Pat, I am glad no one was killed. Hopefully, no one is terribly injured. Was it foggy? Or, just slick with ice?

We are in a valley/basin at the foot of the southern most tip of the Rocky Mountains and we almost never get harsh weather. In 2010 we had a storm that brought us a low of 15 below zero and the utilities had sold all of our natural NM gas to other states, there was NO way to heat our homes (by gas anyway) and we spent 3 days huddled around our fireplace. All 8 of us in one bedroom, at night, piled on top of each other to create heat. Not a winter we will soon forget. No one in NM is prepared for that, unless you live up in the Mts.

We actually have snow falling right now. We won't get much, I don't believe, but enough for the kids to enjoy until it melts. I lived in SD for almost a decade and had enough sub zero weather and snow to last me two life times. lol I do not miss it.

For everyone living where Mother Nature can be unpredictable please stay safe and stay warm!

Wow, I didn't see the news yet. Just got home from work a short while ago. I didn't hear about a 50-car pile-up. I hope everyone is okay. What a dreadful experience! (~shudder~shudder~)

Arthur is a sweet boy. He'll be 15 years old this year & has bobcat markings on his underbelly. And he's 25-lbs. Not fat, just big! His brother Merlin was just slightly less poundage but equally charming.

I'm looking for additional goodies before I send my package out; I find this the hardest part! I want to be like Lynnie & get everything done a month or 2 in advance!

Everybody have a great evening!

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-02-2015 03:33 PM

Well not sure what I'm gonna do yet. My pal is someone who I have had before, she lives south of me. We are in for some cold weather, Brrrrr!

ctyankee 01-02-2015 06:40 PM

Everybody is south of you, Dwina! Just have fun with it. (I'm a fine one to talk! Heehee!)

Oksewnsew 01-02-2015 07:03 PM

Mine is all done, ready to box (gotta find one).. It will fly NW of me where it's COLD.. Hope you like it. ;o)

lynnie 01-02-2015 08:20 PM

Dwina, that's like saying everyone is west of me. only you and 2 others are east of me. maybe.
Mary, I did last year with a leprechaun. maybe another this year. with a pot of gold. don't know yet.
got a good idea for april, don't know if i'll use it or not. may go easy instead of driving myself crazy.

lynnie 01-02-2015 08:22 PM

that's horrible, the multicar pileup. that's horrible. Maybe just skidding into
each other and not many hurt, hopefully.

JuneBillie 01-03-2015 12:42 AM

Hopefully I will get my butt in gear soon. Been in bed after being hit with a stomach virus.

I seen about that horrible car pile up. I hope all those people will be ok.

You girls take care, and luv you all.

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-03-2015 05:47 AM

Well, I decided this year I am going to get my stash in order. I ordered 100 magazine boards and have used them all. I will place an order for 200 more and see how far that gets me. What I have done is amazing, I will finally be able to see all the fabric I have instead of going thru totes. I even located fabric I forgot I had bought. The organization is going a lot better than the dieting, lol.

klaws 01-03-2015 06:06 AM

Way to go Dwina. Keep up the good work on both!

Ladybug 1938 01-03-2015 06:10 AM

Sorry but my pal is north of me....Wait till you gals get a look at what I got myself into for this year. .BOM... HOpe to post pics later of the Christmas cactus cuttings and I got a beautiful Christmasy PC from Cuppy yesterday...

I used to travel that road every weekend and at that place there are cross winds and I guess they had squalls and then ice. My DS just called me to say that the roads here are frozen so I'll be waiting until it warms up and starts to rain before I go out today. It looks like snow and real cold temps for next week. Just as I have to start babysitting again.

ctyankee 01-03-2015 07:08 AM

Dwina, what are magazine boards? And how do you use them? I'm always on the lookout for something that will organize my stash. Every time I think I'm "organized", I go looking for something, can't find it, go shopping for it, find it later, etc. I spend more time spinning my wheels than I do producing anything! Any thoughts on organization are greatly appreciated!

