letsquilt 06-24-2015 04:05 AM

They made pillows, now we have to stuff them. We have five projects planned this week.
Just thought you all might enjoy seeing these.

sewbizgirl 06-24-2015 04:18 AM

Sweet grand daughters, LetsQuilt! They did such good jobs with their pillows.

Cute picnic mug rug by Nelco. What are the ponytail holders for? Do they have a sewing usage I don't know about?

Can't wait to see my mug rug on Friday!

Elisabrat 06-24-2015 05:10 AM

Ok, just wanted those to know the mail date was the 21st but you do need to allow time for things to go in transit so please things are not LATE until the end of the month when they should all have arrived. That was why the date was picked to mail by the 21st so that everything had time to arrive at their destination. Be patient! and if its not here or something has not been mailed then write to me after you have written to your partner first and awaited a response there for a day or two. This way we are still keeping things between partners as best we can and feelings are not unnecessarily hurt. So far people have been very communicative with each other. This is wonderful :)

Daisy Dew 06-24-2015 06:04 AM

I feel just horrible writing this but I was not able to send out my exchange until yesterday. We've had a life changing event happen with my DH and since that happened I just have not been functioning very well. Thank the good Lord he is out of the woods but recovery will be long and slow they tell me. Still in hospital but will go to rehab hopefully sometime this wk or early next.
So sorry to let my exchange buddy down.
I rec'd hers sometime back but didn't open it till this past weekend and it is just the best! I hope she will post a pic as I havn't taken a pic of it.
So I guess I'm out of the exchange and was so enjoying it. It was wonderful seeing everyones creations and getting to know you all.

rwquilts 06-24-2015 06:31 AM

Letsquilt, thanks for sharing pictures of your granddaughters! How fun...next generation of quilters! :)
Daisy Dew, so sorry to hear about your husband...sending hugs and happy thoughts your way...

jaba 06-24-2015 07:07 AM

DaisyDew I think you had a pretty good reason and you let it be known as soon as you could. Certainly your husband is more important than any mug rug! Get on over to the July swap and sign up..you'll need some "me" time during his rehab time. My thoughts are with you and hope your hubby recovers quickly.

lynnie 06-24-2015 08:27 AM

Love all the pics of the new mugrugs and new quilters too. love the picnic basket!!
I see our new quilters have even used the embroidery machine too.

terriamn 06-24-2015 09:37 AM

Let's quilt very fun pictures with your granddaughters.

daisey Dew Sorry about your Dh, hope his recovery goes well.

Whigrose 06-24-2015 10:23 AM

Hi all,

Lynnie, your mug rug for KLTQuilts is adorable! But, but, where's the ketchup, and relish, and onions?? <kidd'n ya?|=""> It's cute, cute, cute.

Snownannie, your log cabin pieced bird house is precious. I love it! Great job, Jan Rutherford.

annt59, Neco did a fine job putting together pie and basket for you. And red gingham just sings picnic.

letsquilt- your gds are beautiful! And, lucky, lucky you for getting to share one of your passions together

Daisy Dew, sending lots of positive thoughts your way for both your hubby and all his people.

Best,
deb in Maine</kidd'n>

My mug rug from Chocolate Lynn arrived today. I am so doing the happy dance.

I had commented to her how I would like to hang her MR on the wall with others so would she mind adding corner triangles. Adding those was a new step for her, which she likes, and commented she wished she had known about them when she recently made a piece for special person. I told her there's lots to be learned from all the folks here. And the creativity just flows so hang around :)

She sent along a couple of other tidbits which I have privately thank her for.

Her package from me is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (according to tracking).

Best,
deb in Maine

sewbizgirl 06-24-2015 10:37 AM

Daisy Dew, of course you are not kicked out of the swap! Taking care of your husband is much more important than any swap. Hope all continues to improve with him. Take care of yourself, too.

Cute mug rug, Chocolate Lynn... I love the corners idea. Never thought of that!

Daisy Dew,

Why are you out of the exchange? You had the best reason in the world for being late and I am sure your swap partner will be totally understanding. If you want to sign up for next month I am sure Jaba and CTYankee will be happy to hear from you.

hugs

caroline

TPr9258, I got your package today. I really like the mug rug, the fireworks fabric is great. Thought I could post a picture, have the written directions when my neighbor helped me last month but now it all looks like Greek to me. If you took a pic before sending, please post. Otherwise I'll try to snag my neighbor tomorrow and try this all over again. I really like the other things, the pin, bookmark and those wine coasters. Will put it all to good use. Thank you again.

Beautiful mug rug and gifts, Dee!

I hope we get to see the one Tpr9258 made, as well! Love seeing the creations...

ctyankee 06-24-2015 02:10 PM

I didn't think I was absent, but there's a lot I've missed.

First of all, I didn't know about Daisy Dew's hubby. I went back several pages & still couldn't find anything. So I apologize for not addressing that. Daisy, I'm sorry about your hubby & I'm glad to hear he's on the road to recovery. If you were late because of that, believe me, it's not a problem. You are not out of the swap. If you wish to continue, just please PM me. If you think you'd like to join in the July mug rug swap, we'll be happy to have you. I will PM you about this.

And I see I also missed a LOT of mug rugs -- all beautiful, by the way!

snownannie -- very cute birdhouse mug rug & wallet & thread catcher from Jan R, who always does lovely work.

annt -- that picnic mug rug is adorable, plus other goodies. Love postcards myself!

