Connecting Threads allows you to order FQ's of most of their fabrics. Pretty sure I've ordered FQ bundles in specific colors from Thousands of Bolts as well.

I went to Connecting Threads, clicked on "sale". This this their Note: [h=1]We're closing out these fabrics so we can bring you new and exciting prints to love. We are adding new fabrics to this page regularly so check back often to get the best deals. Minimum purchase of 1 half yard required on select fabrics.[/h]Keep looking gals! Its like an Easter egg hunt!

In case anyone missed it, CT has precuts on their sale page too, including several FQ assortments. They're sold by the group, but sometimes they have really good deals. It's a good idea to check back often. :)

I changed my sets of squares slightly, switching out some fabrics for different ones. There were a few that, after studying them more, didn't seem to be good candidates for the swap. Hopefully y'all will be happy with my baggies, regardless of whether you prefer "safe" or "edgy" or somewhere in between. (My "edgy" ones are pretty tame, but I don't think they'd be considered "boring". At least I hope not. :) ) There are a few extra squares in each bag, too, just in case, and a little surprise.

It's been interesting discussing what each person considers to be a neutral, and what our individual tastes are. I'm very curious now to see what arrives in my mailbox! Are we there yet? ha ha :D

sunrise450 03-04-2018 05:25 AM

I went shopping yesterday and bought edgy and neutral. Some neutral are from my stash also.

Last month I loved getting the buttons, it was such a surprise.

My question...........Where do you find things like this where you can afford to buy a bunch? I hope I am not being inappropriate I just think t was such a sweet thing to do.

Red, I have been thinking about the Secret Pal swap also. It sounds like such a fun swap!

I got my buttons off e-Bay and Amazon. If you buy them from sellers in China/Taiwan/Hong Kong, they're usually around $2 (shipped) for a bag of 50-100 buttons. They take 4-6 weeks to arrive, though. So far all the ones I've ordered have arrived in good condition. It just took forever for them to get here. :)

You can find the same buttons being sold by U.S. sellers on e-Bay and Amazon, but they usually cost quite a bit more. But the shipping is a lot faster. :)

Here's where I bought the cat buttons (no affiliation).

What do you all do with your buttons? Sew them on quilts as embellishments? Just curious....

cute idea!

I use two that match for eyes on bean bag frogs. I fill them with plastic pellets, so they are washable. My son made a plywood 'cornhole' (bean bag toss) game set. The stands with the holes are quite far apart for official rules (which he uses), so they are not very easy for the approximately five-year-old crowd. A big box 3 feet away with a frog to hop in is better for them. The frogs were a hit as you can make them sit and lay in funny poses, so I made about 100 for a craft sale. They sold easily because granddaughters tossing them and laughing with them looked so happy and cute made good salespersons.

Can anyone share with me what colors have already been swapped? Just so I can be thinking of what might still be coming.
thanks....

sunrise450 03-04-2018 08:33 AM

moonrise, I went with ebay and as usual overdid it and bought a bunch. The buttons are so cute! I couldn't help myself. Thank you so much for the information.

You're welcome. :) It's easy to do, as cute and as cheap as they are!

redstilettos 03-04-2018 10:21 AM

We have not done Aqua yet :)

redstilettos 03-04-2018 10:24 AM

sunrise: it IS a fun swap. The people are very kind and quite generous there. Pop on over and take a peek ;)

The buttons were, and Are adorable. I LOVED the elephants, as they are my mostest favorite non-domesticated animal. I actually have a few statues and pictures in my sewing room of them. Love love those buttons that came in. I wanted them all! :D

pinkflowers 03-04-2018 11:38 AM

OMG- Stop! Telling me all the places I can can shop for fabric online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have successfully kept to my yearly goal of no new fabric purchases. Yep! I haven't needed any new fabric yet, and haven't purchases any. I already have SO MUCH, and the plan is too use what I have first, and start a new project next year that I can purchase fabric for.

I am so tempted to check out the sites you all have listed. Maybe I will, just a peek! :D Wish me luck!!

That's what I was thinking!

The frog beanbags sound cute, Givio!

moonrise 03-04-2018 11:51 AM

I guess I dreamed we'd done aqua already. Might be because I've already got my fabric set aside in a special box for it. LOL!

Does this seem to be in the right direction for neutrals?

redstilettos 03-04-2018 03:59 PM

Stafar, I would think so! Love the two on the right!

sewbizgirl 03-04-2018 04:43 PM

They look nice to me, Stafar.

