You girls ROCK!!! I too think of you as my guild. Only difference, we connect on a daily basis and not monthly or quarterly.
Love seeing the side swaps. I would love to swap with anyone just PM me. My JoAnn's has closed, but is in the process of moving 2 miles down the street. When I was there last week for their closing sale, I picked up a few pincushion patterns. They had everything 50% off! Plus I got to use the 25% off entire sale coupon from the text message. |
to those of you looking t th apple core...those are fancy pins sticking out. im glad you like it red!
so happy to see you here tracey, how are you feeling this Friday night????? this IS my guild too!!!! everyone, show us your photos, please. |
Help neeed
I need to close out the spread sheet this week end. Is there anyone that has not received their pincushions or needlecases for the month of JULY? If you have not received DO NOT post here. Please PM me. I was trying to use the thread, but was getting the side swaps confused with the regular swaps. Please continue to use the thread for the side swaps. I love following them :)

I am mostly just reading and posting here lately because with fair and other life events there is no time to do swaps for a while. Just wanted to say that Lynnie, that apple core PC is so unique. What a great mind you have. But everyone else on here has wonderful talent, too. I have seen snails, frogs, cats and all kinds of flora. Even though I belong to a wonderful Guild, I so much enjoy stopping by here each evening. Great to have you all for friends and see what your latest creations are.

Tracey, does that mean that the next swap will be posted soon, I hope so?????
|
just finished my friends pc for her birthday. she's on this board, I made her a big shell pc, I think it's post 108 or 180 (I'm dyslexic, for real). so then I went surfing for more ideas, we can do tall , short, tiny, round square pc's. I love those soda bottle cap pc's. make a few of them, it's addicting. I did a beautiful one on a crystal (glass?) candlestick
and different shapes. I hope my friend likes hers. |

o.k., i'll be waiting for the signup
quiltjoey...doyou have an idea yet???? mine are ready to go, just need my partners names. hope they both like Halloween. |
Like some others on the board who mentioned this, I too would prefer fall instead of Halloween. Hope that will work, Queen Tracey?
|
WHOO HOOO Halloween! I am looking forward to this one. If I get a name that would prefer fall that is alright too. But I hope my partners send me Halloween ones! My all time most favorite holiday!!
|
Haven't come up with anything yet. Just looking for ideas. Have some but no decision yet!

We should make sure and mention when we send in the form to Tracey whether we prefer fall or Halloween.
|
dragon, I hope I get you, you'll love mine if you love Halloween!!!!
|
I have been searching for everything fall. Even pumpkins, but in the natural. lol..
|
i can spend hours looking for designs for pincushions and such. I get carried away.
I didn't do a pumpkin though. |
Check the fiskers site lynnie. They have a really cute pumpkin one there.

This one is super cute, but a lot of work. I think it would work well in felt.... http://thepaintedquilt.blogspot.com/...-tutorial.html
|
I do the same lynnie. I can look for hours at the pin cushions, needle books, and the mug rugs too. So much fun just getting ideas, and seeing what others have made. Such creativity out there.
|
I agree, the pc is cute in felt. the pcs. are too small to have to turn down, it's best done in felt, and I would love to do it in felt or would be happy to get it in felt. I loved a bunch of ideas, but they'd be better in felt too.
(we're only supposed to use cottons). on oct's I wanted t use satin, but rethought it and used cotton. some just scream to be made in other fabs. junebillie, i'm glad i'm not the only person who browses when i'm bored to find new ideas to use as a jumping off point. Can't wait to see what everyone is doing for next month. |
Ok girls the side swap PC's are sent today in the mail. Sorry it took so long.
|
Red, don't worry about it - you did not take long - thanks for letting us know. I assume you received your side swap, it was due for delivery on the 13th.
|
thanks for the heads up, red, can't wait to see what I get, don't forget, I have no camera yet.
|
The pin cushions are due to arrive today girls. I hope you like them. Life got a little busy lately and it was cutting into my sewing time.
I got into too big of a hurry lynnie, I didn't take a picture. Sorry I can't show it on the board. I loved this idea of re-doing a wrist pincushion in bright fall colors for you. |
That is because Red is getting excited for me to be there next week! I so need the break. Between the fair, health of DD and DH, garden, quilting, and work, I have not had much sleep. Looking forward to being there.
|
I have been thinking about it all morning quiltermomma. Counting the days now.
|
you are soooo lucky to have a quilty get together. have fun.
red, got my pc's today. that finger one is so cute, wanted one for myself, but always made them and gave them away. now I have one. I love the wrist one also. where did you get the part that goes around your wrist?????? such a clever idea. I love them both, we really have a great group here, all so thoughtful and creative. can't wait to see what red and momma come up with together. Monday I go to the city to see dotty (dotcomdtcm). my son, the cutie patottie is driving me, that kid drives great in nyc traffic. I gotta pat him on the back for that one. and for driving me too. have a great weekend everyone. show some pics of what you're doing |
Hi Lynnie,
I am so very glad you like them. The little one came from Debbie Umphries from texas about three years ago as a friendship gift to me. She had bought it in a shop for it had a little tag on it. I never used it and thought maybe you would enjoy it for your collection. The wrist metal band one came from an old one I had so long I wore it out, but kept it, knowing I would re-do it someday since it was so comfortable to wear I while sewing. I honestly don't know how old it is. 25 years old, maybe more? I know it still looks perfect. They made things to last in those days. I loved the bright green and the orange yo yo flower decoration. It is cuter than my original one for sure. LOL... I hope you don't mind my repurposing it for your gift pc. Say hello to dottie for me. She is such a sweet and generous lady. |
I have two great ideas for fall/Halloween pincushions. Is it officially going to be the theme so I know if I can start them?
|
Lynnie, tell Dotty I said hi, she is a great gal, and so generous as Red said. I always enjoy being in a swap or something with her.
|
Jamin, I can't find the post, but Tracie said something about fall or Halloween -- I imagine it is something we are able to decide which one we wish to receive, and what our partner wants us to make for them.

I am a pincushion dropout! Having made dozens, I lost interest in making them. Just love getting them as gifts!
Thrilled to visit with Lynnie and receive 2 beauties. Here you will see the seashell theme, really a soft sculpture, an apple core, and Lynnie's idea for Halloween. Do you think it is too creepy? Some will, some won't, I guess. Last, some popsicle pincushions WIP Enjoy!! |
Hi ya dotty! It looks like you got a booty of pincushions there during your visit. How very fun! I hope you girls chatted and played in fabric stores till your hearts content.
|
Lynnie and Red -- I think Dotty only needs a bit of a push to get back into making pincushions! L -- she is sending you the links you asked about.
|
Suggest you open up your recs to include/permit felted wool!
BTW. I once sent a well-wrapped pincushion w some cute pins to a friend. The post office in Oklahoma called me. Apparently one pin worked itself out & a worker got pricked! Be careful!! |
hi dotty, i don't think lynnie's halloween pc is creepy. after all, Halloween isn't noted for cute. :D she made me a beautiful seashell pincushion for a swap. too. i made her a cat in felted wool. i made two others felted birds and they went over quite well. join us again, please. i'd love to see some of your felted work. i'm a beginner and would love to learn more. love, blue cat (laura lee)
