Here's another beautiful quilt I've been studying... Its one of Bonnie Hunter's. It uses mostly candy squares, but also some 4.5" x 2.5" rectangles too. So you would have to have some of your own scraps to cut for those. Look how lovely it comes together!

I love the sharing of patterns for candy too! Keep them coming...
Last night I finally got out my cut up mens' shirts and started a Smoky Mountain Stars quilt with them (also Bonnie Hunter...) Is that ever fun! It takes 304 2.5" squares, plus lots of 4.5" squares (42 darks and 153 lights). You use the candy sized squares to make the star points. This could be a cool quilt for our candies too, if you cut some 4.5 squares from your stash. You only need 42 in scrappy prints, and the other 153 could be neutral background lights, or even muslin. Imagine this in scrappy 'candy'... http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/...ain-stars.html |
I just posted my Chunky Churndash... you can see how using the alternate hourglass blocks really enhances the look of a quilt.