JuneBillie 01-03-2015 10:45 AM

Dwina I have got to do some organizing of my sewing area for sure. I have a mess left from trying to get some things made right before Christmas. I can't stand sewing something new with a mess there. I am trying to put some scraps in some tins, etc.

Did any of you hear about the small plane that crashed? There was a little girl who survived, but her family was killed. She walked about a mile until she reached a house of this man who helped her until authorities arrived. He thought she was so brave.

I am hoping to get some sewing done today. I have my dining room table all ready to use right now. Nothing in my way on it so I might use it a bit until I get my other room cleaned up, and organized. We have rain today.

Hope you all have a good day, and great week ahead.:) Stay away from the flu. lol....

lynnie 01-03-2015 11:09 AM

raining here and expecting severe stoms later.
Most of my fabric is in the form of scraps. about 4-5 bins full. most not more than a fat 1/4. so I have a hard time arranging them.
my plan for after the mystery scrap is to cut it all into 2 1/2" strips and 6" sqs. from there I will subcut. that is my plan. Just a plan, doesn't mean i'll get it done. with stuff that small, most of you would throw it out, i'll make scrap quilts/
try to organize it down to colors from there I guess.

JuneBillie 01-03-2015 11:18 AM

Ok, I have started cutting out for my pincushion to work on today, and then will try to get it finished tonight. Tomorrow hopefully will get the needle book finished.

It's raining here too and 40 right now. There was a 20 car pileup 25 miles south of me when it was really icy out. It's going to be 53 tomorrow morning so I guess no snow tomorrow. I went by the ski hills and they were closed. They had made snow and were open for a few days but it's starting to melt with the rain. I have no fabric organization and I'll leave it at that. This is my hexagon doll blanket that I made my NH friend for her small dolls. Then I made her daughter a mug rug and they were laughing when they saw it as she met her now boyfriend on eHarmony. Now I'm starting a hexagon wallhanging.

Patchesnposies 01-03-2015 11:44 AM

Pat, What a beautiful Hexie Doll Quilt! I love it! The mug rug is adorable, too. (Too funny about eharmony!)

lynnie 01-03-2015 11:47 AM

Pat love the kitties. Aren't hexies fun and addicting. I feel they are great for scrappies.
even the smallest piece can find it's way into a hexie. beautiful job on that mug rug!!!
nice binding job too!

klaws 01-03-2015 12:08 PM

Pat you do such great work. I love both of them!!!

roserips 01-03-2015 01:19 PM

Finally took the time to read through all of the posts. Lynnie! you are such an over achiever if only I could be more like you. Everything done and mailed all ready! Well surprise I almost have my needle case finished! Lynnie I love the needle cases with a place for scissors and tape measure or other useful things. Also have figured out a fun pc to make as well. So I am on track for a change. Yeah!!!! Missed you all during December but I was so busy nice to be able to breath again.

ctyankee 01-03-2015 02:07 PM

I have a thing for hexes, too. I just keep making them ... some day they will grow up & be something! Hmmm ...

Everybody getting rain? It's been snowing here since 1:30 p.m. -- & it's still snowing!

cuppy 01-03-2015 02:14 PM

No snow , no rain .....Sunshine and warm today in Orlando 80 degrees tomorrow the same.

klaws 01-03-2015 02:17 PM

Same here in Largo, FL. Warm and sunny.

Patchesnposies 01-03-2015 02:36 PM

2-3 inches of snow overnight, all melted off this afternoon and made everything nice and muddy. lol

The kids played out in it for 2 hours this morning, such snowball fights! I told them to get out there and have as much fun as you can......it won't last long.

My littlest guy (7) cried when they came in, not because he wasn't ready to-they were cold and soaked, but because he was going to miss the (sniff, sniff) snooooooooowwwwww.

Most years we don't get any.

