October Mugrug
Anything you want.for October using fall colrs.
Please make sure to read through the posting before singing up.
Welcome to the October 2020 mugrug swap. Any design using fall colors.
Get those creative minds to thinking and make a beautiful Mug Rug for your Partner.

Signup begins; now Now.

Signup closes 10- 5 - 2020 at midnight

Partners will be assigned no later than: 10- 6- 2020

Mail by dates: International 10-10-2020/ all others 10-20- 2020 these dates are firm.

What is a mug rug? A mug rug is an item you use to place a cup of coffee, tea or soda on, along with a small snack plate/napkin beside it. It’s approximately 9”x8” or larger so both items will fit. Please do not make it smaller than 9”x8” as that is quite small for both items as it is!

1. You will be assigned a partner. This is not a secret pal swap. Each partner will contact the other partner for addresses. Will you make something abstract, realistic or whimsical? Will you appliqué or paper-piece or just go with regular piecing?

2. It must be made with 100% quilter’s cotton, with a nice cotton batting in between to protect furniture from possible damage due to heat/cold. Use a binding method you are comfortable with, or practice & learn a new binding technique! Also, the mug rug must be quilted. Remember, this is a gift you are making for someone. Be proud of your work & do your best. And be kind about what you receive. If you have any issues, please work it out with your partner first, before contacting me; communication is key. This board is for all of us to make friends & have fun.

3. You must send your name, address and phone number for emergency’s only to me, Boop56 by March 3rd.Don’t forget to send me notice (with tracking number) that you have sent to your partner. Any delays must be shared with me prior to this date. I want everyone to receive a partner’s trade. We should not have to request angels. Again, communication is important. You can be forgiven if something comes up & you notify your partner & me prior to the end of your swap mail date requirement. But if you don’t communicate & don’t send out a mug rug to your partner, you will be locked out of swapping with this group and negative feedback will insure other swap groups know you didn't send.

4. You are free to include little gifts with your mug rug, handmade or store-bought; it’s up to you. But you are only obligated to send a mug rug. Nothing else is required in this swap.

5. Any questions? Contact me immediately and I will help get you started.

6. Please take a photo before you ship your package to your partner, just in case she cannot post a photo. We all want to see photos! But don’t post it until you know your partner has received your package & that she is unable to post a photo.

7.Also, please let me know if you can mail internationally! This is important, as we have quite a few international swappers who want to join us, & I don’t want anybody to be left out. So if you can ship internationally — even just one time — that would make it more fun for our overseas & Canadian swappers!
Thank you!! Have fun!
! Remember you are required by the board to send things you sign up for, or risk not having the ability to swap again in other swaps. Again, per board rules, anything about your partner or the item they swap to you that does not please you is not to be posted on the board but sent in a PM to me or to your partner to sort out. It’s polite and it’s the right thing to do.

Many trials and errors with meds. Kind of just hanging in limbo now. But I want to reopen my sewing room. I will host for this month. I will be juggling sewing between 4 doctors, home health care nurse. I am not suppose to stress or get overly tired. How do you stress by sewing? LOL

granky 09-30-2020 10:55 AM

Oh Boop....it's good to see you back...and of course I'm in. Whatever you do, don't stress....just take it easy, one step at a time.

Mailed to mpepperm37 yesterday!

mmonohon 10-24-2020 10:02 AM

I sent one to Nonnie4 and received hers. The mug rug she made is gorgeous. However, I am notable to upload a pic (I am hoping she can). She did an amazing job!

Nonnie4 10-25-2020 10:26 AM

Photo failed

Mmonohan I am so happy that you received it. I was worried and I am glad you liked it. I am unable to post a picture either. Why do they have to make it so difficult? I tried from my iPad, phone and computer with no luck. Has something changed again? I am using the reply at the beginning of the thread and the attachment paper clip.

The other things that might prevent you from being able to post would be that the file size is too large (needs to be smaller than 2MB) and/or you didn't scroll over to the far right (after choosing your image) and click on "Upload."

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.

Trying smaller picture

I reduced the size of the picture and we'll hope this works! Thanks for the tip about pics being under 2MB. This is what I sent to mmonohan. Glad she liked it.

Beautiful, Nonnie! I love the pop of blue to set of the lovely fall colors.

What a cute little turkey bird from mmonohan! I love him and he has already taken post on my side table. I just purchased a "gently used" Bernina with embroidery! Can't wait to figure it out so that I can make such cute things. Also love the flying geese from entangled. I just got a ruler for those in a subscription box so it's on my to learn list. Great swap everyone!

Thank you so very much to mpepperm37 for lifting my spirits today with the arrival of the mug rug she made! My computer just died on me less than 2 hours ago and fun mail really helps.

I tried attaching the photo. We'll see if that works.

entangled 11-03-2020 01:46 PM

It worked! The embroidery is so beautiful and she even sent a bonus mini. Thanks so much, M.

Nonnie4 11-04-2020 05:38 AM

You all are making me really excited to learn how to use the embroidery module on my new (but used) machine!!! I hope it is easier than it looks!

mpepperm37 11-04-2020 09:53 AM

How exciting! It is really fun and I love the look. I hope you all don’t mind it. :) What machine do you have?

Nonnie4 11-05-2020 05:54 AM

New Machine

I had to drive an hour and a half to get to a quilting shop that had 2 "gently used" machines. I got the Bernina 580 with the embroidery module. I can't wait to learn how to use it but still work full time so not sure when - maybe over the 2 week Christmas vacation as I work for the school system. It only has 4.5 hours of sewing time and the lady decided she wanted something bigger. The other one was a Bernina 790 quilting edition with a 10.5 throat which would have been so nice but I decided that I would get more from having the embroidery since I don't work on a lot of really big projects. Wish me luck!

Nonnie4 11-19-2020 07:07 AM

Haven't seen anything. Time flies during this time of year.

stillvnu 12-01-2020 09:05 PM
