Welcome newbie jillzes! I looked and think we have several newbies again this month--twinkie, migrubbs, tangled threads, goldsberry921, TammyB, rwquilts, LittleRoO, pnptrapp, and anglars. Hope I didn't miss anyone! This is the only swap I actively participate in, but it's the best! Glad you are all here to have some fun.

Thank you for the welcome! I've participated in other swaps on the board, but I'm definately a newbie to this swap! I've made lots of mini quilts so thought this would be fun! I look forward to getting to know more members here!

:D :D :D

Tammy! Not sure if anyone answered your question. In case no one did, YES, you can be in this swap. Only if you want to have fun though. Newbies are always welcomed and so is everyone else. Join the fun! :-D

Rhonda 04-28-2011 05:51 PM

To those who are newbies or a bit more than that. Don't feel you can't measure up. We all started at the beginning at one time so we all have been on a journey. Each journey is differant for each quilter! We love to see what everyone comes up with. Your skill level doesn't matter. I have been quilting for 30 years but I learn something new from each and every quilt. I love the idea that the quilt I receive was in my partners hands and I am now holding it too! I love that connection. We are not going to pick the mistakes out and hold them up to the light. We all know where our mistakes are! But how does anyone know you didn't mean to do that? LOL

So if you want to have fun and share a connection with a special partner then join in and don't worry about your skills. Just have fun and enjoy the fellowship of quilting!!

TammyB 04-28-2011 10:28 PM

Thank you, Linda. I'm so looking forward to it. So excited!

rwquilts 04-29-2011 06:53 AM

I have taken some time to view past DQ's, and was really excited by all the fun and colorful quilts I saw! You guys are amazing! Wow! It makes me even more excited to be part of the swap this month! Can't wait to get my swap partner and get started!

migrubbs 04-29-2011 05:03 PM

Rhonda,

thanks for those encouraging words. I am one of the newbie's and was wondering how to cover up my mistakes.
Mine is done. I finished one of my mother's and had to add
different material and etc. She was 97 when she passed 2 yrs. ago. She always wanted everything perfect and has passed that on to me.

I hope my partner will understand My mother called this pattern a cross nine patch. She made it up.

No matter what your skill level everyone has something to offer because we each see things in our own unique perspective. And I so enjoy that!!

I am looking forward to seeing yours and everyones doll quilt for May!!

oksewglad 04-29-2011 05:19 PM

We all make mistakes. Sometimes you just let them go! I have learned that sometimes when I try to "fix" a mistake I only make it worse and it's better not to mess with it.

rwquilts 04-30-2011 06:20 AM

I'm excited for this swap! I have designed something in my EQ and have begun to paper piece, one of my favorite things to do!

SewExtremeSeams 04-30-2011 08:51 AM

Chele, I sent you a PM. Due to lots going on here and priorities I need to drop out for May. I know I will miss being a part of this doll quilt swap. Hope to be back for June's swap. Maybe even have one done near the begining of June.

Have fun everyone! :-D

I'd like to play, please.

As well as receiving (and sending) a Dolls Quilt to my partner every month, I enjoy learning where my partner is from in this big wide world. I look up their state on the map, read up on what goes on in their part of the world and see what quilt shops are in their area. Each month a whole new part of this world is opening up to me - thanks to the Quilting Board and the internet.

I already have an idea of what I would like to do (that is if my partner likes yellow!) So maybe I will be able to get everything started next weekend when I get back from Vacation! Now to get off of here to finish packing! Leaving out Monday morning bright and early. So if my parner doesn't hear from me I won't be back until late Sat.. will catch up on Sun or Mon.

Nice turn out! We have 70 people in this swap... I'm anxious to see all the adorable quilts come through. It's always so fun to see how creative everyone is. I've seen some great stuff come through these little quilts. They're so inspiring! I love to try new things on these little guys since that's what they're really all about. Have fun everyone!

I agree! Labels are important! They can also be so fun to make!

I have cleared up my calendar and finished other projects so I can devote some good time to making the doll quilts! I've chatted with my partners and think I've lucked out...they're both terrific!!!

anglars 05-04-2011 08:39 AM

rwquilts 05-05-2011 02:23 PM

I have been working this week on my DQ's. I quilted both today and am hand stitching the binding to the back of one and still have to bind and label the other and I'll be ready to mail to my swap partners! Can I keep them? LOL!

That's why you make a duplicate!! I'm at the same stage with my one DQ. I hope Ms Grace will like it.