Stafar 03-04-2018 05:31 PM

Thanks for the feedback-now to find some more!!

sunrise450 03-05-2018 07:29 AM

They look nice to me too Stafar. love the one on the bottom. The one with all the swirls.
I started slicing and dicing last night and found out that I could get 12- 5" charms from a FQ. The only problem is that I like the charms I send and with just buying a FQ, I don't get one of each for myself.

hav4boys 03-05-2018 09:37 AM

I love "edgy" neutral. Just me.

I am in for 12 but going to shop for the 15 fabrics so everyone does not get riled by my choices. I am not a fan of cream on cream or white on white. I promise to do my best.

Faintly Artistic 03-05-2018 09:50 AM

Well, I'm bummed. I won't be able to participate this month. Our closing date has been pushed to the 15th and all my fabric is packed. Hopefully we will get settled quickly and I look forward to April's color!

redstilettos 03-05-2018 09:55 AM

You don't have to swap out all 12 if you don't want to.....you can do less and still keep what you are cutting for yourself, too :0)

Faintly, good luck on the closing! I know it can be stressful, but you will be SO happy when it's done. We look forward to having you in the next one :)

hav4boys 03-06-2018 08:35 AM

I went and got all my neutrals last night. Tonight I will cut and package. I tried really hard to be neutral neutral. Wait and see what you are getting.

Jane Quilter 03-06-2018 08:44 AM

I think i have found enough neutrals! I'm in for 12.

sewbizgirl 03-06-2018 12:47 PM

I'll send 10 bags.

jaba 03-06-2018 01:40 PM

I'm in again but mine will definitely be neutrals as stated by Red. I had already cut these in Wyoming and brought them to Florida with me.

redstilettos 03-08-2018 04:08 AM

Moonrise your package arrived in my mailbox safely 😄

Yay! Thanks for letting me know. :)

trish b 03-08-2018 12:55 PM

I am in for 12 this time. I love all the neutrals shown so far. I am willing to use the oddest colors in my quilting, they let everything "POP".

Crispy_Frog 03-08-2018 05:03 PM

We haven't done aqua...more have we done Brown or black. What else could there be?

hav4boys 03-08-2018 05:05 PM

I am looking forward to rainbow. Multicolored fabrics! It will be my favorite.

Crispy_Frog 03-08-2018 06:18 PM

I'm a little slow here in responding. I bought my buttons on EBay for last month's swap. Although last month's purchase was a U.S. seller-I've purchased several things from China and other than the long ship times, I've been satisfied. The best part is that shipping is usually free!

Thanks for posting the great sale website. My favorite online secret is www.happycrafters.net They have a nominal sale section. The best thing they offer is quilting services. Pick out the quilt design for $20 to $55...any size quilt. They will bind an entire quilt for $16! Add batting and backing; with postage to and from Osawatomee Kansas, it has always been worth it for me.

sewbizgirl 03-08-2018 06:59 PM

That's great to know about the quilting service, Crispy_Frog. So inexpensive!

Red, can you post a list of all the swappers who have signed up so far? I want to 'up' my bag count from 10 to 12 but I don't want to send more than we have swappers for. Thanks, much appreciated.

sunrise450 03-09-2018 06:01 AM

I have all my neutrals cut and should have them packaged and ready to send out today or tomorrow.

Have4boys, rainbow sounds like a spring mix to me. Sounds good to me.

Crispy frog, Thanks again for the button information. I ordered a bunch from Japan and EBay. Like you, I think they will make great little gifts.
Thanks also for your recommendation for www.happycrafters.net. I have them in my favorites but have been hesitating in trying them.
When sending a quilt to be quilted, how do you package it?

Crispy_Frog 03-09-2018 08:13 AM

Sunrise450- I just mash it down into a small size in a plastic bag and put it in the smallest envelope or box it will fit in. I include my name address and phone number inside the box and include my specifications on the design, batting, binding and backing, everything the website asks for. Several times I told her that backing and binding fabrics were her choice and have been absolutely thrilled at what she's come up with. She runs a brick and mortar quilt store, so she has fabric choices. It's always been fun getting them back. Sometimes its been a tone on tone backing, batik, or just muslin for a wall hanging.

I usually call in advance to start the conversation and verify the instructions. She will compress the quilt and send it back in the smallest box she can fit it in.

When I went to Hamilton Missouri to see MSQC, I visited Happy Crafters. They are exactly one hour south. It's a tiny store, but the people are very friendly.
