Lori when my brother-in-law had chemo his hair had been very straight and came back in curly more like wavy. Same with his wifes.Glad she is not having too bad of a time with it. If you shave your head PLEASE post a photo.Marty is very lucky to have such a good friend to go through this with. Bless your heart,it isn't easy for the person going through it with her either.Mary

Krystyna 10-04-2011 06:50 AM

Lori, what a wonderful friend you are. I'll bet you'd look terrific bald!

Lori Peercy 10-04-2011 06:56 AM

I am still hoping I will not have to find out! Fat, old and bald what a combo!

No, no, no, girl friend.

Fluffy, aged to perfection, and with a shiny heart-shaped head!

I'm watching my SP to see if she posts any more last minute hints of something she forgot to write down but really wants. I'm going shopping tomorrow :) to finish filling up her package which is going to have a long flight after I drop it off at the PO.

Well, I will tell you exactly what I would like. More time. A dependable helper who can sew a straight seam. Um, chocolate covered jelly rings - 10 lbs will do. Should last the afternoon. A pedicure for my flip flop ravaged feet. A tiny exercise bicycle that I can use while I sew. And if that doesn't work, liposuction would be good.

musicaljan 10-04-2011 08:33 AM

Hope my SP will be happy. A Joann's is liquidating one store as they get ready to move into a bigger one. I got lots of good bargains. Hoping to get it all together and in the mail soon. :D

Boy, we are a chatty bunch, was off the board for one day and came back to 25 pages of posts!!!! Whew! Anyways, my package is going out on Friday...to whom, to whom?????

Krystyna 10-04-2011 09:13 AM

Just an idea - Lori let me know what you think - I know that chemo patients can get very cold and a little quilt is always welcome. What if we put together a quilt as you go piece for Marty? Blocks would be 12" pre-quilted squares with 1" backing extending around so you can sew them together and Lori can do the sewing together! Here's a url on how to do it http://www.quilterscache.com/H/howto...neatatime.html
The backing would be different and perhaps if those who make a block could use muslin it wouldn't be so crazy ... but then crazy is good, too.
Sorry for volunteering you, Lori, but I am swamped right now and also making something special for each of our members who suffered a recent loss.

eagleoneowl2u2 10-04-2011 11:08 AM

That is beautiful. Is it going by airmail???? Canny & I are not getting too many international hints again![/quote]

Tussy,(Sorry if I got your name wrong) no this fabric was sent to me in a swap a while back and I am LOOKING for more of it. I love it so much and want about 4 yards of it. But have not been able to find it anywhere. My swap partner does not really remember where she got it to, if I remember, I could be wrong on this one, but I think she said that she might have got it from Hancocks in Paducah, KY. But like I said I really do not remember. But if anyone knows the name of the maker, design/er, or even the # or anything else about the fabric so I can do a extensive search on the computer.
Thank you everyone so very much!!!

Very neat idea! I would be happy to put a block together and send it out :)

Love this Krystyna! That's what I call positive attitude! Also love your idea about the quilt blocks for Marty!

kriscraft99 10-04-2011 12:34 PM

Krystyna - chocolate covered jelly rings? I've never heard of such. I'm not sure how I can package all of your other wishes, if, by chance, you are my secret pal

We just need to hear from Lori as to whether she will be willing to put the blocks together. What do you all think of a possible backing? Or is hodgepodge good?

Tussymussy 10-04-2011 12:37 PM

Oooooh, this one looks as if it is an international one. Perhaps I could help with clues? Which country is it flying towards? :XD:

Refers to Kriscraft99's post, forgot to quote the original

kriscraft99 10-04-2011 12:44 PM

it is flying out of South Carolina

Perhaps if not muslin, then do the back of the quilt in Marty's favorite color? such as if it is green, we all can do green backing, then it would be a little more less hodgepodgie....?

Kris, I guessed it was flying out of South Carolina..... unless you are your own SP???

Vicki W 10-04-2011 12:55 PM

Perhaps if we picked a color combination hodge podge would work.

I will help.

That sounds like a great idea to me and I think that hodgepodge or musln would be good either one!

Great! Does she have any favorite colors? Brights or pastels?

cannyquilter 10-04-2011 02:01 PM

I was thinking the same. I have discounted myself from Candi's as I don't think I fit with many of her clues unless she is trying to confuse me(not very hard I must admit). How about you do you fit the clues she is giving? Come on Kriscraft99 how about a little bit more of a clue? You know you want to.

Gday Lori,
I am just trying to catch up with all the Boards msg's and there is so many. I work full time and only get the time after work or on the w/ends to try and catch up.
On reading through i see that Marty is getting through her treatment. I remember 5 and 1/2 years ago on his 21st bday, when my son was going through the same thing, he had a rare Leukaemia and they didn't know how to treat it, so just hit him hard with radiotherapy and all the cancer drugs. It was hard to go through, but he had such a great sense of humour and made all laugh around him, which made it easier for him. There was one time where he had to walk the corridors of the hospital with his IV stand in tow and a sign on his back stating back log of wind, fall back, and the nurses would clock him each time he passed their station. We are now 2011 and he his a beautiful healthy young man now married. All my love and heart felt goes to you and yours through this time. {{{hugs}}}

I keep kidding her about clumps of hair falling out but that hasn't happened yet either! Sounds like everyone is all excited about this month's swap and I hope we have a better month with no late mailers! Beautiful day here treesa are changing colors and the sun is shining.

pennyj123 10-04-2011 02:18 PM

Gday, I would love to join you in this project if you decide to go ahead. Please let me do something. {{{hugs}}}

I'm horrible at clues, I'm not as quick witted (or sneaky) as Krystyna or Candi...

Let's see... my Pal lives a long ways from me. She is working on several quilting projects and likes an upcoming Holiday.

That's it.... that is all I can give w/o giving it away.

Whew I worked hard on my secret pals package the last couple days.. I made lots of home made items as she seems to really like them and I love making them. She seems to collect a couple of things I have and make. That's all the hints for now. h I hope to get it in the mail tomorrow.Mary

lawsonmugs 10-04-2011 03:01 PM

Krystyna I will try making a block also. I love the idea of a crazy back.Maybe we could all sign the back of the block we make. If they are all the same size and not to fussy I think it will be easier to get done. I am in 2 swaps but almost have my secret pal one done.Mary

pennyj123 10-04-2011 03:03 PM
