I wanna play again but the themes don't "speak" to me -- unless I do a turtle quilt (which I would prolly keep!)

hmmmmmmm.....

This will be my last one for a while as I have some other projects I wouls like to work on. I may be back for more later though. Thanx Chele for all your work in coordinating these swaps!

You can always make a red, white and blue turtle, or a turtle at the beach or a picnic and still keep in the theme. :)

Psychomomquilter 06-24-2010 04:55 AM

laparshall 06-24-2010 12:50 PM

Chele: I dug through a boat full of fat quarters in the basement of Lolly's in Shipshewana with my three new BFF's searching for the fabric for this swap. I'm in!! (USA only please.) Star, did you take a picture of that boat?

Linda

Chele 06-24-2010 12:59 PM

Good job laparshall! Thank you for giving your all for the doll quilt swap! We do what we have to do. ;) Did you talk your BFF's into joining? I know STAR swaps, but you two need to recruit the others! Let me know if you want my secret arm-twisting technique.

Speaking of victims, anyone else interested in having a blast swapping doll quilts? Sign-up closes June 30. Quilts need to mailed by July 30.

laparshall 06-24-2010 01:02 PM

Chele: I'll nudge the other two. See what happens, if necessary, I will give your arm twisting techniques a try.

STAR 06-24-2010 03:23 PM

no I didn't get a pic of that boat I was too busy looking through all those FQ's!!

Jennifer 06-24-2010 05:50 PM

Ok sign me up. I tried to resist. But, just can't do it.

hsquiltingmom 06-25-2010 07:06 PM

For these doll quilts what kind of batting do most of you use? Do you use cotton, poly, poly/cotton blend, or a layer of flannel?

I use what ever is in the closet- pieces left over from big quilts, cotton warm and natural, polyester batting, and even flannel.

kwiltkrazy 06-25-2010 11:54 PM

I use warm and natural.

Nancy in Louisiana 06-26-2010 06:35 AM

I also use whatever I find in the scrap bin, but sometimes I have to consider the quilt design. If the intent is to hang on the wall, then I try to use the cotton batting to keep it a bit stiffer. If it has a lot of pieces and I plan to do a lot of stitching on it, then maybe the thinner bat will do. If it has a lot of applique, a puffy bat makes it look awkward and stiff in places. So I guess it's just personal preference or whatever's on hand.