Sis I wanna see the Pin Cush. from Cuppy. Pat your hexie quilt and mug rug are very cute. Ctyankee the magazine boards are also known as comic book boards. They are a hard cardboard about 7x10 inches I haven't measured them. I use them for my fat quarters and small pieces of fabric.I cut the boards into fourths. Then fold the fabric around them. They look like mini bolts of fabric. Then I put them in a shallow tote about 8" deep. Mine are arranged by color then I have the totes on shelves. Since I make a lot of small things they are so much easier for me to find fabrics.I took a quick picture of my green fabric. There is a comic book board sticking up in the back of the bin. Hope this helps you. :D:sew: Guess I should have straighten the fabric for the picture.lol

Sis Here's picture of the pin cushion and a Christmas Wall hanging I made for my Quilt room...
I use the Joann's cardboards and cut them in 4 pieces and fold my yardage in half lengthwise and wrap it around the cardboard....

Ladybug 1938 01-03-2015 04:23 PM

I have some pictures of Christmas cactus and how to root them will try to put in my album....

lynnie 01-03-2015 04:24 PM

nice stash of greens. my pcs are pretty tiny, 1/4 yd or less, how do people handle those?
I tried folding them into smaller sqs. but then when i need it, it gets all messed again.
I'm open to all suggestions. except the 'thow it all out and start over again" solution.

klaws 01-03-2015 04:26 PM

Very pretty pc from cuppy. The wall hanging is really nice. Great job!

Ladybug 1938 01-03-2015 04:32 PM

I opened an album and there are 6 pictures where the clothespin is that is where you break off a piece of the plant.. The 2 glasses with the cuttings are those I had started you can see the roots on them, don't hesitate to ask me any questions... Will try to help...

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-03-2015 04:45 PM

Magazine boards a a little bigger than the comic book boards. I get mine from amazon. I have up to 8 yds on one board. I have a couple of tall plastic storage cabinets that I got from walmart. There is a utube video to watch using magazine boards to arrange your fabrics.
The hexie doll quilt is sweet. The MR, pin cushion, and tree are very nice. You all stay so busy and make so many nice things.
We are getting a snow storm tonight, then turn to rain and freeze. It's very cold out.

TOOMANYUFO'S 01-03-2015 04:48 PM

Luadybug, Where do I locate this album?

klaws 01-03-2015 05:05 PM

Dwina, the album is under Ladybugs profile.
Rosemary, what beautiful Christmas cactus! You must have a green thumb.

Your doll quilt and mug rug are so cute. Funny about the eHarmony coincidence!

I met my DH on match.com and we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary later this month. We are thankful everyday that we met and married.

JuneBillie 01-03-2015 06:29 PM

So many nice pictures tonight. Pat those are very pretty items you made. I love the hexi quilt, and the pretty mug rug.

Rosemary the pincushion and wall hanging are very pretty.

We have almost continuous downpour of rain tonight.

JuneBillie 01-03-2015 06:37 PM

Rosemary I seen your album. Very pretty plant. Is the clothes pin left on for awhile or just where you would break it off at? I assume you would break it off at one of the joint looking places, and then place in water to root?
Thanks for the pics.

jaba 01-03-2015 06:58 PM

Got my pin cushion from cuppy also, same fabric as ladybug's. Just love it makes such a pretty set. Thanks again cuppy

lynnie 01-03-2015 07:00 PM

Linda, I met my dh on a local phone chat line 9 yrs ago. we are still madly in love with each other, and never fight. we are each others soul mate. Never thought i'd say soul mate, but that's what we are.

how do I get to see the cactus???

ctyankee 01-03-2015 07:01 PM

Thanks for the clarification on those boards, Lawsonmugs & TooManyUFOs. That sounds like a really lot of work, & if you saw my stash, you'd know why I said that! I will have to give it some thought, though, because it sounds like it would work. Lawsonmugs, greens are my favorite color, so I was drooling over those fabrics!

Ladybug, that p/c is adorable; love the fabric. Also, the quilt!

SewExtremeSeams, congrats on your upcoming 10th anniversary. Nice to know that match.com works! I worked with a woman who met her husband on one of those sites -- they were from Florida -- & that must've been back in 2001-2002.

Goodnight All!