Letsquilt -- thanks for sharing photos of the granddaughters & their pillows! It's wonderful to share your love of sewing with the next generation. Someday I hope to do that -- when my daughters get married & have children (& I hope I'm not too old to enjoy them).

dfelker -- love that patriotic mug rug, & the backing is super adorable!

dee1245 -- a lovely mug rug from Daisy Dew & nice goodies, too.

I hope I didn't leave anybody out, but the chances are pretty good I did, since I had a lot of catching up to do!

Now, is it my imagination, or what? A couple of people mentioned extras but didn't post any photos of extras, only the mug rugs. Speaking for myself (&, hopefully, a lot of other people), I like to see the extras. Maybe I'm nosey. Or maybe I just like to be inspired by what other people do. If I see something I like, I may just pine over it, or I may try to make one, too! Anybody with me on this one? And I do think the person making the extras would like some credit for their efforts, too. That goes for anything someone has purchased for their partner, too. It gives me ideas. Yeah, maybe I am nosey, after all!

Good job, everybody. Now I will go back & see if I missed anyone. Let me know if I did!

ctyankee 06-24-2015 02:19 PM

Aha! I knew I missed something!

Whigrose, that's a nice mug rug from Chocolate Lynn. I see you asked her to put triangles on the back. Now that puzzles me. I've been quilting for 30+ years but have no idea what the triangles are for! Please enlighten me. (See, always something to learn!)

The little pony tail thingies are the right size to put on bobbins.

Whigrose 06-24-2015 04:16 PM

Ctyankee, The folded half square triangles are to place a dowel, or in this case a skewer, to hang them from- much like a sleeve and rod but in mini. Need a pic?

Anxiously waiting still for both my mug rugs . I'm like a little kid at Christmas waiting to open packages. Lol. I. Ready for July already . I'm in !

Nan62 06-24-2015 07:30 PM

Jan Rutheford that mug rug is adorable and all the little extra hand made goodies too !

lynnie 06-24-2015 07:31 PM

Lynnie, your mug rug for KLTQuilts is adorable! But, but, where's the ketchup, and relish, and onions?? It's cute, cute, cute.

I have a hotdog similar on my kitchen wall with all the toppings, along with a hamburger and a pizza, on the opposing wall is a stuffed bottle of ketchup dripping ketchup down the wall.

Love the new mug rugs. they seem to get cuter as we go along. such nice work everyone.

Deb, and Aunt 59 such beauitufl mugrugs. Dee, such nice points too!! excellent little works of art, everyone.

JuneBillie 06-24-2015 08:07 PM

I am with lynnie that there are so many works of art. My memory is not good so I can't put down all the names, but they all are so pretty.

I did the triangles on a few mini quilts. They are really handy that way. I used a few of the pony tail holders the other day to keep the thread in tact on some of my bobbins. Great ideas we pick up here on this board. :)

I was invited to join here by a sweet friend, but I have been kind of slow lately with the few things I have to do so I will wait a bit longer. Everyone is having so much fun. :)

sewbizgirl 06-24-2015 09:49 PM

I agree, ctyankee, that if extra treats were sent they ought to be shown in the photo. Especially the handmade goodies! Why not? We all want to see....

ctyankee 06-25-2015 02:43 AM

sewbizgirl -- absolutely!

Whigrose -- yes, pics! I have to actually see how those triangles work! And they 're in all 4 corners, too. Thanks. :)

Dee 1245, your mug rug to Daisy Dew is awesome. I love those diamonds on point. Your use of fabric design was great, too.

Lynnie, I think if I was in your kitchen, I would have an eating disorder<giggle><giggle>. <giggle> You must have a fun kitchen :)

ctyankee- the triangles are awesome and only take a nano-second to add. Just take a square of fabric, fold it in half diagonally then sew in when adding on your binding. As Elisabrat says "tada"! Then you are able to hang your mug rugs, minis, small wall hangings in any direction using Command hangers without adding nail or tack holes to your wall.

Omee5 has received her package from me but hasn't posted a picture. I made her the mug rug and coordinating coaster, plus included other sewing related goodies.</giggle>

Chocolate Lynn's package is at her home town PO as of this morning. She should receive it today. Hopefully she'll post a pic for us.

The top photo shows (barely) the skewer in place for hanging. Photo two and three are the mug rug I made for Omee5; the first one shows the real colors.

Best,
deb in Maine</giggle>

sewbizgirl 06-25-2015 04:39 AM

Love that mug rug, Whigrose! Churn Dash is one of my favorite blocks. And the coaster is great... Did you wrap fabric around clothesline to make it?

Whigrose 06-25-2015 05:36 AM

2 Attachment(s)
sewbizgirl, thanks for the compliment. I really liked how that mug rug turned out-almost wanted to keep it for my wall. And, btw, the coaster really is round. It just looks funky in the photo.

I love making coiled items. And I love orange. This bowl started out for the kitchen with its colors of citrus and greens of kiwis and veggies, but somehow last evening my current sock knitting project ended up in it. Aw, darn ;)

There are a couple of ways to do the wrapping - I prefer to cut my fabrics on the bias because there is less fraying. Another thing is do is push back the wrapping on the cotton line a couple of inches and snip out the center filler. Doing this step allows for a neater ending (less bulk). Give it a try. It's fun!

Any questions, ask away. I'll try to help.

Best,
deb in Maine

Ok, my neighbor is helping me again. Here is the mug rug from Teri Lynn.

regm 06-25-2015 07:53 AM

The thing I really like about Teri"s mug rug is the way the firecracker fabric is used. Looks like what you see in the sky on the fourth of July. And I'm patting my self on the back for posting the pic. Wrote out explicit directions for next time.
