Well since everyone is showing their hexies here is mine. Chicken in a basket is a very cute idea. Love the little hexies. My hexies are 1 3/4" huge compared to 3/8 " and 3/4". Ladybug did you hand quilt the baby quilt? Love the pantie purse and angel ornament.

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-19-2015 06:25 PM

I will be sending out my pkg tomorrow. My FIL is out of the hospital and doing quite well.

Ladybug 1938 01-19-2015 06:26 PM

Yes I hand quilt most of my quilts, the only thing I don't hand quilt are table runners and place mats... Love he looks of hand quilting ...

klaws 01-19-2015 07:14 PM

Rosemary, love the baby quilt! Also you received a nice little gift from Mary. That's really nice of her.

lynnie 01-19-2015 07:38 PM

Rosemary, love the baby quilt, the earrings and panties. Mary makes a great pkg!
Love the quilt and it looks hand quilted. I love hand quilting.

Dwina, love your hexies. love seeing how everyone does them differently.

Congratulations, Great Grandma to be! Am I understanding this right? They started out to adopt a Chinese baby and she ended up pregnant, too? No matter how it worked out, congrats are in order! Five of our kids are adopted, two from Vietnam. I can't tell you how many times I heard stories of folks who were having trouble conceiving only to begin the journey through adoption AND end up pregnant. I am a big adoption advocate, I am so happy to hear of your coming great grand babies! Woo Hoo! :D

Deb

lynnie 01-19-2015 09:21 PM

Rosemary, so happy about the baby too. what a wonderful surprise. soooo, what are you making??? any pictures yet?

JuneBillie 01-19-2015 09:35 PM

Pat and Dwina I love the hexie patterns you both made your hexies into. I love them done that way.

That is a really pretty chicken pincushion and needle case with the bowl from MelanieLynn. I love the chickens too. I have a beautiful little white chicken with the regular chicken colors. They are so handy.

Rosemary that is a pretty baby quilt, and your goodies as a get well package are really nice.

I still make hexies too. I have tried different sizes. I don't like working with those bigger than 2" or those smaller than 1". lol...

I have a routine now where whatever I am working on when I finish cutting I then check to see if any scraps are big enough for the postage stamps and cut those, then below that and they go into my zip lock bag to save for my doggie beds stuffing. So I waste nothing this way.

Went to see my dad today. He is doing well. Had a good visit.

Take care everyone.

lynnie 01-19-2015 09:38 PM

Susan, I know you were worried about your visit with your dad. so glad it went o.k. for him today.
Love to see what others are doing with their hexes. mine is going very slowly.

JuneBillie 01-19-2015 09:46 PM

Thank you lynnie. You have a good head start on your hexies.
My dad was much better than I was led to believe. Me and Gene have to just go see for ourselves now.

ctyankee 01-20-2015 03:51 AM

Pat & Dwina -- love your hexies! I didn't get that far putting mine together! LOL

That baby quilt is lovely! And the angel is adorable, too.

Seems like I missed a lot that's been going on here (& only one day has passed)!

Everyone, have a wonderful Tuesday! :)

lawsonmugs 01-20-2015 08:19 AM

Sis, I love the quilt. Susan glad your dad is doing so well now. All these hexies are so pretty. For some reason I just don't enjoy making them,I do better making yo-yo's.

klaws 01-20-2015 08:32 AM

Everybody listen up! So far there are 6 people who I have not heard from about mailing their packages. Please do so as soon as you can. I've never had to say this before but if someone doesn't follow through on their obligation, then they will be banned from this swap. They have to have a darn good excuse. I haven't had this happen but it has happened in other swaps too many times. I don't mean to sound cruel but it isn't right to have your swap partner receive nothing. There is always an angel in the wings to fill in when necessary but it shouldn't have to be that way.

lawsonmugs 01-20-2015 09:02 AM

My partner should hAVE RECIEVED HER SWAP SATURDAY. according TO THE POST OFFICE. I HAVEN'T RECIEVED ONE EITHER.

