OMGOSH! Six sets = 40 5" squares of THIRTY-SIX prints... I nearly had to get 36 prints! Do you know much cutting that is? It's a good thing mmonohan's so good!

I don't have fabrics picked out or bought yet but please put me on the list for 3 sets. I have lots of little ones myself still and several grand children with more on the way. This is much better then buying FQ or 1/4 yard cuts to get those prints.

catpawski 05-12-2012 10:31 AM

Everyone...........Have a wonderful.......fun.........exciting Mother's day weekend..................

mmonohon 05-12-2012 11:48 AM

luvTooquilt, I received you package today. The fabrics are great.

catpawski 05-13-2012 05:03 AM

Everybody.........I have a question..........

Do you find it much easier to find feminine fabric for the I spy block? I find the masculine fabric has larger designs....and I want to balance things out when sending in squares...............

I also find the feminine fabric tickle my fancy more............

I tend to buy gender neutral or boy fabric. It is a habit because I had two sons. But I LOVE all the girlie fabrics. So far I have only used the girlie I spies for gift quilts. I am still collecting for a large boy I spy (almost ready to sew).

To all the Moms -- Happy Mother's Day!

MaryMo 05-13-2012 11:38 AM

because there is so much more "girlie" fabric out there, I tend to buy (and make) boy fabric but surprisingly it is difficult to find fabrics more appropriate for old boys or males in general. I'm thinking about making an all plaid I Spy .... if there is such a thing.

luvTooQuilt 05-13-2012 05:54 PM

I look for the 'out of the ordinary' type of fabrics.. but lately its been from my stash as I need to dwindle it down some.. Been spring cleaning and been finding more and more fabric that Ive forgotten all about.. So why not use it !!

Annaquilts 05-14-2012 09:52 PM

I fully agree with you. Also even for a girl quilt I like neutral prints and fun prints. I bought some fabrics today and tried to avoid the very feminine ones.

sent off I-Spy package to you today, Michelle .... hope it arrives ok. The postal worker was having a difficult time figuring out the stamp compiliation on the return envelope - he wanted to put a printed label on it, not stamps. He must have been having a worse day than me because it was quite a discussion to get him to understand that I was sending along an envelope that was to return to me. I didn't get them wrapped tightly either ... I was afraid that was beyond him today. Poor Guy!!

mmonohon 05-15-2012 07:19 PM

MaryMo.....I will watch for the package. Sorry you had issues with the postal worker. It took me some long very polite explanations with one of the postal workers here on my first swap. Think that I made an impression because now all the employees seem to know what to do even when I have never been to their counter.

Hooked.....received your package today.

Only 13 people more that need to send in their package. Then I can sort and return. If anyone needs my address, just pm me.

Package mailed off to you today. Hope it arrives safely! Thanks so much for hosting this swap. -- Elaine

KarenR 05-17-2012 07:44 AM

Oh rats- fussy cut mine and I need to go shopping today. I did not realize how much extra material I needed. I'm off to go shopping. I hope to have them in the mail today.

I did not have enough airplanes of the same material.

MaryMo 05-17-2012 11:41 AM

beautiful quilts, SheriR. great for naptime. the pattern of the first quilt is very interesting, I will have to try it.

KarenR 05-17-2012 12:42 PM

Mine are on their way.
I put the stamp on the priority envelope already and put it in the envelope.

mmonohon 05-17-2012 02:37 PM

SheriR- great quilts.
KarenR-I will keep my eyes out for it.

mmonohon 05-17-2012 03:31 PM

Mary Mo....got your package today.

Yosamitesa 05-18-2012 06:45 AM

I'm getting mine out this weekend, I promise. I couldn't get into my sewing/ironing area to iron and cut...hubby and friend are doing construction on the house...

Annaquilts 05-18-2012 07:46 AM

I looked a fussy cutting and it is hard to see how many will come out. I had a little over a yard of a fabric with little trucks but I ended up not doing it as I was not sure if I could get enough of them out of it.

SheriR - Love your pictures. Can you tell me the width of the green sashing inbetween.
I'm giving these to my son to put together. If he puts sashing in then he will not have to match up the 4 corners.
Its going to be his 4H project. I'm soooo excited to do this swap.

Are you planning on doing another one mmonohon? I saw a neet pocket watch material, tool material, a realllly preatty dragonfly material, and a mcdonalds material. I should not go shopping.
Let me know if you plan on doing another one - please!

SheriR 05-18-2012 03:45 PM

[QUOTE=KarenR;5226381]SheriR - Love your pictures. Can you tell me the width of the green sashing inbetween.]

Karen, I contacted my daughter, she said she used about 1.5" sashings. Good luck to your son. :D

Does that mean I can begin buying fabric. Would it be the same size squares? I just saw some online - OH MY - THIS could be a fever. I saw frying pans, bike tires, fruits and vegtables, coffee cups, etc.

mmonohon 05-19-2012 08:49 PM

KarenR....same size squares.

Annaquilts 05-20-2012 10:03 PM

I ended up buying 9 fabrics already for any future swap. Keep me in the loop. Ready set and go!
