I'll let you know. I started working on some but want to make sure I can finish them and they fit the requirements! lol would probably help if i looked at the sign up part instead of stalking this thread ;)
Would something like this be ok? They should end up 9.5 x 6.5 after trimed.

I have 4 sets finished, but I am holding off sending them in, just in case I find time to do more. LOL. I have some fairy picture blocks and I have an idea how to turn them into real blocks, but I just have a new job and I am swamped.

Thanks for all the "Manly" tips. I wiill put a reminder in my package Rachel. Actually, the person I'm making this for actually looks like a gnome...I kid you not. He's pretty darn cute....LOL. And, if I only get gossimer fairies, then that's OK too.

tropit 03-31-2012 03:23 PM

OH! And, he's also an excellent mushroom hunter, so shrooms are ok too. :D

hehe I plan on doing a bunch of gnomes for this one and I am sure others we haven't seen yet will too. When you make your quilt and deliver it, you'll have to get pics of him with it!! :) :)

Cheers!

LOL, we have a friend like that, he looks like a gnome. At Christmas time he plays Santa Claus. But he never takes his hat off in front of the kids because he has no hair on top! But he has this long white beard. I told him he needs to get a green outfit and be a leprechaun. hey that gives me an idea, maybe add a leprechaun to my collection of Gnomes and tress and Mushroom houses. Pictures tomorrow of a few. I was going to mail and then started "playing with a few more" this is so addicting!

MadeinMaine 04-03-2012 03:36 PM

What a FUN addiction! I'm feeling the same way - "just a few more". . .
: )

athenagwis 04-03-2012 03:55 PM

Ok, I'm offically up to 2 sets. I only have 3 of the second set done but I figured if I did 3 already what's 3 more ;). I still need to add a boarder to them to make up the right size for the swap

Nancy in Louisiana 04-05-2012 06:16 AM

These came out great!! Haha I thought you meant more of a log cabin block, but you meant an actual log cabin!! So cool. Here are the wonky log cabin blocks I had in mind. These are 9.5x9.5.

Cheers!
Rachel

babyfireo4 04-05-2012 11:12 AM

I love your wonky log cabin! That mushroom fabric is really neat :)

MadeinMaine 04-07-2012 10:39 AM

Great blocks by babyfire and Rachel = we are so lucky!!

wanda lou 04-07-2012 09:13 PM

I love them, I hope I get one.

ssnare 04-08-2012 05:24 AM

I love all the pictures so far.

ssnare 04-11-2012 08:37 AM

I made a plastic template for a baby dragon hatching from an egg. It sure is cute. I hope I have time to make some baby dragons. I will post a picture when I get the first one made. Every magical forest needs a dragon, right?

babyfireo4 04-12-2012 11:36 AM

That is a great idea!!! I love dragons :)

marytoddliz 04-12-2012 12:35 PM

I love dragons! I am reading the Chris D'Lacey series right now. I got them at a yard sale for my grandson but thought I should read them first... you know to make sure they are ok...LOL I can't put them down.

My blocks took a stall, I got an order for two more memory quilts and had to finish up wedding dress and then a week at my son's...

So back on track to make more magical forest blocks, pictures when I get them pressed and ready to mail.

athenagwis 04-17-2012 02:03 AM

Hi everyone!!

I just wanted to post a quick reminder about this swap. I must have all blocks in my hands by June 1. That means you should probably think about mailing mid-May. There is still a month before we reach that point, so plenty of time to sew and mail, but I like to give a heads up. I have received 3 sets so far. I will be going on vacation in June and I want to have these swapped prior to me leaving, so this deadline has to be steadfast. I cannot wait to see everything you guys are working on!!

If you need my mailing address, please send me a PM and I would be happy to provide it. be sure to re-read the mailing instructions from the first page before sending.

Thanks everyone!!
Rachel

Thanks for being a great hostess, Rachel!

Hi Rachel,

OK...I'm going very traditional with this one and making the classic "Pine Tree" block, http://www.mccallsquilting.com/patte....html?idx=8261 , in a variety of colors, with some vintage fabrics. I've been looking for a good mushroom block pattern, but most of them look kinda wonky. I'll have them done in time and send them over as soon as I'm finished. What's everyone else doing?

That sounds perfect!! I am loving all the magical blocks, but we definitely need some more trees as well. :) :) Can't wait to see your version!

I am so excited. Here are my dragons in progress. After I appliqued them, I drew on them with a pencil, then I used a permanent pen. I am afraid to sew over the permanent marker, because I might mess them up. Do you like my dragons? I do.

Muse&Sew 04-20-2012 07:33 AM

Really fun dragons. Love them.

tropit 04-21-2012 09:28 AM

I've changed my direction...sorry...no more tradtitional pine tree blocks. They turned out to be huge (12.5" blocks) and I just didn't have enough fabric to do 4 sets of 6. Instead, I did one set of simple trees and will think up some more things. I may do a bit of applique on my trees.

Those dragons are adorable!

I love the dragons, my favorite is the purple, and the one bustin' out of the egg! They are so cute.

My blocks are just a variety. I will have them finished before the 29th of April. I think I already have two sets done, where did I put that darn camera, I will send you all a peek of some of my creations!
