Can I give up? Won't be able to join the swap for this month either :cry: ..Got my first ticket and I have been driving for over 35 years..Seems, I went into the turn lane too early and got pulled over for improper lane usage..Court date is for the 2nd of Nov..Officer told me to go to see if I could get the ticket reduced..But, I am going to stick around here, sit on the bench and wait for the Nov. swap and look at all the wonderful packages everyone is getting...Hopefully, nothing will happen to keep me from joining it..

Welcome! If you read the complete page regarding the swap Lori has all the information there. She'll start doing everyone a Secret Pal on October 1st & finish on October 2 (that's because it takes a lot of time & hard work for her to get everyone a secret pal). You need to mail your package NO LATER than October 14 and you HAVE TO DO DELIVERY CONFIRMATION on it.

You also need to fill out the info for Lori every single month and send to her (because you might have some changes) and you need to tell her in a PM (private message) when you SEND your SP Swap pkg and also when you RECEIVE from your SP so she can note it. After this first month you'll get the hang of it and you're be looking forward to each new month! I think this is about everything in a nutshell. Oh, you can take pictures of your goodies & post for everyone to ooooh & ahhhh over. :)

For those who enjoy celebrating Halloween, The current Fon's and Porters Quilting Celebration magazine has a couple of great Halloween Recipes I thought I would share with you all.

Beggar's Bounty Snack Mix

8 cups caramel corn
3 cups salted peanuts
2 cups Chex* cereal
2 cups candy corn
1 cup M&M's* or Reese's Pieces*
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup Craisins

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Yields approximately 4 quarts. This is great for dividing into individual treat bags for guests.


Witch's Brew

2 (3-ounce) packages lime-flavored gelatin
1 quart hot water
1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
1&3/4 cups white sugar
4&1/2 cups cold water
2 liters ginger ale

1. In a large pan, dissolve gelatin in 1 quart of hot water. Allow to cool.

2. When gelatin is cool, pour into a large punch bowl. Stir in pineapple juice, orange juice concentrate, limeade concentrate, sugar and 4 1/2 cups cold water. Add gingerale just before serving. ~Enjoy!

If I understand this swap correctly.... You send a $10 gift plus anything else you want to send (based on the persons likes)???? And secret Pals change every month??

Question....Once you join, do you have to sign up every month, or just notify when you want to drop out?

Morning Lori, Doing good here as leaving tommorow for Lancaster PA and hoping some of my purchases will match for my SP this month. Has been a few years since I been back home in NY and boy all they are having here is rain so not much fun weatherwise.

I can't wait....Have started to get some things for Oct. & I signed up for the Christmas swap. There are over 100 people that signed up so I am not the only one addicted. It is fun.

There have been some questions as to if we are having a Dec Secret Pal Swap and the answer is yes. I know that people are busy that time of the year and will probably mean fewer swappers signing up, but hope we are all back in January!

just take a look at previous swaps to get an idea of what swappers send. that should help.

the $10.00 limit includes things we purchase such as patterns, candy, notions, fat quarters or things that may be on the list we get for our secret pals, i.e. one of my secret pals wanted packages of lemonade so i bought lemonade to send to her. many of us do supplement our packages with things from our own stash (fat quarters, quilt magazines, patterns) that we may not count towards the $10.00 limit. the $10 spending limit does not include postage.

now when you go to look at the links, during the sept sp swap we were a bit chatty on the thread so the swap packages start at about page 90. :-) i hope the above helps.

In honor of halloween, I got my SP some cocoa that turns green!! (Yes it tastes good, i HAD to try it first, ofcourse, you know that safe side and all)
I also snagged a handfull of clearance quilt books from Hobby Lobby about a week ago, a bunch of $28 books for $5!! Hopefully I got one, my SP can use.

what a great deal i love shopping at Hobby Lobby.