Quilty-Louise 01-20-2015 10:29 AM

OOPS
Sorry I forgot to send you a PM that my package is shipping
today. I DID set it up for you to be notified by email from the
USPS regarding this package.

Let me know if you need me to send you a pm with the tracking
info besides the email.

Congrats to Rosemary on being the soon to be great grandma again. Glad to hear the your father is ok Susan and Dwina great news about your FIL. Your hexie is really nice and how are you going to finish it. Rosemary what a nice baby quilt and your hand quilting is really nice. Mary what a thoughtful idea for your get well package for Sis. Aren't the angels easy to make. That's a lot of people to have not sent their swaps in. Karen I love your avatar. Is it a mug rug? Very nice.
It was snowing here today but I had to go out anyway to let the dogs out and then get groceries and by the time I got home it had stopped. I'm glad it didn't stop while I was out or I would have been on the ride longer than I was. More snow for tomorrow so I might be staying home (except for the dogs and Isabella). Ct it's been busy on here and I have to either take notes or keep back reading. I found 2 more of my unfinished hexies. The white one will never be finished as I don't like it. I was one hexie off.
Everyone have a great day

klaws 01-20-2015 12:13 PM

My avatar is the mini quilt I made for the January mini swap and sent to Elisabrat.

Patchesnposies 01-20-2015 12:19 PM

I love all of the hexies but I am so intimidated to try making them! They are beautiful. I found an old quilt top (30's fabric) that had never been layered and quilted, at a local thrift store. I made it into curtains for my daughter's room. I batted them and added backing though I didn't do any elaborate quilting. So they are sort of insulated and won't fade in the bright New Mexican sun/heat. They are getting old now and my daughter is now a teenager. She loves all things celtic, so I am seeing some new curtains in her future.

I may have to take the old curtains and re-purpose them. I love seeing all of the photos from you hexie making ladies!

klaws 01-20-2015 12:54 PM

Louise, I just checked my email and saw the message that you mailed the package. I got the tracking number from there so you don't need to send me a PM with it. Thanks!

lynnie 01-20-2015 01:29 PM

Pat, thanks for the great pictures of your hexies.
I love them and they are addicting to do. I love them
I need to find small items to make with them.

thanks for the pictures

Pat -- you're inspiring me to get something done with these hexies! I have a pile of both sizes & I haven't done a thing with them -- yet. Love the ones you made. But I know when things don't go just right, it becomes a UFO!

I thought I would find my p/c & n/c package in today's mail, but it wasn't there. I think the final day to mail is today, so I must be patient just a little longer. Maybe by the end of the week?

Found another quilt I made one of my first, all hand quilted, when my hands didn't hurt so bad when I quilt.... This was about 15 years ago.
Added another of my favorites.

klaws 01-20-2015 04:41 PM

Wow, Rosemary, you do absolutely fabulous quilting. I love them both!!!

ctyankee 01-20-2015 05:02 PM

Ladybug, those quilts are gorgeous! Love the double wedding ring quilt! Oh, & that appliqué quilt is scrumptious! Reminds me of the one I did almost 31 years ago -- unfortunately, never did finish it, just the top! I still have it , of course, because it's my wedding quilt ... must take it out of hiding.

lynnie 01-20-2015 05:04 PM

Rosemary, beautiful work, love the dwr, on my to do list, someday.

ctyankee, are you jumping on the bandwagon of the hexies too?
I'm on my second one. first one went to th cat (50x60) or so. 3/4" she got GMFG.
she looks good on it.

ctyankee 01-20-2015 06:23 PM

I bet she does, Lynnie!

