Owlie, I don't mind getting doubles. We knew we were short a few swappers. (scold) You should not be digging into your modest stash.

I think it is a good idea to hold off for a few months. I am trying to get some different fabric ordered to play with. (just have to wait for the paychecks.) I do have next months ready to mail though. Will get that out soon. I will look for you in October if that is what everyone else goes for. :)

owlvamp 08-02-2014 09:15 PM

Thanks Judith! All the blocks are swapped. So Monday they will go out. Be on the look out.

I agree on waiting . Plus with school coming up and everyone getting ready for that. I think we all need a break.

Judith1005 08-03-2014 04:13 AM

Owlie, I think if I get too many doubles, I will pull a couple for a friend. But, I will resend some back to you for your charity work if that's okay. It will be in my blocks for next month. Clearly labeled for you. I'd like to see them first. Your very generous to take time to do this. Thank you.

PeginCO 08-03-2014 05:44 AM

Thank you so much for all you do, Owlvamp! I'm definitely ok with waiting since school start up is always an adjustment. If I don't seem like I'm around much, that's why. If you remember, shoot me a pm when you post the sign up. I'll try to remember to look - like I said, it gets CRAZY when school starts!

owlvamp 08-03-2014 01:25 PM

i understand its crazy here getting everyone what they need and then in paces they need to be.

Judith i am so okay with you doing that for a friend and also sending to me. i hope everyone likes what they receive.. it all else fails donate to a charity. thats what i do. i will post and will pm you PeginCo.

I'm always fine with doubles. Thanks so much for hosting and for all that you do.

If others are looking for something to do with doubles, here is a matching game I made for a friend's kids. I used 2 different prints of the same object, but the directions I was following actually called for 2 of the same print as a match.

Here is the link to the instructions I followed, though I did 5" squares instead of 4 1/2". I did 12 matches (24 squares total).

I made a mat Ching game like this for my granddaughter. I made a set of foods, a set of games ( sports), animals, and what I called characters (princesses, cartoon characters, books, etc). fun for her and fun for me to do. found out this am at breakfast with them that she is going to be big sister! yeah!

have our quilt guild Cuddle Quilt workshop next weekend, so am looking forward to sharing all of the great charms I have collected.

I can see my typing has suffered on my iPad, but hopefully you get the idea! LOL

mrshalibut 08-03-2014 06:50 PM

Owlvamp, thank you for hosting these! I know it's a lot of work.

I would say I prefer to have 21 swappers before the swap begins. Someone said previously that we knew we had fewer swappers this time, but I don't feel like I can say at the last minute, "Never mind. There aren't enough swappers so I'm not sending in my squares."

I never minded receiving doubles as an inevitable part of swapping, but to tell the truth, I do the swaps intending to get more unique squares, not bunches of doubles to give away.

Is there some way to make the deadline float, depending on how many swappers there are? ("Open to the first 25 swappers"?)

Judith1005 08-03-2014 07:08 PM

Great suggestions Ladies on how to use up the doubles. Very creative!

owlvamp 08-04-2014 02:37 PM

Yes I can make the dead line a little longer and also can wait for at least 21 swappers to close.
I love the idea of doubles Library.Lil.

Okay all packages are gone and on there way to your home. Thanks everyone!!

Judith1005 08-04-2014 02:40 PM

Got my charms! Thanks, everyone! Yes, that Viking is awesome...Also like the lipstick!

Sadly, a couple of mine are not usable because the image has been cut in half. (Not a full image on the square.) Please remember to fussy cut and check all your squares, peeps. :)

Library.Lil 08-08-2014 07:19 AM

I got mine! Thanks everyone! My absolute favorite is the stuffed baked potatoes!

What plans do people have for the winter/Christmas charms? This was an especially good batch of Christmas charms! I want to make an advent calender, but of course I only need 24 squares for that so I need other ideas.

What at about a quilted Christmas card holder?! If you look on Pinterest you'll see lots of ideas. I like the Santa with the tumbling gifts, and the gifts could be I spy charms (like wrapping paper) - you might need to border them to make them a little larger.

PeginCO 08-08-2014 07:55 AM

You could also use them for placemats, pillows, pockets on a Christmas apron, as "gifts" like above but in a mini quilt wall hanging....

Bullock2us 08-08-2014 03:35 PM

Received mine also. So exciting when they come-almost like Christmas! I am going to use my winter ones for a winter I spy quilt. There were so many cute ones. THANKS for doing this swap owlvamp and all the hard work you put into it!

owlvamp 08-09-2014 08:48 AM

Glad to see they are arriving.

Agree - please fussy cut!

Thanks to Owlvamp for hosting these swaps - I appreciate your time, especially with the health things you have had going on in your family!

owlvamp 08-10-2014 02:00 PM

We did have a few new comers that i pm about fussy cutting. We need to learn but for some of us it comes in time. I have some to but will make a piano border with those that weren't fussy cut. Sorry ladies i hope over all you are happy.

Judith1005 08-10-2014 02:29 PM

Hey Owlie,

I'll be fine with the blocks I received. I'll use them up in one way or another. I really didn't see that many that I would deem unusable. In fact, lol NONE. So I'm a happy camper. No problems here.

PeginCO 08-10-2014 03:36 PM

Didn't mean anything other than a friendly reminder! I'm actually quite happy with my charms!

Hello Ladies,

I definitely will join the next swap. I couldn't get my act together to join these last two. I have a great niece who will be 1 on Halloween so I see a lot of I Spy quilts in my future. :)

Judith1005 08-11-2014 04:21 AM

Super duper oldcatlady, here's the sign ups for next month. http://www.quiltingboard.com/member-...t-t249177.html
