl pattern and have them add sea shells, turtle etc.... How about doing a few basket blocks and have them add what they like to the baskets, fruit, flowers, leaves...

A sewing theme would be fun to have. Lots of things to choose from. Or how about a kitchen.

I think I would create a landscape scene with about 1/2 the background a "water" fabric and then a tree line at the horizon and then a sky fabric.
Appliqués could be a dock, an island, some trees and birds, kids playing in the water.

What about a quilt shop background or a living room scene?

A playground scene. An amusement park. A church. A wedding. A schoolroom. A zoo or safari.

Don't you think it would be great to do one with your sewing room as the background?