I plan to do something with the hexies, but don't know quite what. I don't see myself making a bed quilt with them -- that would take years! Someone suggested a doll quilt for my doll cradle -- much more likely to happen. Until I figure it out, I will just keep making hexies. I really like the 3/8" size.

lynnie 01-20-2015 07:22 PM

3/8 is way to small for me, can barely hold it with arthritic hands.
having a hard time with the onw i'm doing now. I want to kinda get it squared up so if I want to quilt it, i'll have something usable. right now. the cat insists on sitting on it.
just finished making another needlecase. I think I've made about 30 of them now.
it will be coming to an end. I think the next pincushion I do will e with the bag that holds threads. madea few of them. they are fun and quick to make. anyone like those?

Ohmigosh. These are gorgeous! I especially love the last one. Is that called the whigrose? Or am I confusing it with another block pattern. Rosemary you are SO talented!!!

klaws 01-21-2015 04:50 AM

People should be receiving the packages. I want to see some pictures! :)

Oksewnsew 01-21-2015 08:02 AM

I haven't received anything yet, but my pkg is close to the area where mine went. I love it when Priority says "2 day delivery" and a week later it's still on it's way!

roserips 01-21-2015 09:47 AM

You girls and your wee hexie's not a group I am joining I can admire but need to finish way to many UFO's hopefully I will get one or two done this year. Finishing up my PC and plan to mail today so Later.

Rosemary both of your quilts are wonderful. Your hand quilting is awesome. That's one thing that I don't do. I guess I should learn how but I know I am never making a big quilt. CT I really love those tiny hexies. Maybe I'll give it a try. I think that Fiskars has a punch that size. I also make yoyos and here is a doll quilt and the bed it goes on.
Snow again today. I've already been out to shovel twice and debating a third time before I have to pick her up from school. Sick of snow
Everyone have a great day

lynnie 01-21-2015 10:31 AM

Pat, love your tiny yo yos and the quil
wheni was a kid about 8 d tiny working hnds, I made yo os too.they were the size of a wooden spool when I startd and finished up at about 1/2 -3/8". I was a kid remember, and made one of those clowns everyone was making. remember those??? I would love to make one now, but the hands don't want to work on little ones. yours are beautiful! such a pretty bed quilt! I love it!!!

nhnative 01-21-2015 02:24 PM

I have one of those clowns. I got it a few years ago at an estate sale. They now have patterns at JoAnn's for them. I thought we'd see some pc pics today. Here's a pic of my newest hexie that I'm working on. 7 big flowers and 10 half ones.

ctyankee 01-21-2015 02:47 PM

Wow, Pat, lovely yo-yo quilt! The penny is a great idea to let us know exactly how small the yo-yo's are. Sweet little doll bed! I want to make yo-yo's, too, but right now I have enough on my plate. Just finished the top of a baby quilt & after quilting it will have to get a t-shirt quilt done by the end of April. Yes, I think that's pushing it, but the girl who wants it will be moving out-of-state in May.

Elisabrat, my house is festooned with cows -- black & white ones. When I lived in Ireland, the house we rented was on a farm, & the farmer had 5 cows. Well, actually, 4 bullocks & one little red bull. I thought it was heavenly having the cows there. They liked to gather in front of the huge kitchen window & stare inside! I named them all. I still remember the day the guy came to the farm to turn the little bull into a bullock -- I heard his screams clearly. Eventually they went off to market (or wherever). I did not name their replacements.

lynnie 01-21-2015 03:08 PM

Pat, nice work! how big are your hexes?

ctyankee, a bullock is a bull with his bouncies cut off??? and he screamed??? poor little guy.
and they wonder why bulls are mean. cows like to be voyeurs on us people??

thanks for the pictures.

Ladybug 1938 01-21-2015 04:57 PM

Thanks for all the compliments on my quilts, I won't do anymore that big, but do them about twin size or throw size, putting binding on for two gals this week, hope to have them done by Monday so I can take them to them on Tuesday, have a Ladybug meeting... Love all the pictures of the hexies and yo-yo's. One of the young gals that came with us to the meeting today ( guild) loved the Cathedral Window quilt so will show her how the next time I see her, will make her samples to go by... Will then get her and her sister into the hexies.. LOL NOt sure of the name of that quilt, was my first Applique quilt...
