It's two (or three) quilts in one.
Easy to swap out and change the look of the quilt, thanks to sewable velcro.

That is remarkable! I love it and I'll bet your partner is over the moon.

JenniePenny, Your little doll quilt creation is AWESOME! (The best idea, removable panels...hmm...sounds like a great gift to make for a grandchild. Changeable art. Did I share I'm going to be a new grandma in October.!!! My first grandbaby.)

Love the little Red, Black and White quilt also. It's so graphic and bold. I love the precise piecing. Beautiful!

Donna so glad you are having fun. This swap is so addictive.

Swap out little quilts. How great...now I know what I'm doing for Christmas gifts.
I belong to the BOM on site which are Calandar Blocks...Maybe instead of a full size quilt I'll do that with the sqs....Thanks for the idea.

Judith1005 03-17-2012 05:47 AM

Is it too late to get involved with this? I don't remember seeing this thread.

Great interchangeable quilt. I've seen some that use buttons on the base and buttonholes on the center removable quilt. This would make a fun swap too.

kwiltkrazy 03-17-2012 01:37 PM

Love the interchangable quilt. Great job.

Lv2sew2011 03-17-2012 04:14 PM

Well, just finished up my partners DQ for March and it will be on it's way Monday to it's new home.

Donna
PS all the DQ this far are just lovely....

Dragonfly Nana 03-18-2012 04:26 AM

I adore that interchangeable quilt!
My dining room table is 60" x 60" which is a challenge to find mats or runners to fit well. (DH hates when I put them on an angle) This would be a great way to have one fits and still be able to change it up for the season!
Now why didn't I think of it?

Check out BOM 2012 in the Blocks of the Week/Month thread, since you're making the blocks for yourself you can do them at your own rate, there are separate threads for the block pattern and pictures for each month so far, a new pattern is posted on the first of each month - once you get started, don't forget to post your pictures as you complete the blocks - have fun, it's going to be an awesome set of blocks when it's finished

AngieS 03-18-2012 05:53 AM

Leslie-That turned out so pretty!! I do recognize that fabric in the middle of the blocks. Thanks for letting me see it. ;) Love love love it!!! You did a great job!!

Hugs,
Angie

Wow, been away from the board for a few days. Muv, Leslie, Nancy, JenGaile what great DQs you've made. JenGaile, I love the idea of the interchangeable block. I've got to put this on my list.

Lynnie25 03-18-2012 12:09 PM

Great interchangable quilt, haven't seen one done like that before. I agree it would be a great idea for a future swap theme

Judith1005 03-18-2012 05:02 PM

Thank you very much. I will check it all out!!:)

Went shopping today with the April swap in mind. Darn it! What was I thinking. I came away with some gorgeous prints in coral and brown. I guess brown isn't a spring time color is it? Foo.

kwiltkrazy 03-18-2012 08:45 PM

Krystyna, trees are brown.
Still working on your quilt, life keeps getting in the way.

nancia 03-18-2012 10:02 PM

nice muddy soil is brown also!, hmmmm, so is my dog! especially after she plays in the wet, muddy, brown yard. lol! love spring!!

Lynnie25 03-19-2012 12:09 PM

Quiltingkrazy, your DQ is finished and ready for posting but I am holding it back until tomorrow (Wednesday) as it is going to hang in a little display where our Premier will be visiting :) It will be in the post for sure on Thursday. Had a lot of fun doing this DQ.

In New England the prime color of spring is brown. Up here spring is also known as mud season. Typically we do not see green until late April early May - So brown is a spring color!!!

Today I received my beautiful quilt from Judith! And it is a beauty! "Paducah Dogwood" all in colors of Spring! The centers of the blossoms are beaded-all the fabrics are gorgeous. Thank you so much!
Also Judith sent me......a turtle needle-case!! I've admired them every time I seen one posted from Judith! It has thread, scissors, and a packet of needles included with a baby pin-cushion turtle. Lots of hand work with metallic threads! I am over the moon. And here is a fun picture of my youngest grand, Kip, whom I found carefully poking pins in and out of the recent pin cushion I received from SewExtreme-isn't he cute and yes, I watched him carefully!!
I have received a whole year of special quilts from special friends-thanks to all! Nancy.

I'm so glad you like it, I couldn't wait for you to get it. I really enjoyed making it just for you :)

urgodschild2 03-19-2012 02:29 PM

Hi everyone. I have arrived in Melbourne, Australia safely. I have already taken the tram out to one of the shops that Lynnnie told me about. I got there and I could see signs up......closed. I thought OH Dear. The windows was covered too so I started worrying that maybe it went out of business. When I got there none of that was what I had thought. It was closed for the day, except for classes because the owner was sick. But someone inside saw me standing there and opened the door. I told her where I was from and she asked the proprietors Hubby if I could come in and look. He said YES. So he even let me buy some material. I got the most beautiful aborigini (spelling) material and some feed sack prints. I will probably return there sometime during my Visit. He also gave me a list of other places to check out that were closer to where I live. Gotta love the Australians....they are so nice.
I showed my GD the doll quilts that I am making for March and April. The one for April has appliques on it and my 7 yr old GD wants to help me put them on. I kinda of winced inside thinking how well could a 7 year old do but I am going to let her try one. So if Lynnie and I are matched for April, I am sure she will be delighted to get the doll quilt not only done by me but my darling GD. She is my only GD and she is my artsy crafty girl. She loves the I spy quilt that I made for them and promptly asks me is she can make a small I spy quilt. Gotta love that enthusiasm.

urgodschild2 03-19-2012 02:35 PM

I am sorry but did I miss a mud quilt????? I know that Vermont, NH and maybe Maine have mud season in the spring. I think there is some kind of sport that they do called mudding and they ride through it or something like that.

Barb

jillnjo 03-19-2012 02:37 PM

Brenda; your quilt is so pretty and so perfect for you! The colors go well together, you received such a thoughtful quilt from Donna and the matching mugrug is great, too. The quilts are full of creativity this month.

Krystyna 03-19-2012 02:51 PM

What a fabulous quilt you received, Brenda. Lucky you!
Barb, so glad you arrived safely and that you're already having a marvelous time.
I do hope you and Lynnie get to meet. What fun that would be!
No mud quilts, but ... hmmmm. Spring = mud= btown!
Now anyone who loathes coral, speak up now before April partners are selected. Sign up in a couple of days!

Lookie what the mail lady brought me today! It's from Moedeenie, and according to the lovely card she sent, it's her first doll quilt! NO WAY! This little quilt is much too AWESOME to be a "first"! I'm very, very impressed, and absolutely LOVE the quilt! The colors are gorgeous, and they even match my sewing room. Check out the "Eat Sleep Quilt" pin she used as an embellishment! How adorable (and true! LOL!) is that? :D She quilted it with fancy stitches, and even the back side is gorgeous. The workmanship is PERFECT! And what a pretty label! (Since this is a public forum, I edited out her last name in the picture.) :)

She also sent some a magnetic daisy notepad, a piece of green batik that I'm drooling over :D, and a nifty packet of tissues.

Thanks so much, Moedeenie! I'm tickled pink with everything! I'm one very lucky swapper to have gotten you as a partner!

oowee 03-19-2012 03:35 PM

Oh what lovely quilts have come in today! N, love the Paducah spring you received. The flowers add just an extra touch don't they. My grands like to poke pincushions too! Cute fella.
Brenda great color coordination in the floral quilt. That blue "eyelash" fabric has long been a fav of mine.
moonrise, lovely fabric in a lovely quilt.
You are some lucky ladies! Still working on mine.

Judith1005 03-19-2012 05:21 PM
